SUSAN CARR @susancarr88 My show at Labspace in Hillsdale NY was postponed from the spring until late summer of this year early fall and I have been working really hard toward that end. I hold a MFA from The School of the Museum of fine arts Boston at Tufts university with a semester at Radcliffe. I see “the sculpture” actually sitting between painting and sculpture. Deconstructing what it means to make a painting I find great pleasure in “cutting up” the painting and then putting it back together again like a collage. I am a mom of three grown children and one who has passed. My son josh is a huge part of my story and my art making his life and passing has emboldened me to try new things and really be who I am. The eye paintings started happening after his death as well as the self portraits. I guess all of this work which is fairly new of the last four years has happened since he passed. Primarily a painter, Susan has also worked in other mediums including documentary photography, video and installation art.
