Suna Besha is a special event of Jagannath rath yatra; when Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra Devi are decorated with gold jewelry. It is also known as Rajadhiraja Bhesha or Raja Besha. It was observed on the day after the return of the Deities from Gundicha Temple. On the day of Bada Ekadasi, the 11th day of the bright fortnight in Asadha; the deities on their chariots themselves done the golden attire or the Suna Besha with hands, arms, and crown made of solid gold.

Suna Besha, also known as Rajadhiraja basha  Raja Besha and Rajarajeshwara Besha, is an event when the Hindu deities Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra (the presiding deities of Jagannath Temple, Puri, India) are adorned with gold jewelry. Suna Bhesha is observed 5 times a year. It is commonly observed on Magha Purnima (January), Bahuda Ekadashi (July), Dashahara (October), Kartik Purnima (November), and Pousa Purnima (December). The name Suna Bhesha is derived from two words, 'Suna' meaning "gold" and 'Bhesha' meaning "costume".While one such Suna Bhesha event is observed on Bahuda Ekadashi during the Rath Yatra on the chariots placed at the lion's gate (also called Singhadwara. the other four Beshas' are observed inside the temple on the Ratna Singhasana (gem-studded altar). On this occasion gold plates are decorated over the hands and feet of Jagannath and Balabhadra; Jagannath is also adorned with a Chakra (disc) made of gold on the right hand while a silver conch adorns the left hand. 🌹 GOLDEN LORD 🌹 🍀In total, there are 32 Beshas (forms or dresses) which #LordJagannath, #LordBalabhadra, and #Subhadradevi are adorned with. #Suna_Besha or #GoldDress is one of the most looked upon by the Devotees. It is done on Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi Tithi (i.e. the 11th bright fortnight in Asadha). This is also known as #BadaTadhauBesha. In this, the Gods and Goddess are adorned with beautifully carved Gold jewelry. They are loaded with precious stones and the yellow shine of the Gold from top to bottom. 🍀This form of God is put into action when the deities return from their visit to their aunt’s place.
