mortal kombat au

bc i’m a dumb thot that’s severely attached to MK and smosh so.... uwu

ian hecox: liu kang. one of the most recognizable characters, generally considered the “hero” of the MK universe, one of the most powerful human characters, has fire magic and idk i just strongly relate ian to fire sometimes. also very fiercely protective of those he cares about, and will do whatever he can to help others. stubborn and vengeful, even when it can be petty.

noah grossman: ermac. has probably stolen at least 1,000 souls in his lifetime, has an unspeakable aura, has green magic (weed), has that one fatality where he takes out your stomach and noah is v picky so it fits i think. currently has free will and chooses his battles in self-preservation, and wants what’s best for his home and the world he grew up in. has a very strong connection to family due to having the former outworld king’s soul inside of him.

olivia sui: skarlet. is a very strange little creature with an obsession for others’ blood, one of the most powerful girls in the MK universe due to her magic, has the potential to take everything over but just wants approval. is also incredibly brutal but in a subtle way, has an ethereal and almost elegant way to her. basically i just see them both as weird gremlin women with insane amounts of power.

keith leak jr.: kung lao. very close with liu kang, iconic hat, is one of the more mundane humans due to not having a power, but is just as formidable as other kombatants due to his rage and his sheer knowledge of fighting. has a legacy he wants to live up to (the great kung lao is kinda like kung lao sr. right?), and is protective of his family (the shaolin monks). is generally more pissed off than liu kang.

courtney miller: cassie cage. sassy wlw (cassie’s not a confirmed wlw but like... come on, she’s. not straight), has latent magic within her, strong ties to her family, doesn’t rely on her power to fight with others despite being able to. strong badass woman that supports others, literally could kill a man by kicking them in the nuts. uwu-loving, selfie-taking, snapchat-filtering, ass-kicking lady that takes no prisoners.

shayne topp: johnny cage. muscular blond actor that is not-so humble about how they perceive themselves, very jokey and sarcastic, REFERENCES REFERENCES REFERENCES, pop culture, will flirt with anyone if it means he can be out of danger. consistently shirtless, but also incredibly loyal and steadfast, and has a very good heart. will do ANYTHING for his family and friends, including defeat a literal elder god in combat.

lasercorn: scorpion. fire man made of vengeance and anger, loves his clan more than anything, literal hellspawn, has a thing for sub-zero, is actually just a skull under a ninja mask, has actual flame hair, impulsive and has a short fuse. wants nothing more than to avenge his family and clan, and does absolutely anything he can to make sure that he gets what he wants. becomes besties with sub-zero (more than besties but like.... i’m not gonna say it Out Loud lest Ed Boon come murder me in my sleep!!!!!!!!)

jovenshire: erron black. gunslingin’ rowdy boy that tries to flirt with unsuccessful results, has his own interests and goals in mind when he makes decisions, chooses battles based on how much he can gain from each possibility. listens to country music and unironically does the boot-scootin’ boogie, has strong beliefs that people are allowed to make their own decisions and do what they want. a strangely coy and erotic cowboy.

mari takahashi: kitana. ethereal princess of an entire realm, goes from wanting to please others to making her own decisions and being loyal to herself, can kill a man with just a kiss, is besties (i mean in canon they’re dating but like. Not Here!!!!) with liu kang. has hopes for the future, will do whatever it takes to prevent bad things from happening, surprisingly very violent despite being so nice.

sohinki: sub-zero. generally a chill guy that will kick your ass mercilessly when given the chance, may or may not be lasercorn’s true enemy, initially was kind of a strict dude but now he’s just chill and wants to have a good time. always seems to show up whenever others need him, and basically just takes things in stride. all around good addition to a team, but can be stubborn and unmoving.

wes johnson: mileena. very giddy at first, but calms down a bit later on, desperately wants to be considered part of a family, has a strong temper and craves some sort of control, wants stability and prosperity for themselves. proud of their accomplishments and are always looking for people to acknowledge them, big eaters. is like a younger sibling that pesters you for candy. more powerful than they know.

boze: sonya blade. no-nonsense, won’t hesitate bitch, will kill you within a moment’s notice if you cross her, strong and independent with a soft spot for her friends, idk i just really associate boze with army green, was almost definitely a very emo teen. expects a lot from cassie but loves her with all her heart, is ride or die, ambitious and knows what she wants. go-getter through and through.

damien haas: kenshi. is almost definitely a psychic, values honor, besties with shayne, is a GOOD DAD!!!!!!! (fuck mkx’s portrayal of kenshi as a father tbh!!!!!!! takeda deserves better and SO DOES KENSHI!), is 1000% a cat person, has telekinesis probably, kitanas. knows a lot of shit, is lowkey shady af, helps scorpion in the new timeline (which... damien and lasercorn are... mind brothers), helps the Kombat Kids train bc they need it

flitz: kotal kahn. sun god, can and will turn into a lion at any moment, probably just glows sometimes for fun, is real into jade (which. aren’t we all.), is less interested in conquering and more into internal affairs and uniting people, proud of his body (bc kotal’s always shirtless, y’know.), would definitely drink blood for youth and sustenance. is able to teleport and has telekinesis, but it’s just w/e y’know!

rhett & link: raiden. the protector(s) of earthrealm and savior of the MK storyline, all-powerful immortal gods, are like WAY too fucking tall, did i mention that raiden is an elder god and that rhett & link literally saved our asses? gods, truly.

defy executives: shang tsung. old-ass, musty-ass, soul-stealing bitch, is liu kang’s arch-nemesis, brought sindel back to life which literally almost killed everyone in the MK timeline until they were brought back due to the time shenanigans. fuckin’ dusty soul-grabbing bastards that don’t even have good fatalities smh.

I love Akiba’s Trip with a passion, to demonstrate why here’s the main cast rated by how much I love them

Nanashi (MC) 9/10. Can be the funniest dork that ever dorked and incredibly sweet when he (the player) wants to be. Seriously some of his lines are actual comedic gold and make me cackle just thinking about them while others give me diabetes. Canonically accepted a sketchy job application with expensive anime figurines as payment. Almost turned into what is basically an artificial vampire and just rolls with it like it’s just another Tuesday. I love him.

Nana 5/10. Real funny lil sis to Nanashi. I honestly don’t know much about her considering she’s like a rare monster spawn. Really fun when she’s on screen, calls Nanashi literally every variation of ‘Bro’ under the sun, Brofessor, Brotato, and my personal favorite; Brotagonist. Constantly asks for him to do shit for her or give her money. Funny but not much to love on a deeper level.

Yuto Tachibana 7/10. A very good boy, very smart, the brains of the squad. Soft lad that’s very underappreciated. I literally have nothing else to say. I love him.

Rin Tokikaze 7/10. An actual Tsundere who’s an idol and spokesgirl for a Pharmaceutical company. Puts on a cutesy act for her fans but is pretty sassy and snappy offstage. Does have an actual soft spot sometimes in rare instances and she can be absolutely fucking adorable when she wants to be. Will actually kick your ass if you try to start shit. Will also kick your ass if she doesn’t want to deal with your shit. Also just doesn’t give a shit. Looks cute but will fucking kill you if it suits her. Probably tried to bludgeon god at some point. Basically if a honey badger had a human body. Tried to kill a man with a keyboard guitar. *slaps Rin* This bad boy can fit so much fucking rage in it. She may be a little gremlin but she’s my little gremlin okay?

Kaito Tachibana 5/10. The biggest loser to exist. Big bro to Yuto. Useless. Garbage boy. Fights using an anime figurine. Knows every route to every dating sim ever made and will brag about it. Claims to be a hit with the ladies but literally all of them but the two really nice ones hate him. *holds him up* stinky. *waves him around* stinky bastard man. Is pretty funny, breaks the 4th wall. Like Nana, not much on a deeper level, very one dimensional so while he’s hilarious I don’t feel super attached to him.

Tohko Sagisaka 8/10. Childhood friend of Nanashi. Sassy as all hell, can and will mock Nanashi whenever possible. Really gay for Rin, like, REALLY gay. They literally kiss at one point. Honestly yeah they’d make a good couple and would get along swimmingly considering Tohko probably punched the sun at some point or tried throwing hands with god before. Will not take anyone’s shit. Punches actual vampires on a daily basis. Very done with all you people at all times. Can be a softie sometimes and it’s precious. All in all I love her she’s great.

Kihachi “Pops” Sugiyama 7/10. Is the only responsible one here. Local single father of six adopts two more kids who are actually supernatural beings. Loves all his children equally. Needs a freaking break. Just wants someone to buy something at his game bar for gods sake. A bad cook but real good at making Coffee. “I’m not a kid person.” He says followed by a hoard of children. Is actually a badass but didn’t want to steal Nanashi’s thunder. A very good dad, I love him.

Kati Raikkonen 9/10. Swedish waitress at the game bar the squad uses as an HQ. Very soft gal and precious bean. Does not understand sarcasm very well and has difficulty speaking Japanese so half the time what comes out of her mouth is grammatically incorrect or like, she mixed up some words in a saying and it’s the funniest thing ever, Yuto’s always patient and gently corrects her/translates what she just said for the gang. Like, an example (not from the game but just how she talks sometimes) would be ‘Let us all just do the claming down!‘ instead of ‘Let’s all calm down!’ I think it’s adorable and really funny, she’s a precious bean and I love her.

Shion Kasugai 2/10. BUY A SUIT JACKET THAT FITS FOR FUCKS SAKE. STOP TALKING SO CREEPILY TOWARDS NANASHI HES WAY YOUNGER THAN YOU. STOP BEIN SUPER SKETCHY. STOP MAKING RIN THINK YOU ARE KIDNAPPING HER SISTER. JUST. STOP.

Shizuku Tokikaze 10000/10. Is doing her best. Very sad. Needs lots of hugs. Familial issues off the wazoo. Starts out cold but grows to love Akihabara and the people in it. Says both real deep shit and real nerdy shit. Turns into a serious anime fan. Seriously she falls in love with an anime and it’s Adorkable AF. Speaks very calmly except for one scene where she’s super embarrassed and it’s the cutest thing ever her voice is so pleasant oml- Okay but seriously all joking aside someone give her a fucking hug please she’s depressed and bottling up so much and she hates herself like girl please stop you’re amazing you precious bean. Love her with all my heart. Best girl. No contest. Protecc.

Fave music artist: i cycle through music so much and listen to a lot of mixed playlists so... this one isn’t exactly easy to answer. genre-wise i really enjoy bluesy-jazz and swing, electroswing, pop/alt rock, a whole host of electronic genres including what is apparently called ‘chillstep’ and ‘chillhop’ (basically very atmospheric & often beat-driven ‘chill’ music), and to list some artists i always return to - Panic! at the Disco, Halsey, Fallout Boy (there i go dating myself, apparently), Oh Wonder, Ken Ashcorp, Karen Souza, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (...hush), Caro Emerald, The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Woodkid, The xx, alt-J, The Glitch Mob...

... i’ll stop there, heh.

Song stuck in my head: actually, it’s instrumental - Marble Machine by Wintergatan - they literally made that machine. also, the song in the second trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, because of course.

Last movie I watched: The Protector, actually. Essentially, a movie with a terrible/almost nonexistent plot with bad transitions and acting, but the selling point is extreme martial artist Tony Jaa - because wow he is terrifyingly good. the movie is probably best known for this incredible uncut continuous-shot fight scene, and this ‘bone-breaking’ final fight scene.

Last tv show I watched: as a full episode? ahhh, that would probably be Last Week Tonight with John Oliver - though I may have watched an episode of that new dragon maid anime that is surprisingly and completely delightful and full of great humor.

What I’m wearing right now: a tanktop, leggings, and knee-high socks. pretty usual home-clothes for me, actually, though often plus a hoodie.

When I created this blog: this blog? .... hmm. about 10 months ago now, i believe! i realized around then that i wanted a sideblog for the ever-increasing amount of reblogs and the like i had for undertale alone. you can also find my art (largely undertale too) over at @nighttimepixels (though starting from just about 3 and a half months ago, it’s a new one).

The kind of stuff I post: here, it’s all undertale! and almost entirely sfw undertale, i should specify, though the occasional suggestive thing works it’s way in. honestly i’m full of sin, but i wanted this blog to be safe for anyone.

Do I get asks very often?: i could probably count on one hand for this blog, and not much more outside of that;;

Why did I choose my url: “nighttime” has been a consistent handle for me for a while now (it’s my favorite time period of any day, i’m effectively nocturnal on top of that thanks to insomnia, i love stars and space and the general peace and mystery and intrigue that may be interpreted... the list goes on), and i love skeletons - especially the skelebros. so... without too much fuss, i settled on “nighttimeskels.”

Gender: i’m a woman! she/her pronouns and all that jazz.

Hogwarts House: hufflepuff, probably fairly unsurprisingly.

Pokémon team: ... as in bad guys? then Team Skull, 100%.

Favorite colour?: ... another hard one. basically i love deep forest palettes and spacey/cosmic/nebula palettes the most.

Average hours of sleep: hahaha. over a day? maybe 5? i have insomnia so it’s not very... consecutive. i wake up a considerable amount and just lay in bed, attempting to rest and/or unable to really function well enough to get up. but there are occasional days where the exhaustion catches up to me and i’m able to get 8 or so.

Lucky number: i wouldn’t say i have one? though i tend to like the number 4 a lot.

Favorite characters: surprising precisely no one, Sans and Papyrus, as well as Undyne, Mettaton, Gaster (though in honesty it’s mostly fan interpretations of him, but i adore even the mysterious ‘potential’ of canon Gaster), Toriel, Napstablook, Frisk, Chara, Muffet... basically any Undertale character, really; but outside of Undertale, i love the entire cast of Firefly, Ganondorf (especially later and/or sassy ones) from the Zelda games, the cast of Gravity Falls, the cast of Steven Universe (especially Garnet, Amethyst, Steven, Lapis, and Bismuth), damn near any character from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens, Guzma from Pokemon Sun/Moon, Bucky and Steve from the MCU/Captain America movies, Moana and Maui (and Tamatoa) from Moana, Nathan Drake from the Uncharted games, and my stars the list goes on. generally i have particular soft spots for characters with a tendency for wordplay & banter, sass, probably dark or troubled backgrounds, and redemption arcs. also characters who are kind and bright and warm by choice, even though they know the world well enough or have been through terrible things.

Drink of choice? non-alcoholic? then coffee, hands-down, particularly with almond milk and perhaps a hint of dark chocolate. alcoholic? depends on the day, but i do love: -Kentucky Sweet Teas (sweet tea with whiskey - and i add a splash of lemon) -a drink called a Vegan Yeti - essentially, almond or coconut milk, Kahlua, and a splash of vodka. (... i may have a high tolerance for alcohol, though i mostly just drink socially if/when i do.) -hard ciders -and really most mixed drinks that are sweet with a hint of a sour kick.

Dream job: truly? if i could make a living through storytelling, that would be my dream. i’m not looking to be rich, not by any means, i just would like to make enough to live probably with a dear friend or two as roommates, to pay off my debts, and to be able to regularly support other creators in their work. i just am passionate about storytelling in all its forms, in writing and art and games and the physical forms as well... all of it.
