Also this maybe sound mercenary but as someone who has put an amount of concerted effort into building friend groups and communities online and had like, a measurable amount of success in that area if you judge by amount of good friends I have made, investment that people feel in my online presence, and like... number of ppl who say they have been positively impacted by stuff I have said or made,
Lecturing people is literally the opposite of how you do this
If you look at the (very few, tbh) people who have built such strong presences on here that they are able to platform their content and make money off it, like Joy @thebibliosphere , what they're doing is modeling the behavior that they want to see in the people who interact w them
And like.. idk. Just, if I was going to leap into a new online community I would model the behavior I wanted to see. I would find people making content I loved and TELL THEM THAT and message them and be curious about them and build a rapport. With the people who are already active in the way I aspire to, and focusing on those groups of people and that content and I would 300% not do it by lecturing dark matter followers and lurkers for ... being that.
It's not EFFECTIVE
Idk. I'm tired and I'm like... I'm not motivated to make posts like this bc I want to Win an argument or Be Correct
I am Always motivated to make posts like this bc I want the people who feel guilty and bad and anxious and stressed and traumatized to be able to read the post and take several deep breaths and feel like I have removed a brick off their shoulders
It's hard being a very stressed and anxious person online and it's harder when you're being made to feel like maybe Every way that you are comfortably interacting with things you enjoy is Wrong and Bad and Hurting People.
Man, life is hard enough

succession is kinda boring but the fandom is wild. i’m mostly watching it just so i get all the memes because they are on a whole other level. it will be a tumblr shitpost from 2013 that applies perfectly to kendal roy. it will be a seamless comparison with a barbie movie. and the shipping content is all insane. what do you mean he’s throwing water bottles at his assistant in a panic room. slime puppy milf phone sex? like what the actual fuck is going on. why is the fandom 10 times more exciting and batshit than the show. aren’t you all supposed to be grown ups. someone made a taylor swift edit of cousin greg i saw it.

i think the whole "stewy loves money" thing is an oversimplification. i think what he actually loves is luxury. creature comforts, the physical results of money. yes he absolutely wants the power and inflence that comes with wealth, just like the roys and everyone else. but he also genuinely enjoys the sumptuous sensory experiences afforded him. he enjoys the hors d’œuvres, the parties, the lush, beautiful clothing. he’s often remarking on what he likes or how much he’s enjoying something! he’s just very physical. he’s touchy-feely. he savors foods, scents, sex, experiences. he doesn’t indulge just for the sake of it (at least i don’t think so)
being that rooted in sensory perception tracks for him, the show’s realist, the Only Honest Character. like, of course he is morally and ethically behind whoever wins. of course he doesn’t subscribe to the weird ideals the roys attach to their business dealings. that’s not to say he doesn’t have aspirations or moral tendencies or that he’s like, cartoonishly hedonistic. but he has a groundedness and comfort in his own physicality that allows him to enjoy wealth in a way that the roys can’t.

every person can do what they want on tumblr forever. however as the resident fun police I lament how web weaving, a potentially fruitful mode of sequential collaging and putting texts and media into dialogue (either through their confrontational thrown-togetherness or using one to question absences/omissions in the other -- see this and this succession piece(s)) has mostly been used on this site to. list the most boring tepid and watered down song & book quotes, out of context, together
