The style of jazz fusion contains a lot of overlap between a variety of outfits and musicians as you can observe from the credits. I mean, check Jean-Luc Ponty's Enigmatic Ocean, where you can locate Allan Holdsworth among the players on the LP. Mind you, this shouldn't suggest the scene should be seen as insular. No, this only means the musicians in the brand like to support and collaborate with each other. True, I am too much of an optimist in here, so let us rather return to Mr. Ponty then. He enters the musical tone with a violin, which is not that prevalent within jazz fusion despite being well suited for the brand. Thus, his playing does give his tunes a sound outside that of many of his peers. Then again, this is what jazz fusion should be.
