KBS MUSIC BANK IN BERLIN, 180915.

so this is going to be like a small(-ish, haha) post about my experience at the music bank in berlin, which took place on 180915. i’m trying to remember as much as i can. if you want to read everything click on ‘read more’. i’ll also include some videos (they aren’t the best actually since iphone videos get kinda crappy when you zoom in and uploading them to twitter won’t make it better ;; but i love them!) :))

i feel like everything related to the concert already started on friday, 180914. since livenation/ max schmeling halle announced that there will be some kind of numbering for those who got a standing ticket. so the number you’ll get would be the number you have to stand in queue on the next day and then get into the venue. we arrived around 2PM that day, but there were already so many people. it was so.. i don’t know. i just wish they had announced that earlier, so you would have had enough time to prepare your trip according to that. but.. yeah, our numbers weren’t thaaaat bad. around 600-something, haha. like when we left the park after we got our numbers, we couldn’t even see the end of the line anymore. i somewhere heard there were like over 2000 people who wanted to get their numbers..

so yeah.. actually it got announced the numbering would start in the late afternoon, which means around 4 to 5PM. but naaah. only at 6PM they started to give us wristbands and wrote the number we got before on that. (yep, there was some kind of unofficial numbering which was done by some fans.. i don’t really get why. but okay.. so they went around, gave us a number and wrote down our names). so when the numbering started.. there was like ONE guy who gave out the wristbands. for thousands of people. poor guy actually. but when we finally got our numbers i left for my dad’s place..

on the next day, the actual concert day, i arrived at the venue at around 2.30PM. since i had my number it actually didn’t matter when i would go there. i just had to find my right queuing place. so we kept strolling around the park and got that really cute EXO-banner which said something like ‘european eri’s pick, you finally came’. but i had to drop this during the concert because holding it got too uncomfortable and the fan i brought was really useful, since it was so hot. so i rather used that, hehe. there were other people too who gave out stuff, but i only went for one fanartist and got some nice fanart of jongin.

after a while we went to our line. but when they opened the doors, everyone wanted to get in as soon as possible. so yeah.. what did we even get our numbers for? well..

once we were in the venue it started to fill up real quick. like i actually thought we had a good place to see everything. but as soon as park bogum and somi came out everyone started to push. so i had some really tall girls right in front of me, and i’m not even the smallest one.. but it was okay. i still could see (almost) everything! filming and taking photos was allowed.

the first band to perform was stray kids. i actually only knew one song from them, district 9. but they were really good and i really enjoyed their performance. and felix.. well he actually is super cute. when the fans started to sing a birthday song for him in german he got so super shy :)) and there was another member i couldn’t take my eyes off. but since i’m not too familiar with them.. i don’t know who he is ://

then it was (g)i-dle’s turn. i didn’t really knew them before but they also were so good at performing. and wow, so so so beautiful. i can’t say much about them. but i really liked the songs they performed and i will check them out for sure!

since it’s music bank and they always have special stages whenever they go to foreign countries i kept thinking about how they would actually sing in german, haha. but they didn’t. after (g)i-dle there was the first special stage. IT WAS CHANYEOL!!! and everyone freaked out completely. he was actually singing a song from a german band called ‘the scorpions’ but they used to sing in english. he sang ‘wind of change’, playing on a guitar and i already felt like i went to heaven :))

then it was finally wanna one’s turn - like.. i’m pretty much into them these days, i actually went to music bank for EXO, but knowing they would come too also got me really excited :)) i enjoyed all of their songs. wow, kang daniel? beautiful. woojin? he literally stole my heart for a little while. jihoon? ethereal! i took some videos of their performance as well! i went so hard when they actually performed BOOMERANG, because that’s my song and i know like every single word of it lmao.

special stage again. straykids came back and performed a song i actually never heard before. but it was really cute and lively :))

there also was a german guy, i think he was called daniel lindemann? he works and lives in SK i think, but i’m not too sure. he was there to host a little bit (he interviewed some fans in the seating area) and then he also joined (g)-idle in their special stage, a song from BONEY M (yeah they were produced by a german guy haha), on the piano. they performed ‘sunny’ and everyone was singing along!

TAEMIN!!! MOVE!!! like i couldn’t see anything because some girls right in front of me were so hyper to see him, which actually was pretty cute. so they were holding up their phones and tiptoeing to be able to see him better. but really, move was so lit! after that it was ‘press it’ i think and he came to the front stage. and then something really cute happened - like they started to play a video with minho and key and than actually sang ‘i want you’ and everyone in the venue went along. he performed a ballad-song as well, ‘hypnosis’, and then he went straight to ‘danger’. he is such a great performer.. i mean it wasn’t the first time i actually saw him, but it was the very first time i saw him perform and wow!

somi also did a special stage and performed ‘rollercoaster’ by chungha and ‘gashina’ from sunmi.

at this point i got really tired. like standing all that time, getting pushed, the heat in the venue, not being able to drink anything.. but i said to myself i have to make it through EXO and then i can just.. die! but it still wasn’t EXO’s turn by then lmao. there was another special stage - like songs you like to listen to while driving on the autobahn?? i couldn’t really concentrate on that, because actually all i wanted to do was to lie down somewhere. but when wanna one came back to the stage and performed ‘pick me’ i got lively again :))

and then the time finally had come!!! the MC’s kept on asking us if we know the biggest kpop group and i was like duh?! of course we do, haha! EXO WAS THERE!!!! i saw my bebbii’s again and i finally, finally saw jongin AGAIN! he was even more beautiful than before and i’m not lying.. you probably have seen fansite pictures - he looks so very very good with his new hairstyle TTT^TT

the eve - kokobop - boomerang - what u do (i didn’t die i swear) - power! i can’t remember the right order of everything anymore. i was too... far up into heaven already ;;

but they had a photo time and some kind of EXO lotto. first baekhyun got chosen and sang like five seconds of ‘young’. during boomerang jongin happened to be on the other side of the stage, so i couldn’t see him at all :(( but i had time enough to film baekhyun for ayu, since she deserves it and even tho i told her i won’t get her a photo from him, i somehow had to do it, haha.

i swear.. kyungsoo was standing right in front of us too - and he is even more beautiful than i ever thought he could be. when i went to the concert last year i didn’t see him often, since he didn’t really came over to our side of the stage. so.. i was blown away and he started to smile really sweetly and waved at the fans :))

we also sang a birthday song for jongdae and he literally smiled from one ear to the other, so cute.

jongin.. jongin.. i don’t even know what to say. i couldn’t stop looking at him whenever he was in front of us! he nailed his solo in ‘power’ and this is like my most favorite video i managed to take from him! he is shining, glowing and overflowing with beauty and i will never ever get tired of saying that, haha.

and then.. everything was over so soon :(( like for the ending everyone came back on stage but jonginnie was too far away from us most of the times. so i managed to get a super cute video of jongdae dancing to ‘gangnam style’ :))

idk.. it feels like this has been the longest but also shortest day in my whole life. but i’m glad i did it. EXO might have only performed like for half an hour, but they were there!

Then there is Chan from Stray Kids, he is a powerful leader who loves everyone and his dimple and his...I dimples know how to freaking explain how amazing he is. I love him so much. Then later year a boy name Lucas from NCT ATTACKED ME.

SHINee World V in Dallas

ho boy. y’all. Y’ALL. that’s right i said y’all it’s dallas hello

i don’t know where to start. ok no wait yes i do. @ikimashou and i had front row center seats. FRONT ROW. CENTER. let me tell you, it was absolutely insane. i could touch the stage with my hand. I WAS TWO FEET AWAY FROM THE STAGE.

so i’m at center stage, glowing taemin sign and lighstick in hand. alanna has her glowing jonghyun sign, we’re so ready. and then it begins.

Here is my long ass fan account. i’m so sorry. i wanted to write everything so i never forget. ps i’m a taemin stan so......... yeah i wrote a lot of things about taemin.

hitchhiking begins, we’re ALL chanting “OH OHHHH O-O-O-O-OH” and then the curtain rises and SHINEE IS STANDING RIGHT THERE. I WAS F;KAJSD;FLKJ;S SCREAMINGGGGGGGG

y’all know taemin is my ult bias #2 right so like. i see him and i just got this crazy adrenaline through my veins like he was RIGHT THERE. key start singing and taemin sings after that and i fucking lost it. i lost. it. i was going SO HARD. SO. HARD.

y’all they were right. there. two feet away from me. i could see the beads of sweat on their faces. holy shit. hoooooly shit.

so for a full week before the concert i practiced the fanchants because i was slacking in that area, so the next song was why so serious and I WAS FUCKIN READY

onew was just an absolute joy and ray of sunshine to see, especially up close.... just the sun itself.

MINHO WAS HIS USUAL DASHING PRINCE SELF. holy shit i can close my eyes and picture minho two feet away from me spittin some rhymes i consider myself ultimately blessed.

KEY. key looked at alanna and i at one point. :) he’s always so sweet and super sassy and his silver hair was ON POINT

ahhhh jonghyun................................... what a fucking TEASE holy shit he looked so good but more on that in a minute

oh my god i’m so happy i got black hair soft bub taemin hair holy shit he was incredible and beautiful up close. it was absolutely insane i know i just keep going on about how close i was but it was just... mind blowing. they were all so beautiful.

ok so like by song 3 alanna had like..... i don’t even know like 10 eye contacts with jonghyun????? i don’t even know. that boy was all over her and her glowing jonghyun sign that boy LOOKS FOR HIS SIGNS MAN

after song 3 when alanna started freaking out next to me i wouldn’t even pay attention to her and ask her “WHAT WHAT” like i knew what. jonghyun, that’s what. there was no need to ask.

ahhhh juliette was the 3rd song and man... i’ve been listening to that song since 2009 man JULIETTE HOOOOOOO~~~~

also juliette has a hard fanchant at the end THE NAMES ARE OUT OF ORDER BUT I MASTERED IT AND CHANTED IT LIKE MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT

okay. replay. i fucking. bawled. i had to stop, i couldn’t speak and suddenly i was just a wreck. i was shaking and my eyes were a waterfall and i was just a hiccupping collapsed mess. on the one hand i hope shinee saw how emotional i got because that song is like.... it was my first shinee song, it was shinee’s first song... i’ve been listening to replay for 8 years. it just ALWAYS gets me. on the other hand, i don’t want to burden shinee thinking i’m upset so I hope they didn’t see me. they were happy tears. the happiest tears.

then it was ment time and i’m like okay. this is the time when they’re gonna start looking around for real at their fans. with my glowing taemin sign in hand i was ready.

ok sad points coming up. taemin was.............. i felt like he was not truly himself at this concert. i know he’s been sick since the start of their japan tour AND jet lagged. i could just... tell he wasn’t havin it last night.

i rarely saw him smile, he was mostly straight faced, averted gazes with the fans.... or i guess I should say me. i’m not being salty, i’m just truly sad. front row and holding a glowing taemin sign, it was obvious that he saw me. but i think i made eye contact with him like... 3 times. and 2 out of those three times he would make eye contact and then immediately look away.

i know he’s super shy :( i could tell he was in general at this concert but.... i didn’t get the feeling he was having a great time, and that broke my heart. i tried to give him as much encouragement as i could throughout the concert, shouting “taemin you go boy” and stuff like that.... waving at him whenever his eyes started getting close to mine. but... :(

during the ring ding dong-lucifer combo songs he was having major trouble with his ear pieces and like... MAJOR PROPS TO HIM because he just went “fuck it” and danced and sang without his ear pieces in. those are some INTENSE DANCES and those chords were swinging around at lightning speed. at one point taemin like flicked his wrist really really fast and hard in frustration over them and i just wanted to like.. pause time and help him untangle his chords so he wouldn’t be frustrated.... idk i wanted to give him a big hug.

Hello~ hello~ not many people knew the fanchants for this song so i remember minho gently trying to teach us the fanchants. after verse 2 though he gave up, but IT’S OKAY MINHO I GOTCHU I WAS DOING IT. was very nice to hear that he knows the fanchants though, you know? i know the artists are always so focused on performing, i always wonder how much of the fans they hear.

i think the boys could definitely hear our fanchants at some points. i know they definitely could for the major hits :’) which is great because fanchants are so rare in america, most kpop concerts here no one knows the fanchants

i got real emotional at “don’t let me go” i don’t know why... i just really love that song and got super into it and was singing so passionately along with them and i hope they saw me because i was like close to tears

(by this point i’m going out of song order i forgot what it was) sherlock was absolutely amazing, it’s one of my favorite shinee dances, and holy shit it was just incredible to see up close.

we all got SO HYPE at ready or not, jumping up and down. i went hARD. SO FUCKING HARD AT THIS SONG and everyone was jumping!!!! .... except for taemin. again, he wasn’t feeling well so he kinda just... expressed his excitement less exuberantly.

VIEW!!! EVERYONE KNEW THE FANCHANTS FOR VIEW AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. one of my absolute favorite shinee songs, it meant so much to me to see it live and for everyone to participate. i KNOW shinee heard us on this one and it was so great NOMU AREUMDAUN DAUN DAUN DAUN VIEW SHI-EE-NEE

EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this was it. this was the song i was WAITING FOR. the dance is just SO INCREDIBLE and they’re all SO AMAZING in this song i was so SO SO HYPE. i think i screamed almost the loudest i have in my life singing along to this. AND!!! so many people knew the fanchants!! which was amazing because it’s one of the more complicated ones?? but i’ve watched lots of fancams and people are chanting the names at the beginning, i’m so impressed with dallas shawols. THE PART WHERE THEY ALL GATHER TOGETHER AND ONEW IS SPINNING HIS ARMS AT THE BACK. that part. that’s the part i screamed so hard, my head started to hurt, it felt like my brain was expanding........ man i went so hard.

then there was the pause before the encore. we were supposed to sing love sick but.... :( that fanchant didn’t happen. everyone just started chanting “SHINEE SHINEE SHINEE” which is okay i guess. i wanted to sing love sick :(

WE GOTCHU FAM. i love 1 of 1 sooooo fucking much. it made me so incredibly happy. also taemin. fucking owned this song. i hyped him up so much “GO TAEMIN GET YOUR LIFE YAAAAAAAAAS TAEMIN”. lots of that.

and then..... it was time for the last song... an encore. oh yes. i cried. ohhhhhhhh yes. so many tears. shoutout to my makeup setting spray for keeping that shit in place because i didn’t look like a mess by the end of the night somehow???? so many tears were shed.

okay. i fucking swear this happened. i feel it in my bones and soul. the last line of an encore, jonghyun sings “gyeolguk irwojineun du juingongcheoreom”. at the very end, when he was singing “cheoroem” ~so softly~.... the LAST LINE OF THE LAST SONG OF THE SHOW..... he looks down into my eyes and holds my gaze as he sings that and finishes singing. i..... i froze up. i just.... i had to hold his gaze, he just froze me in place as he looked into my eyes as he finished singing. i can’t begin to describe how incredibly greatful i am to have shared that moment. i can’t..... i just wanted to write it here. i have nothing to say, i’m getting emotional writing this. all i’ll say is i can picture his gaze perfectly in my mind.

and then the curtain was lowering and they stood there and i looked at taemin for the last time as long as i possibly could and then his face was covered and then his whole body was covered and then he was gone and shinee was gone and i fell into my seat and started crying.

AND THEN THEY HAD TO GO AND PLAY THAT VCR OF THEM WORKING HARD AND IT SAYS “THANK YOU & LOVE YOU” AT THE END AND THAT. THAT WAS IT. I LOST IT. i know i said i lost it a lot in this but i really lost it that time. because they were gone and it was over and it went by so fast and it was heaven :(

now i don’t have much of a voice left and am left with SEVERE post concert depression and don’t know what to do with myself. all day i’ve been sitting here just....... doing nothing. also i had to say goodbye to alanna again and i cried for that too.... back to long distance friendship again.. so everything’s over and everyone’s gone and i’m just sitting here like “holy shit did that even really happen”.

Not the most flattering photo of me ever, but it was tricky getting the right angle to fit all of us (and our different heights) into shot. We saw BuilderOfBridges and her husband (whose nickname temporarily escapes me) yesterday afternoon for the first time in four years - they were in town for the Adele concert which was cancelled. While the cancellation was very disappointing for them, it meant we got to spend more time with them than anticipated, so that was an upside. It was a busy social weekend all round... Friday we'd had a visit from Bulgaria-based friends; they came to dinner and stayed over. They had a wedding to go to on Saturday and we live relatively close to the venue so it was a good excuse to see how they're doing. Saturday morning, he came to watch the All Blacks - Lions match with us while she did hair and makeup ready for the big event. They set off to the wedding armed with our spare keys, as we then headed to Bloomsbury for lunch with my mother's older sister, visiting from New Zealand (see what I mean? Three separate social engagements with people based abroad!), along with KiwiCuz and Lightning. A good time was had by all... KiwiCuz then headed off with our mutual aunt (they muttered about museums as they left) and Lightning peeled away homeward with YoungMan, leaving me and Foggy child free to enjoy my birthday present of tickets to the British Summer Time Festival, with Green Day headlining. The sun was shining, bands were singing and all was well in the world...! That is, we were having a great time listening to a bunch of familiar (The Stranglers) and unfamiliar (Gogol Bordello, who did a great set) bands, and checking out various foods and drinks on offer, until Green Day hit the stage a short while after their scheduled 7:45pm kick off. I thought it was pretty clever (whoever decided to do so) to play "Bohemian Rhapsody" while waiting for them to start - the whole crowd sang along, priming them nicely for the band to hit the stage... ...I really enjoyed the show, but Foggy had managed to tweak his back somehow during the afternoon and was in increasing discomfort as the evening wore on. By the time Billy Joe did a solo acoustic mini set of three songs after the official band encore, poor Foggy was in real pain and we wound up getting a taxi back to Thunder & Lightning's. He took some painkillers and headed for bed, while I stayed up a while to chat. Sunday morning, he headed straight home so he could be fit for work today (he was hoping for a massage but wound up feeling better despite not having one) while YoungMan and I stayed for lunch with Thunder & Lightning before meeting up with our Dutch friends. As ever, much as we love seeing everyone - and it was a real treat to have access to so many people we like over the course of the weekend! - not a scrap of home management stuff got done so I have a pile of laundry waiting for me while Foggy goes grocery shopping tonight. In fact, we're out tonight again as there is a parents' evening at YoungMan's high school, where he is to be fitted for uniform amongst other things. Tomorrow evening I have my knitting group, and by the time Wednesday rolls around I will be ready for a break!! Luckily we have a pretty low key weekend upcoming. Foggy has to work on Saturday and I have invited two of YoungMan's mates for a sleepover, so that will potentially mean a late night but nothing too logistically taxing... at least I can get laundry done at the same time!!
