Ive always hated the use of the word "masks" in sociology because it denotes deception and inauthenticity but maybe I need to dig a little deeper with why I feel so passionately about that word

#spoiler alert i probably am in denial that i have worn masks all my life #in my obsession for both authenticity and getting along with as much people as possible simultaneously #redstrewn talks #ive always preferred the idea of “facets of a jewel”#there's no “coverup” happening but you are showing a different side to yourself #where the other sides aren't facing the viewer #i like to believe that the different sides i show to people are all real #thinking of myself as a fake freaks me out
