far enough in the lace section that my golden autumn shawl actually looks like something

#sort of regretting not using more visible beads but it was hard finding something i really liked with this yarn #now im wondering if i should try a niebling doily next. the answer is no bc i should aim to knit something i can use ever #& not make choices that encourage me to buy even more $40 skeins of pure silk rather than using the many extremely nice yarns i have #but i do enjoy knitting mildly elaborate lace and feeling smug.#box opener #knitting #i'm using dyeforyarn laceweight tussah silk and it is SO nice i'm really loving it. was worried it'd be splitty but so far not much #very soft very pleasant fabric. this thing will probably come out kind of small given that i'm down to like 3mms to get a fabric i like #but if i wear it it'll be as a scarf anyway. and it's sooo soft so who cares.#look at that fun honeycombed lace netting between the floral motifs. what more can a man want in life

Screwing around with some dollar store cotton. Knit a doily pattern with it but wasn’t super feeling the final product so I decided to continue it in some improvised mesh to make a lace bag? and I figured I should probably add some handles idk. This yarn allegedly changes from white to pink/yellow in the sunlight but it’s too cold for me to be willing to put it in direct light to check, it doesn’t seem to change from the light coming in my windows.

#knitting #knitblr #lace rot #wip #i have already made so many mistakes in this.#not in the lace. in the set up. my provisional cast on for one of the handles was in the same yarn i'm knitting them in.#but i had a bunch of it that couldn't be used for actual knitting #there was glue in it? i think? idk it felt gross and was not coming out so about the fifth of the ball wasn't usable.#if it was acyrlic or a nice yarn i would try harder to salvage it but it's dollar store cotton lmao i don't feel THAT bad about throwing #so much of it away. still a little bad tho. so i saved the longest parts i could to use as provisional cast ons/scrap yarn.#i really can't tell if i hate this yarn or not. it's VERY stinky (presumably the colour changing chemical) and very splitty #and it's very shiny/slick which i'm not personally the biggest fan of. but it's also super soft for cotton #significantly softer than something like sugar and cream for example #i see why people made shirts from this even tho i bet those shirts were SUPER stinky
