actually ronin learns about it somewhat early on! though he didn't have specifics at that time, splinter expressed that the two of them had things in common such as morning for loved ones and ronin reacts about as much as you would in that situation, hes somewhat apologetic as is splinter for ronin's own losses and it helps kick-start their friendship and allows ronin to start somewhat trusting splinter
