Spikeskin

A magical disease believed to be a dermal development of the thorn-hair variant of the Medusa Virus, Spikeskin causes the development of thorns along the skin, as well as altering skin pigmentation. While pigmentation usually becomes greener (though conferring no photosynthetic ability) a darker brown and even black is not unheard of, which can make identification of the disease in those with darker skin quite difficult, as skin discolouration is one of the earliest symptoms. The thorns are not, at first particularly painful nor harmful, though they can impede day to day interactions. It is only in later stages, when the disease starts to cause the development of thorny branches from the skin, that the disease becomes truly painful, warping nerves, bones and veins to ensure the new protrusions are fed.

Quite how Spikeskin developed remains a mystery. Most magical creatures and diseases are relatively stable; mutation is usually a result of new blood or magic, such as crossing with another species or unexpected interaction with a spell (several mobile trees, for example, such as the Walking Tree and the Jubokko, are as they are due to spells hitting ordinary trees). Nonetheless, Spikeskin does exist and can be treated with some of  the few methods effective on the Medusa Virus. Theories vary; some believe that, just as the disease originally branched due to possible contact with a spell, the thorn variant encountered another spell which caused the current mutation. Other’s speculate it has simply adapted to deal with body hair as opposed to the concentrated areas on head, genitals, armpits and the like.

PLEASE tell me everything about Spikeskin I love them!! Are they an alien or just a mutant lizard? How did they end up on Earth? Do they have any family besides the Tennysons? What’s their personality like? What do they think of Kevin? Of Rook? Of Grandpa Max (because if they were in his plumber too box there MUST be a story there). I am rotating them in my mind please tell me everything there is to know about them.
