spiderdads actor au!

miguel o'hara is riding the peak of his acting career - he's just starred in the latest installment of a certain superhero franchise, rose to fame for his intense acting style and deep commitment to his craft

very off-the-grid. he hates going on social media because any post related to him will be scattered with comments about his daughter who passed away years ago and god don't people have other things to talk about?

on a lighter note, since he has no social media presence, fans of his have to scrape by on google search getty images of him and screenshots of story posts from other actors where he's in the background

peter b parker is a slightly older well-established actor who used to do more serious roles, but has settled comfortably into playing smaller pseudo-father-figure roles in quirky indie coming-of-age movies and leading men in buddy cop movies and similar shows/movies

he's got quite the fanbase - he gets along with all his co-stars, he's got loads of those stan account compilations like "peter being a himbo for 12 minutes," and he has a tiktok account he absolutely should NOT be self-managing

he doesn't get taken seriously by the press and honestly he's okay with that!

they get cast opposite one another in one of those obvious cash-grab all-star-cast romcoms together and their personalities immediately clash

"yeah, of course he's hot. but god, what an asshole!" -peter

"i'm going to strangle him if he continues to refuse to take this seriously." -miguel (it's literally a romcom)

but pr forces them to be in proximity, since it's bad press if the two co-stars hate each other. they get asked to "play up the chemistry a little bit" to promote the movie

and of course, they each eventually find out the other isn't so bad. peter falls first, miguel falls harder, and soon tabloids are obsessed with figuring out if all the paparazzi photos of them (fighting? flirting?) are just a pr stunt or if they're genuine

and honestly, both peter and miguel are asking themselves the same thing.

BONUS: lyla is miguel's personal assistant (she becomes bffs with peter which miguel HATES), jess and miguel co-starred in a bridgerton-esque romance/drama a few years back and became good friends, and miles played peter's found family son a la the last of us

Fans might be interested in what’s been happening behind the scenes of the upcoming romantic comedy starring Miguel O’Hara and Peter B. Parker, Going Local. Things could be getting steamy behind closed doors!

Despite his serious demeanor, O’Hara has been a romantic lead several times in the past few years outside of his best-known role in the More than Human and Inhuman superhero duology. Some may remember how his role as Lord Gonzalez in Lady & Lord alongside Jess Drew’s Lady Lockhart was cause for rumors about the nature of the relationship between the two co-stars.

At the time, both Drew and O’Hara denied the rumors, maintaining that they had formed a strong platonic bond while filming and nothing more—and by all press and social media accounts, this appeared to be the case.

But this time around might be a little different. Our lead journalist Lily Harrison interviewed O’Hara while live on the red carpet, and it seems the line between on- and off-screen may be blurred.

“…What? We’re not—Parker and I aren’t involved,” O’Hara insisted when asked to comment on the numerous sightings of the co-stars flirting off-set, including their cute moment in front of the step and repeat banner earlier in the evening. “Sure, we’ve spent a lot of time together outside of filming. But it’s nothing.”

Nothing, huh? We’d like to draw fans’ attention to the contrast between this moment of flustered hesitation and the Jess Drew and Miguel O’Hara interview where O’Hara clearly and quickly shut down any speculation. Combined with recent press photos where Parker and O’Hara appear very close, it’s making a lot of fans curious about what’s truly going on in the actors’ off time.

“Oh, come on! You won’t have to actually date; it’s mostly the publicity team’s job. We’ll just get a few tabloids to publish speculation, plant the seeds, then get a few behind-the-scenes shots of you guys together, and frame it as a ‘flirting on and off set!’ thing. All you have to do is play it up on the red carpet, really. It’s supposed to seem like a secret fling, so you shouldn’t have to try that hard, and then once promotion is done, you can drop the act.” Lyla talks animatedly, her hands flitting about as she talks.

“I, for one, think that sounds hilarious,” Peter reaches his arms out as he talks, stretching languidly in his chair. Miguel leans to the side to avoid getting hit.

“Easy for you to say,” Miguel scoffs. Easy for Peter, with his endless string of tabloid romances and reputation for being beloved by production crews.

“So you think I’m charming,” Peter raises his eyebrows once, twice, exaggerated and flirtatious. When Miguel finally gives into the urge to roll his eyes as a result, Peter says, “Oh, look, we’ve got our dynamic down already. This is gonna be fun, guys.”

Miguel glances around the room– Lyla and Olivia looking at him expectantly, Peter in agreement, and he knows he’s outnumbered. “...It’s not like I’ve got anything to lose,” he says, resigned.

“Is that an agreement I hear?” Lyla asks.

“Sure,” Miguel says, pushing himself up out of the chair. “ Buenas noches, everyone.”

Miguel has acted hundreds of kisses before. He knows how to be professional when it comes to things like this, knows how to detach himself from the character. He tries to think about the logistics–would the audience like if he tilted his head like this? If he breathed just so? If he put his hand there on Peter’s neck? How should he curl his fingers into Peter’s hair to make him sigh and press into him and–

Something is different about this. It’s not exactly the kissing; the physicality is made awkward by the stops and starts and the redoing of it all. It’s the way Peter treats him between takes, beyond the expectations of professionalism, like he is a thing to be treated gently.
