Hi there! I'd like to open this by saying that if you are an 4na or 3d bl0g that I have followed, please block me. I am in recovery, and do not intend to return to that lifestyle. I am in counseling, and I wish you the best. Sometimes I have "episodes" where I use this bl0g to seek out images and posts that "motivate" me to st4rve. I do not look down on anyone with these issues, and I hope you are safe and get whatever help and support you need.
** actual introduction here! **
Hello! I don't do great with intros so I'll just start describing what I like to post about and discuss!
I am a college student pursuing software engineering, with an end goal of video game programming and design. My initial goal was to get my name in the credits of a Pokemon game, but now my ambition has furthered into going right to GAME FREAK. This will mean learning Japanese - which I planned to do anyway.
I've always been a weeb. Anime, manga and video games sparked my interest in Japan, but I know that there's so much more to the country than that. I am learning what I can when I can so I can be respectful and not f3tishize the culture and people. Right now, my favorite games to play are Splatoon 3, Pokemon Violet (I bought the DLC but haven't started it yet), and Fire Emblem: Awakening (I haven't finished it yet!).
I like to watch anime and cartoons. My favorite anime are The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, School Live!, and Aggretsuko. My favorite cartoons are Steven Universe, Bojack Horseman, and Adventure Time (I saw episodes as it aired but haven't sat down to watch it all. I'm going to start soon! No spoilers please ^_^).
I like to draw, though I haven't found the time to do so as of late between college and working.
I consider myself a feminist, and am very concerned about various "political" and "controversial" topics. If you don't like my views, feel free to block me. I will absolutely consider different opinions, but arguing for the sake of arguing is a waste of both your time and mine.

Would you say the Game Awards are taken seriously like the Oscars or nah?
I'm sure if you're a big studio making a game and somebody gives you a nice, heavy, award statue, you're going to like feeling important. Everybody does.
Otherwise? No. Hahaha, no. The selection process and how they tabulate winners always feels totally strange. They always go for famous names and ignore marginalized voices.
Which, I mean, is something people complain about for the Oscars too, I guess.
Like "creator of the year" or whatever their dumb award is. It's always down to four people and either I've never heard of them before in my life, or I've only heard of them because they're known for being toxic, insane, or nasty. Look at these nominees:
TotalBiscuit (2014, won)
Pewdiepie (2014)
Boogie2988 (2016, won)
AngryJoe (2016)
Dr. Disrespect (2017, won)
Dream (2021, won)
You could argue that these are categories voted on by the community, but when your options are so limited, I wonder how many people just don't bother voting at all? I mean, jeeze, Dr. Disrespect beat out the one of the main people behind Ablegamers. A man who's entire schtick is a pornstache, greasy mullet wig, and a C+ Tom Cruise impression beat out one of the hardest working gaming advocacy groups and charities in the world.
I can't take those awards seriously. Not ever.
But as I implied earlier, The Oscars aren't exactly a gold standard, either. I'm not so cynical as to say they were always garbage, but bare minimum, they've been on the decline for a long time now.
All these things are is a pageant of money that's a world apart from you or me.
Here, let me try to predict the winners:
Game of the Year: Elden Ring
Best Direction: Elden Ring
Best Narrative: God of War Ragnarok
Best Art Direction: Horizon Forbidden West
Best Music: Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Best Audio Design: Modern Warfare II
Best Performance: Sunny Suljic for God of War Ragnarok
Games For Impact: As Dusk Falls
Best Ongoing Game: Apex Legends
Best Indie: Stray
Best Mobile Game: Marvel Snap
Best Community Support: No Man's Sky
Best VR Game: Bonelab
Best Innovation in Accessibility: God of War Ragnarok
Best Action Game: Modern Warfare II
Best Action/Adventure Game: God of War Ragnarok
Best RPG: Elden Ring
Best Fighting Game: Multiversus
Best Family Game: Splatoon 3
Best Sports Game: Gran Turismo 7
Best Sim Game: Mario x Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Best Multiplayer: Modern Warfare II
Best Debut: Vampire Survivors
Most Anticipated: Starfield
Best Adaptation: Cyberpunk Edgerunners
These are not my picks, these are picks I feel like this kind of awards show always gravitates towards. The further in to this list we get the more fuzzy my predictions get, but I stand by the fact I think this is the state of The Game Awards.

The Game Awards announced its list of 2022 nominees
Companies already use The Game Awards to pitch related movies and shows, but now the event will officially recognize those productions. Organizers have revealed that the 2022 Game Awards will take place on December 8th with a new Best Adaptation category.
