Music Makers Ivan Hampden Jr. and Paulette McWilliams Serve Up Pink Champagne For The Holidays

Fresh off the success of their neo-soul UK Soul Charting smash, "Mama's Kitchen Table," multi-Grammy nominated Ivan Hampden Jr., and Paulette McWilliam return with the new Christmas song, "Pink Champagne," that's sure to be a classic.
"Pink Champagne," tells of a wife's struggle to find the perfect Christmas gift for her husband. The lush Holiday Heartache tune draws from the distinctive vocal stylings of Nancy Wilson, Marlena Shaw, and Eartha Kitt.
Paulette's distinctive vocal stylings give a different context to the holidays, making heartache and redemption part of the celebration.
“I've been heartbroken during the holidays and don't know another song that identifies with this topic,” says the song lyricist Max Szadek. "I hope "Pink Champagne" offers solace to anyone experiencing heartbreak during the holidays."
Paulette seamlessly nails the fusion of jazz and soul, contrasting clear upper arcs of melody with a breathy lower register. But, above all, "Pink Champagne" demonstrates Paulette's power as a storyteller. Her delivery and cadences are like velvet.
Beautifully arranged and produced by multi-Grammy nominated Ivan Hampden Jr., who made a name for himself working for Luther Vandross, Ashford & Simpson, and Eartha Kitt. His previous Christmas hit, "Mistletoe Jam," which appears on Luther Vandross's platinum-certified "This Is Christmas" album, is a perennial favorite with fans.
Regarding slowing down the groove, Ivan found inspiration in his former employer, Eartha Kitt's seasonal smash, "Santa Baby."
"Eartha's sultry vocal style and phrasing are supported by the music, not overwhelmed by it on "Santa Baby. How they work together is why it's still so popular," says Max Szadek.
According to the old music charts, Eartha Kitt's most famous song is "Santa Baby." Released in 1953, "Santa Baby" hit #4 on the U.S. charts making it her highest charting hit.
"Pink Champagne" will be available to stream and download from October 2022.
Ivan Hampden Jr. is an American jazz and R&B drummer, composer, and record producer. Ivan Hampden Jr. is the Arranger/Musician/Programmer on two Grammy Award-winning recordings at the 2004 Grammy Awards: Best R&B Album "Dance With My Father" performed by Luther Vandross, and Best R&B Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocals "The Closer I Get to You" performed by Beyoncé and Luther Vandross.
Paulette McWilliams is an American singer and songwriter. She began her career singing with the bands The American Breed and Rufus and has appeared as a backing vocalist on recordings and tours for numerous artists. She worked with Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, The Jacksons, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, and as a member of Bette Midler's backing group, the Harlettes, among many others.
