if kishimoto didn't want us to ship gay ninjas together....he should have made more of the kunoichi more visible... this is hilarious to me

kakashi is basically the village bicycle with the shipping potential. kakagai. kakairu. kakaita. kakabito.

and of course thats not to say anything bout the ol' akatsuki ships of yore. the gay longing turned to resentment turned to hatred for orochimaru and jiraiya. the possiblities. nejilee enemies to friends to lovers to grief pipeline. nagato and yahiko!!! the potential!!!

the PLETHORA of ways to ship naruto with LITERALLY ANYONE because of his way to win anyone over with his sunshine and determination. narusasu. narugaara. narushika. naruneji. narukankuro even. naruto could plausibly be shipped with anyone in the full rookie 12 and it'd be believable. but the most chemistry we see him have canonically is with his bois. his homies. kiss your bro on the cheek kinda way.

just the evolution of naruto as a metatextual journey over time blows my mind sometimes, because of the way fanfiction has shown the different unique combinations and permutations to explore and remix character relationships based on their canonical links, has pointed out so much potential for gay yearning, hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, enemies to friends to lovers scenarios that demonstrates to me that to grow up as a gay kid in the 2000s on the internet you have at least 5 naruto ships and 3 of them are gay.

all of this just because i read a kakashi/iruka fic. my true naruto otp is kakashi/happiness btw
