Corner Lot Modern Farmhouse

Happy Thursday, my friends.. or whichever day you’re seeing this. How are you today? I must say that I spent most of my week feeling a little grumpy. I am usually very positive, always feeling thankful for everything, which I really am, but this winter got to me! It’s being really cold and we’re getting so much snow that I am missing getting outside and breathing some fresh air without feeling as if I am breathing icicles! 🙂

But life goes on and nothing’s better than a day after the other, right? I am feeling better today for two reasons: You can’t change how it’s outside but you can certainly change how you feel inside. Besides, being grumpy because how the weather is, is being a little spoiled, right?! When something is not the way you wish it was, just laugh at the situation. Improve what you can and laugh at the rest. Nothing is fully in our control and that’s a blessing! 🙂

New Classic White Kitchen – Renovation Inspiration There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing how happy my clients are after their projects are completed. I started designing this white kitchen for a client in California last December and after a lot of planning and countless hardworking hours the homeowner, the cabinet maker and the contractor put into this project, we finally can say that we ended up with a kitchen that not feels classic but also current. I have offered online interior design services for many years now and this is the second kitchen I designed for this client. I feel that we connect really well and we complement each other’s ideas. Designing a kitchen online is not an easy task. The homeowner really needs to not be afraid to put their hands into it and be ready to make some important decisions, and I must say that I am honestly very proud of how everything came together in this kitchen. In this post I will share many details; from paint colors, flooring, lighting, countertop, backsplash to other details that make this space be a new classic when it comes to white kitchen design. New Classic White Kitchen – Renovation Inspiration A kitchen must be more than beautiful and trendy; it certainly has to be practical. This kitchen is full of useful spaces that I can’t wait to share with you! Kitchen Demo Day We started the kitchen renovation by removing all of the old cabinets and floor tile. We then partially demolished the left wall that separated the kitchen from the formal living room (currently used as dining room). View The kitchen now feels more open and more connected with the rest of the house. This is the view of the kitchen from the dining room. Cabinetry All cabinets were custom designed and made by a very talented local cabinet maker. Sink is a Rohl RC3618WH 36-Inch by 18-Inch by 10-Inch Shaws Lancaster Single Bowl Fireclay Kitchen Sink with 3-1/2-Inch Drain, White. Refrigerator Drawers Paneled undercounter refrigerator drawers are located on the right from the main sink. Countertop I am a huge fan of white quartzite and my client loves them as well. The one we chose for this kitchen is Mont Blanc. Quartzite is a very hard natural stone and it’s more durable than marble; therefore I tend to recommend them quite often. Cabinet Style Doors are shaker style with custom mullion. Pull Out Spice Racks My client loves to cook and having everything organized was a must. These pull out racks flank the cooktop and are perfect to store cooking oils and spices. Spice Storage Located above the pull out racks, these two small drawers keep dry spices handy and organized. Pull Out Baking Station This custom baking station has a base mixer shelf that swings up from the base kitchen cabinet. My client has all of her measuring cups, spoons, spices, sugar, flour in the drawers below the mixer base. Layout We created an archway that now leads to the new dining room space. Built-in cabinets anchor the newly trimmed archway. Cabinet Paint Color The cabinet paint color is Benjamin Moore OC-117 Simply White. I can’t tell you how happy I am with this hutch! It truly brings a timeless feel to this kitchen. Notice the cabinet feet details and the custom glass doors with Eclipse mullion. Oven Cabinet This part of the kitchen also features some inspiring designs! Appliances are Bosh. Pull Out Oven Shelf The custom pull out tray within this drawer is to place pans on prior to putting in the speed oven or when removing from it. Baking Sheet Cabinet Spacious storage above the oven is perfect for baking sheets and large serving plates. Flooring We removed the old tile and added White Oak hardwood floors to bring warmth and the right texture to complement the white cabinetry. AMD Vega Next-Gen GPU Architecture Revealed: Here’s What We Know

FreeSync 2 isn’t AMD’s only announcement this week. The company has also revealed its upcoming Vega architecture which will power its next-generation video cards. The price or exact product names are unknown at the moment, though an early release of the Lenovo Y520 spec sheet has alluded Vega could take the form of the Radeon RX 500 series at first.

AMD shared a few details related to Vega with Gadgets 360 and other select media outlets at an event in Sonoma, California last month, and while specifics were hard to come by, here's everything we know so far.

AMD Vega high bandwidth memory According to Raja Koduri, Senior Vice President and Chief Architect, Radeon Technologies Group, Vega is the "world’s most scalable GPU memory architecture". It features high bandwidth cache, eight times the capacity per stack and twice the bandwidth per pin versus last year’s Radeon Fury and up to 512TB of addressable space.

What does this mean? These specifications are related to Vega’s second generation High Bandwidth Memory or HBM technology — which first made its presence felt in the Radeon R9 Fury. HBM2 offers eight times the capacity and twice the bandwidth due to higher clock speeds versus the last flagship Radeon.

AMD Reveals Radeon FreeSync 2: Here’s What You Need to Know

AMD Vega vs AMD Fury Comparatively, first-generation HBM maxed out at around 1GB per stack and 128GB/s of bandwidth per stack. Safe to say HBM2 comes in stacks of up to 8GB and 256GB/s of bandwidth going by AMD’s claims. Furthermore, the company claims that it is five times more power efficient versus other graphics memory and has a 50 percent smaller footprint versus GDDR5.

As for the high bandwidth cache controller, it allows for 512TB of virtual address space, quite likely made possible by swapping data in and out of it. This results in adaptive, fine-grained data movement. More importantly, a smoother experience in games such as The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 at 3840x2160 at ultra settings. The performance was gauged via internal tests of an early Vega sample using an AMD Summit Ridge pre-release CPU with 8GB DDR4 RAM, Vega GPU (exact model was not disclosed), Windows 10 64-bit, and an AMD test driver as of December 5, 2016. We will of course test how this plays in the real world when we get our hands on it.

AMD Zen Is Now Ryzen, Desktop CPUs Clocked at 3.4GHz+ Coming Q1 2017

AMD Vega programmable geometry pipeline AMD Corporate Fellow Mike Mantor explained that thanks to a new programmable geometry pipeline gamers can expect over twice the peak throughput per clock as well as improved load balancing to allow for a smoother delivery of frames.

With a new programmable geometry pipeline comes primitive shaders. This could break down complex shader operations into simpler, smaller tasks that are quicker to render, while ensuring your games look just as good.

AMD Says Virtual Reality Hasn't Found Its Killer App Yet

AMD Vega next-generation compute engine Also new is Vega’s compute engine. Dubbed as next-generation compute unit (NCU), it’s optimised for high clock speeds and more inter-process communications (IPC). This allows Vega GPUs to process more operations in the same timeframe compared to previous implementations, freeing up cache and memory for other tasks faster.

Given how erratic graphic workloads are, it will be interesting to see if there are any major tangible benefits to NCU. AMD states that its possible to complete 512 8-bit operations per clock, 256 16-bit operations per clock, and 128 32-bit operations per clock.

AMD Radeon RX 470, Radeon RX 460 Availability and Specifications Detailed

AMD Vega next-generation pixel engine Speed aside, Vega has a few tricks to render images a lot more efficiently by reducing memory bandwidth consumption. The result of this is the next-generation pixel engine. This contains what the company calls a Draw Stream Binning Rasteriser. Fancy nomenclature aside, what it does is fetch image details crucial to a scene once, storing them in an on-chip bin cache and renders only those details visible in a scene rather than every part of an entire 3D image, possibly designed to compete with Nvidia’s Tiled Based Rasterizer that debuted with its Maxwell video cards as per this patent filing.

AMD Vega is gaming and a lot more? Game developers seem excited by what AMD has brought to the table. Billy Khan, Lead Project Programmer at id, makers of 2016’s superlative Doom said “console and PC development is now closer than ever.” Lending credence to the notion - though it’s still speculation at this point - that parts of Vega, if not all of it, will find its way into Microsoft’s Project Scorpio.

However, we won’t be surprised to see it find its way into Machine Learning, Natural Data Processing, non-gaming VR, and high-resolution HDR content creation among other spheres. After all, the enterprise segment is one crucial market AMD has been trying to gain a foothold in for awhile, and Vega just might be what it needs.

MSI Radeon RX 470 Gaming X Review

Will you actually be able to buy one? This will be a major point of concern for many. In the past AMD’s high-end GPUs have been a pain to find in India. Compounded by a poor RX 480 launch, the company is aware of its shortcomings in terms of distribution. Given that it would cost more than an RX 480 or the more economical RX 470 and 460, we won’t be surprised to see AMD take an alternate approach to distribution that Koduri alluded to in an interview with Gadgets 360 late last year.

Recently designed by Krista + Home Design, this 6000 sqft waterfront beach house is nestled on the Intracoastal Waterway in Tequesta, Florida. The homeowner has teenage boys, so she wanted something comfortable and family friendly with classic touches. The interior designer gave this beach house a clean, coastal design that is inviting and livable for all the family members.

Traditional Home with Classic Design Ideas

Hello, my friends. How are you doing? I honestly can’t believe Christmas is a week away from today! Oh, wow… I can feel butterflies when I think about it and yes, I am allowing myself to be like a child at this special moment of the year. I think that only children can feel the magic of Christmas and I am hoping to have some of that… I hope you allow yourself to have a truly peaceful and happy time with your loved ones, from start to finish.

I could talk about Christmas for a long time, but that might tire you and I am guessing you’re here to see some inspiring interiors, right? If not, leave a comment about your favorite Christmas traditions at the end of the post. I will love to know them! Meanwhile, I am really excited to share this gorgeous historic home renovation by Edward Deegan Architects and Interiors (previously featured here, here , here & here – find a comfy spot and make sure to see these house tours!).

If you think that classic and traditional interior design are boring, this home will change your mind! Sure, you will find some extraordinary architectural details that you’re only able to find in historic homes, but the design here really brings this entire home to the next level. Forget everything you have seen when it comes to renovations. This team knows how to keep things fresh and current without compromising on quality.

Traditional Home with Classic Design Ideas

Designing a spacious and practical kitchen in a historic home is always more complicated than anyone can anticipate, but the designers did an excellent job with this space. The entire room was completely reconfigurated and it now hosts a large kitchen with two islands, a Breakfast Nook and a large Family Room.

Grilles

This kitchen island features Butcher countertop and a panel-ready beverage center. Custom cabinet doors with metal diamond-shaped grilles and wire mesh add a timeless appeal to the island.

Kitchen Island Paint Color

The designer added the diamond detail on the island to match the windows in this historic home renovation. Kitchen island paint color is Farrow and Ball Hague Blue No. 30. This is a great, vivid, navy blue!

The breakfast nook features a custom L-shaped banquette. These windows inspired the diamond inset detail on the kitchen island. Aren’t they beautiful?!

Inspiring Home Renovation

Hi, my dear friends. How are today? It’s getting really cold here and I had to take a little break while writing this post to make myself a mug of hot chocolate. I am being so bad about sweets lately! I am really into baking and all I will say is that I have to put myself back on track! Anyone feeling the same way? It’s so hard to avoid these type of temptations at this time of the year, right?

You can’t think about food without thinking of kitchens… unless you love to eat out, which is something I also love doing! But if you enjoy cooking and baking, having a beautiful kitchen certainly can make you feel more inspired and even help make things easier and more practical. If you’re looking for kitchen renovation ideas, this post should really inspire you. In fact, it might even inspire you to renovate not only your kitchen but also extend it to your mudroom and laundry room as well. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Please keep reading to know more details about this beautiful and welcoming home renovation done by Katelyn of KBG Design. She’s a wonderful and talented interior designer and I feel we will learn a thing or two with her today:

“Our clients wanted a bright and classic white kitchen/ laundry/ mud room with touches of warm grey and accents of marble, brass, and natural wood elements. They wanted to keep the color palette neutral so that colorful accessories could be swapped out during various holidays throughout the year. This project was an addition plus an interior remodel reconfiguration. We were brought in on the project after permits were already pulled, but did some tweaks to the plans during construction to accommodate details that the homeowner wanted. From there, we custom designed all the cabinetry, built-ins and tile layouts and we quite involved during construction to ensure proper design execution.” – Katelyn of KBG Design.

Inspiring Home Renovation

Designer Tip: “If you want to do away with an eat-in kitchen table, make sure you have plenty of room for seating at your island – and be mindful as to where those are placed. Play close attention to keeping guests out of the kitchen’s main work-triangle i.e. the connection between the sink/fridge/cooktop. I often place the refrigerator right at the transition between the public and private space of the kitchen just like this kitchen. That way, guests can access the refrigerator without crossing through the cook’s work triangle.”

White Kitchen Paint Color

Soft Color Palette: “For the cabinet paint color, I selected Dunn Edward’s “Cool December”, which I feel is the perfect balance of a white that is not too creamy or yellow, but still has hints of warmth to it. It’s basically the perfect white.”

Vent Hood: Zephyr 42”.

Pot Filler: Kingston Brass.

Backsplash

“For the backsplash, my clients wanted a traditional honed Carrara Marble so we went with the 3” x 6” size in an offset pattern by Bedrosians. This really shows off the variety of veining throughout the natural stone.”

Eat-in

“Many of our clients are doing away with kitchen tables and opting for super large islands. That way family and guests can be close by or dine informally while still gathering together in the kitchen.”

Dimensions: Kitchen space is 26’-7” x 14’ deep or 365 square feet including the desk command center area.

All Appliances by GE Monogram.

Kitchen Island

“Because this island is so large (7’-8” x 10’), we were larger than any single available engineered quartz material. So, we opted to source a manufacturer that makes consecutive slabs. You’d never know it, but this island has a seam but it’s unnoticeable in real life and in pictures.

The island countertop is Vadara’s Calcatta Blanco, an engineered quartz, which again has ribbons of warm gray mixed with gold on a mostly off-white background.”

Kitchen Sink: Kohler Undermount single-bowl farmhouse kitchen sink.

Kitchen Faucet: Kingston Brass Bridge-Style Kitchen Faucet.

White Oak Island

“The island was custom stained by the cabinet maker to match the warm-toned engineered hardwood flooring by Hallmark Floors, Alta Vista Collection in color Del Mar.”

Homework Zone

Kitchen Trends: “Many clients are requesting built-in desks areas that I call a command center- if you will. A place for a laptop or desktop computer, file storage, charging stations, etc.”

Cabinetry

“We went through great lengths to design every inch of the cabinetry to give it a truly custom look. My client has beautiful taste so she was already equipped with several concept images and selections to inspired our designs. Instead of a traditional one-piece crown, we created our our crown by inverting a base moulding plus a 1” x 1” which is traditional with a twist – and might be my favorite part of the kitchen.”

Perimeter Countertop

“The perimeter is a velvet Cabrini Grey engineered quartz by Daltile. The grey perimeter broke up all the white cabinetry without weighing the color palette down.”

Family Living

The kitchen opens to a comfy and inviting family room.

The fireplace is flanked by custom cabinets and White Oak floating shelves.

Reinvented White Kitchen Design

Recently designed by my friends at Stonington Cabinetry & Designs, this white kitchen with grey island comes with many reinvented design ideas that certainly can improve the quality of any kitchen design. Although not very spacious – this kitchen belongs to a Historic home in New Jersey – the cabinetry layout offers plenty of storage and counter space. This kitchen also features two double garbage roll-outs, knife drawer, cutlery dividers and slanted spice drawer. How amazing is that?!

The cabinet makers are truly talented and they have been in business for over 30 years (starting with the parents and now owned by two brothers), and if you read the blog for a while or follow me on Instagram and Pinterest, chances are that you have seen this “Grey Kitchen Design” designed by them. This kitchen actually became of the most popular kitchens ever shared on Home Bunch and I am truly honored to share their work on the blog again.

Reinvented White Kitchen Design

The perimeter cabinets are in a paint match to Benjamin Moore Simply White. Notice the hutch cabinet on the far right.

Grey Island Paint Color

The grey kitchen island is a paint match to Behr Shadow Mountain.

Sink in island is an undermount fireclay sink by Rohl.

Island faucet is by Waterstone.

Countertop & Backsplash

One of my favorite part of this kitchen is the exotic marble with double thickness countertop.

Counters are a marble, honed Alpi Apuane.

Backsplash is a crackled subway tile.

Pot Filler: Rohl.

Cabinetry

Cabinetry is no bead inset cabinetry configuration.

Hardware

The hardware is polished nickel from Emtek small drawer pulls, large drawer pulls, doors.

Counterstools

Counterstools are custom, Vanguard with Perennials fabric – here (with Perennials Performance Cabana Stripe – Platinum – same fabric used on counterstools above). Other More Affordable Options: here, here, here & here.

Appliances & Hood

Appliances: Wolf 48″ dual fuel range (similar here), with a 54″ custom hood by Modern Aire Ventilation. Sub-Zero 42″ stainless french door bottom freezer drawer built in refrigerator, set up flush inset. Sharp 24″ micro drawer, also set up flush inset. Two Miele fully integrated dishwashers left and right from kitchen sink, Marvel- 24″ undercounter beverage center and wine center fully integrated in the server section.

Quality & Quantity

All interior shelving and drawer boxes are natural Walnut.

Sink, Faucet & Flooring

Hardwood flooring is a match to the original floors throughout- wide plank oak floors with walnut screw caps custom stained to about a dark walnut color – Other Beautiful Hardwood Flooring: here, here, here, here & here.

Sink: 36″ Rohl Shaw’s Original fireclay sink.

Kitchen faucet is by Kohler, polished nickel.
