WQAU Fire Scene
How the fire scene would go down in my Wrong Queens AU !!
(This isn't how I typically write btw this is just the breakdown, no dialouge, mostly no inner thoughts version of the scene and leadup. The story is mostly told through Ashfur's POV and that affects how he sees the characters and the situations to some extent)
OK so.
When Ferncloud was pregnant with Foxkit and Icekit, Ashfur was very involved in helping out around the nursery (mostly because Squirrelflight was nursing her kits at that time), while helping Leafpool grab some herbs, she mentioned that she once heard of a queen whose litter had two fathers, and that made Ashfur think. He was intimate with Squirrelflight around the time when she got pregnant, and several of her kits look nothing like her or Brambleflower, so it was “logical” to assume that a few of them could be his.
Ashfur started scheming, coming up with how he could get Squirrelflight back for just using him to get together with Brambleflower, and he decided that if he got one of her kits to help him, it would hurt her even more.
As Squirrelflight’s litter grows and their personalities and appearance become more obvious, Ashfur concludes that Dovekit and Jaykit are his kits. (He doesn’t think Lionkit is his because he’s “really similar to his dick of a father Brambleflower”, he thinks Hollykit just looks like Brambleflower painted black and orange, and he thinks that Ivykit has a similar enough coat pattern to her aunt Tawnyclaw that they must be related).
ANYWAYS, Ashfur talks to Firestar before the kits are apprenticed and requests Dovekit to be his apprentice, she’s optimistic and naive, not as snappy and prickly as the other option Jaykit, and Ashfur knows that Jaykit is looking into becoming a medicine cat, so that’s why he decides Dovekit would be easier to mold.
So when Dovekit becomes Dovepaw and is apprenticed to Ashfur, he’s ecstatic. Around this time, a cat in his dreams starts bringing him to a dark and starless place and he starts training in The Dark Forest. He’s tough on Dovepaw, but also very rewarding, beating her up in training and then telling her how proud he is of her and how much of a talented cat she is. Dovepaw slowly becomes dependent on him for affection, isolated from her family members because she’s so exhausted from her (frequent) brutal training that all she can do in her free time is sleep. Ashfur starts bringing her to The Dark Forest, showing her how the clan “limits their potential”, and how great she could be without them dragging her down.
Dovepaw grows resentful of her siblings and around this time, develops her powers. Ashfur notices this and starts slowly pushing her to use her abilities to spy on Squirrelflight and Dovepaw’s siblings.
(Incase you’re wondering, Lionpaw was apprenticed to Brightheart and was never brought into the dark forest because of her positive influence compared to Ashfur’s).
Moons go by with Dovepaw growing more and more hateful and isolated as her siblings become entangled with Sol, and her being left out due to how negative and uncooperative she’d become. She got her warrior name, Dovewing, and Ashfur decided that it was time to put his plan into motion.
When the camp caught alight, he asked Dovewing to get as many cats out as possible, keeping her busy while he slowly rounded up Squirrelflight and her litter to where he wanted them to be, blocking their exits with carefully placed burning branches. As Squirrelflight led Lionstorm, Ivypool, Hollyclaw, and Jayfeather around the cliff edge he signaled to Dovewing to follow him. When the path behind Squirrelflight set ablaze, Ashfur knew it was his time.
He lept towards her dragging the branch over to her kits before blocking their exit. He ushered Dovewing to cross the bridge to help her siblings, and as she started walking he began his monologue to Squirrelflight.
Telling her about everything he resented about her, how he was going to make her hurt in the only way he could, taking away everything a selfish cat like her cared about, and how he was going to use one of her kits to help him do it. Squirrelflight desperately tried to get him to stop, frantically saying that Jayfeather, Lionstorm, and Hollyclaw weren’t even her kits, but Ashfur didn’t listen. Dovewing turned, horror slowly creeping onto her face, she realized what he planned to do, and Ashfur kicked the log into the flame-filled camp.
But Dovewing didn’t fall with it. She lept onto Ashfur through the fire, her pelt catching alight. As she sunk her teeth into his throat, she was engulfed in the flame, and Ashfur was set ablaze with her.
Jayfeather, Hollyclaw, Lionstorm, and Ivypool were trapped, and Squirrelflight was left with no way to get them out, she yowled for help desperately looking for something she could use to bridge the gap.
Leafpool and Sandstorm burst through the bushes, and they managed to drag a thick branch over to Squirrelflight’s kits. They crawled through the fire, Hollyclaw burned, and the others coughing up smoke, but they were alive. Squirrelflight sobbed over Dovewing’s body, barely aware as Leafpool led her remaining kits away and Sandstorm gently pulled her, Dovewing, and Ashfur away from the flames.
So yeah that's basically how it went down and how Dovewing died !!

Some people don't seem to understand that Bramble wasn't upset at the three, he took it out on them (wrongly) because he was upset he had been lied to by the cat he was supposed to be able to trust (by which she proved she didn't trust him.) People also seem to forget Bramble himself had adopted 'siblings' in Feathertail and Stormfur! I'm a psychology major (I'm graduating with my BA this summer so I'd like to think I'm a little qualified to profile and diagnose these fictional meow meows,) in the situation with Squirrel, Leaf and the three, Bramble didn't know who to take his frustrations and anger out on, hence it manifesting on the three, and him being a not-so-great husband to Squirrel. They should have split up, but the Erin's don't understand divorce is a thing ig, it would have been a) much better for them both mentally, and b) it would have provided a new narrative for the story (even if it was a b plot.) Both Squirrel and Bramble (and subsequently Leaf as well but she's a different story I'm not going to get in to rn) are in the wrong. They both did things they shouldn't, I wish people would stop assuming Bramble is just an abuser because he can be (honestly I don't think he even qualifies as an abuser, not even mentally. He and Squirrel fall into the same category of not being able to properly express their emotions without getting angry. Take a look at some of the things Squirrel says to Bramble during TNP and vice versa. These two, in my own opinion, should never have become mates, they fit more as siblings.) And they need to stop calling Squirrelflight petty and childish. These two went through hell as children, Bramble via Tigerstar and that drama (along with likely having PTSD from TNP) and Squirrel dealing with the TNP stuff (again PTSD likely) and then having the burden of others comparing her to Firestar. They both have issues. No one is innocent in this situation, and I just wish people would realize that.
Yes, Bramble absolutely was mad at Squirrel not the 3, and he took his anger out on the three because he is terrible with emotions (and a terrible dad).
I think that Bramble had every right to be mad at Squirrel for not telling him, he was lied to about his own children, by his mate. That being said, I 100% understand why Squirrel didn’t tell him, Bramble has shown no reason for why Squirrel should trust him, and he has shown to be an easily angered cat who will greatly punish Squirrel for the smallest offences. Squirrel had no reason to believe that Bramble would help her and Leaf if he knew, and since Bramble is in a place of power, telling him could endanger Leaf and Squirrel. Also! Squirrel didn’t even want to take the kits because she didn’t want to lie to Bramble, but Starclan literally told/tricked her into doing it. That doesn’t change that Bramble is allowed to be mad, and hurt by what happened, I really think they should have just stayed divorced after this.
This is like the one time I can understand, and validate Bramble’s anger toward Squirrel for something, every singe other time they fight he is in the wrong. I hate him sm.
I also want to say that even though its understandable for Bramble to be mad at Squirrel, his actions as a result of his anger are in no way okay. He is terrible to his children, and he is terrible to Squirrel. Even if he is mad at her, he has no right to make her life hell, he is deputy (aka. her boss) and he is shown to use his power to take his anger out on Squirrel many many times.
I also want to point out that it literally took Bramble wanting to help Shadowclan out of love for Tawnypelt to realize that Squirrelflight did what she did because she loves her sister.... Like BRO why did you think she did it??? out of just feeling like fucking with you??? He’s so stupid, and is so bad at empathy.
Anywho I do really think that Bramblestar shows some serious signs of being an abuser, and to anyone who wants a good explanation for why a lot of ppl think this watch Moonkitti’s vid Bramblestar is Worse! It gives a really good summary of the Bramble is an abuser argument.

What if Tawnypelt joined Windclan instead of Shadowclan in the Darkest Hour?
She left because she was sick of Smallear comparing her to her father, but why would she join Tigerstar in the first place? So she goes to Windclan, the long time allies of Thunderclan and explains her situation, Tallstar is more than understanding and welcomes her to Windclan. Not long after this, Tigerclan attacks Windclan. Tawnypaw sees her father about to kill her new denmate and attacks him.
I remember the scene from that part, Tigerstar had pinned down Gorsepaw and had his warriors keep all the Windclan cats out of the circle so that Tigerstar could make a spectacle out of killing the apprentice.
Tawnypaw leaped over the Tigerclan warriors, barrelling into her father, clawing at his ears as she forced him to roll over off of Gorsepaw who is still laying there in shock. Normally a tiny apprentice wouldn’t have been able to knock Tigerstar off balance at all, but Tigerstar also was not expecting to be attacked in that moment.
In retaliation, Tigerstar raked his claws over one of his assailants eyes before breaking apart. To his shock, the cat who attacked him was none other than his own daughter, who despite the injury of her eye, was getting ready to attack him again.
Tigerstar feels guilty for attacking his own daughter like that but is also impressed that she had taken him on so readily. He calls for Tigerclan to retreat, assuming that his daughter’s appearance meant that Thunderclan was coming with reinforcements.
Thunderclan shows up soon after, disappointed that they didn’t arrive in time to help, and find Tawnypaw sitting with Gorsepaw who was being treated for shock by Barkface. Tallstar takes Firestar aside and explains how Tawnypaw arrived at sunhigh asking to join Windclan due to her treatment in Thunderclan. Tallstar hadn’t officially welcomed her to Windclan because of Tigerclan’s attack, Tallstar also understands that it was mostly the elders and senior warriors who were making Tawnypaw feel the way she did and not Thunderclan as a whole.
Firestar goes to speak with Tawnypaw, asking her if she’ll come back but is much more understanding when she decides to stay with Windclan, though she does agree to come back to see her mother and brother to explain why she left.
Firestar turns it into a ceremony, with the clan sending her off with well wishes and heartfelt goodbyes. Smallear makes a point of not speaking with Tawnypaw when the elders step forward to say their goodbyes, and if the entire clan makes a point of not fetching him food or changing his bedding for the next week, Firestar doesn’t mention it.
No clue how this would effect TNP, y’all can decide that. But maybe Tawnypelt ends up with Gorsepaw?? I dunno. I also really like the name Tawnyflight, could be her warrior name because she left Thunderclan to spread her wings in Windclan

Fictional character biographyEdit
Machine Man, whose real name is Z2P45-9-X-51, was the last of a series of sentient robots created at the Broadhurst Center for the Advancement of Mechanized Research in Central City, California, by robotics expert Dr. Abel Stack for the US Army. However, all previous 50 experimental robots went mad as they achieved sentience and became psychotic, due to a lack of identity. X-51 was the only survivor, as he was treated as a son by Stack and given a human face mask as well as being exposed to one of the monoliths from 2001. After Stack died trying to protect him, X-51 assumed the human name Aaron Stack and escaped confinement, only to be relentlessly pursued by the army. X-51 named himself Mister Machine in issue #9 of the 10-issue run of 2001.
While on the run, the newly christened Machine Man initiated contact with humanity in order to better understand it.[5] After being captured and later freed, Machine Man was found by psychiatrist Peter Spaulding. He also battled Col. Krag's troops.[6] Soon after that, he first encountered Curtiss Jackson.[7] Alongside the Hulk, he battled Curtiss Jackson.[8] Soon after that, he was redesigned and rebuilt by Dr. Oliver Broadhurst.[9] He then first encountered the Fantastic Four.[10] He then met mechanic "Gears" Garvin, and then battled Baron Brimstone.[11] He also battled Madame Menace (Sunset Bain).[12] He then first encountered Aurora, Northstar, and Sasquatch of Alpha Flight.[13] Spaulding and Garvin set up Machine Man with a human identity as Aaron Stack, insurance investigator for the Delmar Insurance Company,[14] but he continued having adventures as a superhero on the side.[volume & issue needed]
In Iron Man #168 (March 1983), Machine Man attempts to pay Iron Man a visit. Machine Man was seeking to compare notes with Iron Man, thought to be a robot by Machine Man. At the time, Iron Man was drunk, irate, and under considerable stress from the machinations of Obadiah Stane. Iron Man attacked Machine Man and almost killed two of his own employees. At the last possible second, Machine Man's extendable arm pushed them out of the way.[15]
In a meeting with the Thing of the Fantastic Four, Machine Man also first met and fell in love with another sentient robot, Jocasta. Alongside the Thing and Jocasta, he battled Ultron. However, during the battle, Machine Man witnessed the seeming destruction of Jocasta by Ultron.[16]
In 1990, Machine Man guest-starred in Iron Man Annual #11 (part of the "Terminus Factor" storyline). That story created strong hints that the 2020 Machine Man may turn out not to be the true X-51, but instead a duplicate created by Sunset Bain. The story concludes in Thor Annual #15, also in 1990.
He later fought alongside the Avengers,[volume & issue needed] which led to the invitation to become a team reservist.[volume & issue needed] Later he was captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., who wanted to use his technology to create another Deathlok. He helps the X-Men and Douglock against the villainous Red Skull, who had taken over the Helicarrier where Machine Man was held.[17]
He helped the X-Men again against Bastion and his Sentinels.[volume & issue needed] As a consequence, he was infected by Sentinel programming, assuming a more robotic look in the subsequent series X-51, and losing self-control whenever he was faced with a mutant. During this series he was on the run from Sebastian Shaw, who wants his technology for himself. Because of his new programming, while seeking aid from the Avengers, he attacks Justice and Firestar. Because of his actions against Justice and Firestar, X-51's membership in the Avengers is revoked. At the end of X-51, X-51 encountered one of the monoliths and disappeared, brought into the presence of the monolith's creators, the cosmic beings known as the Celestials.[volume & issue needed]
Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.Edit
Main article: Nextwave
Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen's Nextwave series sees Machine Man join a team formed by the Highest Anti-Terrorism Effort, or H.A.T.E. (a subsidiary of the Beyond Corporation©) to fight Unusual Weapons of Mass Destruction.[volume & issue needed] Now preferring simply to be called Aaron, Machine Man is partnered with Monica Rambeau, Tabitha Smith, Elsa Bloodstone, and The Captain,[18] and the team soon discovers that H.A.T.E. are funded by the Beyond Corporation©, leading them to go rogue and carry out their mission on their own prerogative.[volume & issue needed]
Aaron Stack
Calling humans "fleshy ones" and expressing a degree of pride in his "roboty parts" — which he uses to kill Fin Fang Foom[19] — Aaron has developed a fondness for alcohol, stating "My robot brain needs beer" on regular occasions. He is not especially popular with his teammates because of his self-important attitude, and, as is learned in a flashback that after being brought to space by the Celestials at the conclusion of his previous series, he was dumped back on Earth because the space-gods considered him to be a "complete and utter ☠☠☠☠."[20] ("☠☠☠☠" representing an unspecified, but extremely offensive, profanity throughout the Nextwave series) He appears to have a rather serious attraction to Elsa Bloodstone and stares at her chest constantly, much to her chagrin.
It is revealed that, when still an agent of H.A.T.E, Aaron would often sneak into Dirk Anger's room to steal beer until he found out what Anger made it out of ("I thought Lizard Squeezings was a brewery name.").[21] He later uses his knowledge of Dirk's quarters to steal Anger's mother's dress and hold it hostage in exchange for the safe escape of Nextwave.[volume & issue needed]
Later appearances in the Marvel Comics Presents mini-series (vol.2) suggest that X-51's memories of his time with the Celestials may be skewed, as he experienced visual hallucinations (?) of a miniature Celestial helping him overcome his psychological issues.[volume & issue needed]
The InitiativeEdit
Main article: Fifty State Initiative
Aaron with his Monica Rambeau LMD. Art by Adriana Melo.
Machine Man appears in a flashback to Iron Man (vol. 1) #168 (March 1983) in Iron Man/Captain America: Casualties of War. In trying to convince Captain America of the rightness of his position, Iron Man tells of the time Machine Man came to visit him. Machine Man was seeking to compare notes with Iron Man, thought to be a robot by Machine Man. Drunk, irate, and under considerable stress from the machinations of Obadiah Stane, Iron Man attacks Machine Man and almost kills two of his own employees. At the last possible second, Machine Man's extendable arm pushes them out of the way. Iron Man uses this incident as the need for accountability in the superhero population.[volume & issue needed]
Aaron and Sleepwalker are recruited to aid Ms. Marvel in finding her teammate Araña as part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. strikeforce known as Operation Lightning Storm.[volume & issue needed] In the promotional cover for this appearance, he is in the costume which he wore during Nextwave.[22] His appearance is entirely in keeping with Nextwave: he wears the same costume and displays the same nonsensical and zany personality developed, in place of his previous logical and friendly self. He reveals that Agent Maria Hill from S.H.I.E.L.D. offered him financial compensation to join the Initiative, enraging Ms. Marvel, who had supported it from the beginning, for free.[volume & issue needed] He spends much of his time in Chile and aboard the Minicarrier 13, Ms. Marvel's headquarters at the time, antagonizing and criticizing every available agent.[volume & issue needed]
In addition to financial compensation, S.H.I.E.L.D. has also provided Aaron with a Life Model Decoy of Monica Rambeau, which is programmed to cry for him.[23] Keeping him in his new role of comic relief, Aaron has been shown using the LMD body as a replacement part for his damaged body, going so far to offer womanly advice to a deeply shocked Araña.[24]
Marvel ZombiesEdit
Main articles: Marvel Zombies 3 and Marvel Zombies 5
See also: Marvel Zombies (series)
Machine Man appears twice in the Marvel Zombies universe, initially in a cameo as part of the Nextwave team who engage in battle against the infected heroes and are killed off panel in Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness, and as the main character in Marvel Zombies 3. As the main character, Machine Man accepts an assignment on behalf of A.R.M.O.R. to accompany Jocasta to retrieve a blood sample from a living human from the Marvel Zombies universe, and the two are transported there by Portal.[25] At first he wants to complete his mission only for the money, until he discovers that the zombies are cloning humans for food, much as humans use his fellow robots only for their own needs. He obtains cell samples from the Kingpin's wife Vanessa, who is still alive and being kept safe by the Kingpin.[26] Machine Man delivers the samples to Jocasta, but the zombies nearly destroy him in retribution, and Portal and Jocasta are forced to leave his ruined body in that dimension.[27] After Machine Man reveals that it was a holographic projection of himself, he fights off some zombies and captures the zombie Lockjaw who he uses to teleport back to his own dimension. Disposing of the remaining zombies within the facility, Machine Man and Jocasta are assigned back to S.H.I.E.L.D.[28]
He retains his personality as displayed in Nextwave and Ms Marvel in this series, however when Jocasta describes him as different from the person she once knew, he gives an explanation. Describing his earlier, friendly personality as being linked to "unresolved Oedipal issues", he claims to have grown tired of saving people over and over again to earn their love, as he loved them. Since that never happened (he claims), he has "modeled myself after the fleshies now. I look out for Number One, just like them".[29] However, at the end of the series, as he wipes out the last remaining zombies, he declares, "No, you know what? My name is Machine Man and I just saved the ☠☠☠☠ing world!" accepting the name he spent much of Nextwave and this series denying.[30]
In Marvel Zombies 5, he teams up with Howard the Duck. They later work with and befriend Jacali Kane, daughter of an alternate-universe Hurricane. The trio travel the multi-verse fighting zombies; their intentions are to gather samples from biologically differing zombies in other to gain a cure.[31] He is dismayed by Jocasta's decision to marry Ultron.[32]
Working with Red HulkEdit
Under orders from Captain Steve Rogers, Machine Man teams up with Red Hulk, who is tracking down a Qatari rebel named Dagan Shah (whom Red Hulk believed to be behind the death of his old friend Will Krugauer).[33] Machine Man and Red Hulk arrive in Sharzhad where they find Dagan Shah in the disguise of Arabian Knight, who lets them through the force field and leads them to his palace. Once inside the palace, Dagan Shah sheds his disguise, reveals his true identity as the Sultan Magus, and imprisons Red Hulk and Machine Man, as it is shown that the real Arabian Knight is imprisoned in a crystal.[34] Red Hulk and Machine Man escape when Sultan Magus travels to Cairo after probing Red Hulk's mind to find out who could have sent Red Hulk to Sharzhad. Machine Man reveals to Red Hulk that Sultan Magus has used Rigellian technology to manipulate hydrogen, which involved providing a supply of water and terraforming a part of the desert for Sharzhad. When Sultan Magus returns, he attacks Red Hulk and Machine Man. Sultan Magus rips Machine Man in half.[35] When Arabian Knight is freed from his imprisonment, Red Hulk and Machine Man continue their fight with Sultan Magus until General Reginald Fortean arrives and ends the fight. Fortean states to Red Hulk and Machine Man that Sharzhad has been recognized as a nation by the Arab League upon Sultan Magus agreeing to stop the weapons trading and states that they are trespassing. Sultan Magus then orders Red Hulk and Machine Man to get out of Sharzhad while he secretly plans to have his revenge on Red Hulk someday.[36]
Following an altercation with Red She-Hulk, Machine Man and Red Hulk track Zero/One to her floating island base Ogygia. As Red Hulk and Machine Man are fighting Zero/One's genetically-engineered sea monsters, Zero/One sends Black Fog to fight Machine Man and Red Hulk.[37] Using a device given to him by Jacob Feinman, Machine Man disables Zero/One's drones and frees Black Fog from Zero/One's control as Black Fog leaves the area, stating that his debt is paid.[38]
Machine Man and Red Hulk arrived in Hawaii to fight a genetically-engineered Hydra that was created by Zero/One.[39]
Marvel NOW! (2016)Edit
As part of the 2016 Marvel NOW!, Machine Man appeared as an employee of Umbral Dynamics.[40] Machine Man later appears as a member of Domino's incarnation of the Mercs for Money.[41]
During the "Iron Man 2020" event, Machine Man appears as a member of the A.I. Army.[42] Machine Man was assigned to blow up the satellite dish on Baintronics only for his feelings towards a reprogrammed Jocasata to get in the way.[43] He followed her to a Baintronics facility and fought through many of the X-series robots that came before him. When he finally catches up to Jocasta, he is taken down by a new X-series robot model named X-52.[44] Despite being at a disadvantage, Machine Man defeated X-52 and beheaded Jocasta while making off with her still-active head. Though he ran into a Baintronics security personnel as he prepares to fight them.[45

redid my warriors au, long post
i’ve made a few posts about this au before but i’ve changed things
series 1
events of into the wild are basically the same,(i.e. firepaw joining clan etc) however sandpaw and dustpaw are the main characters
after ravenpaw’s departure, firepaw, dustpaw, and sandpaw realise tigerclaw is a threat, put aside their differences and eventually the three become best friends™
graystripe is a little bit older than them (about the same age as longtail) and was trained/manipulated by tigerclaw
the three get their warrior names and are happily doing warrior things until about 12 moons later
tigerclaw murders bluestar; he becomes leader of thunderclan and isn’t sure whether to pick darkstripe or graystripe as deputy, he encourages the two toms to fight and prove themselves
graystripe wins, tigerstar disposes of darkstripe
sandstorm + friends talk to whitestorm about their suspicions, he believes them and encourages them to tell the rest of the clan (-tigerstar and his friends)
the clan, after some convincing believe tigerstar is a bad dude and try to think of a plan to get rid of him
they have to be careful as tigerstar has a group of cats that are like bodyguards to him - former rogues that dont take warrior names or participate in clan duties (that turn out to be bloodclan spies)
but wait! there’s more! tigerbutt takes over riverclan after crookedstar’s death, the thunderclan cats wonder if they should tell leopardfur about tigerstar’s evilness - will she believe and side with them?
spoiler: she does and immediately tries to break their alliance, but seeming she wasn’t able to get her nine lives or name she is no more powerful than any other warrior and tigerstar threatens to murder her clanmates so she backs down
fireheart’s personality is a bit different to canon - he’s more easygoing and chilled (think of a mix between canon firestar, graystripe, and brackenfur)
silverstream and graystipe have a one night stand type thing causing her to fall pregnant
silverstream doesnt want anything more to do with him and doesnt want the kits to know he’s the father
some of her clanmates turn on her (even though both clans are all living together its very crowded) so she ends up making friends with the thunderclan cats
specifically sandstorm
they become very good friends
yep...just gals....being pals...
the main character squad (sandstorm, dustpelt, fireheart, and now silverstream and cinderpelt) realise they need tigerstar to trust them or they might just end up ‘accidentally’ murdered
he hates fireheart because he was a kittypet, thinks dustpelt is too short tempered...so then there’s sand™
sandstorm fools tigerstar and graystripe into thinking she’s on their side, and reports back their plans to the other cats
tigerstar exiles goldenflower because she doesn’t want to be his mate anymore and refuses his advances - tawnypaw goes with her and they flee to shadowclan where goldenflower later dies of carrionplace disease
graystripe is killed in a battle against shadowclan and windclan, and sandstorm is named deputy as tigerstar thinks he can trust her (surprise! sandstorm was surprised..)
silverstream survives her kitting
ferncloud is closer in age to dustpelt and they arent related
fast forward another 6 moons, the stress of having to suck up to tigerstar yet prove she is still loyal to the other cats is getting to sandstorm
some of the riverclan cats are accusing her of really being on tigerstar’s side
knock knock get the door its bloodclan
one night, tigerstar tries to use bloodclan to take over shadow and windclan
scourge murders him - sandstorm reveals the truth about tigerstar to everyone
riverclan finally go back to their territory and leopardstar gets her nine lives that night
sandstorm is unsure if she’s fit to be leader - she’s struggling as she feels she hasnt been a warrior long enough and her deputyship was a result of deceiving tigerstar
silverstream makes the difficult decision decides to stay in thunderclan as her ‘friendship’ with sandstorm would make it hard for her to stay loyal to riverclan, her kits, featherpaw and stormpaw go to riverclan and are raised there
the night after tigerstar’s death, sandstorm gets her nine lives from starclan (goldenflower - protection, brindleface - love, crookedstar - determination, snowkit - hope, thistleclaw - fierceness spottedleaf - wise judgement, bluestar - faith, lionheart - courage, redtail - loyalty)
whitestorm is appointed deputy
the four clans join together to fight bloodclan, they win, but not without a cost - whitestorm dies, sandstar loses a life
sandstar struggles to choose between fireheart and dustpelt for deputy, the two toms are her closest friends and best warriors
she eventually chooses dustpelt - fireheart doesn’t mind and continues to support them
a moon after the battle, sandstar tells silverstream she loves her
silverstream loves her back
gays
sandstar and fireheart are still super close best friends, but theres nothing romantic between them though he fathers her kits, squirrelkit and leafkit as they both wanted to be parents
squirrelflight and leafpool are raised by sandstar, fireheart, and silverstream and the whole clan loves them
basically sandstar, fireheart, silverstream, dustpelt, and cinderpelt are best friends for life and all of them are gay in one way or another
new prophecy:
as a leader, sandstar is a little less hesitant to cross borders to help other clans like firestar would, but is still willing to provide assistance when others are in need
she is more sure of herself and more confident in her decisions compared to the first series
leafpool is openly bi
feathertail and crowfeather have more of a sibling relationship
fireheart is captured by twolegs
sandstar and dustpelt usually rely on fireheart to help them with leader/deputy duties
so dustpelt begins to assign more duties to brambleclaw, given his experience with the sun-drown-place journey
hawkfrost traps sandstar in the fox trap and encourages brambleclaw to kill her, stating that if she dies dustpelt will surely choose him for deputy, and he can get rid of him too
he doesn’t because he is a good dude
cinderpelt dies and cinderkit is born but cinderkit is herself and not a reincarnation
power of three
fireheart returns! with millie
bumblekit is blind in one eye due to an infected thorn scratch - it doesnt stop him though - he is apprenticed to brightheart
rowanclaw is a trans dude - his and tawnypelt’s kits are fathered by an unknown tom
sandstar and silverstream are close with their grandkits
lionblaze and jayfeather are the kits of brambleclaw and squirrelflight, hollyleaf and breezepelt are leafpool and crowfeather’s
leafpool has her kits (she could hide it due to having strong scented herbs around her and shes fat and fluffy) but is weakened and feels squirrelflight is kitting (remember that bond they had)
crowfeather shows up and takes breezekit to windclan as leafpool cant carry both of them - nightcloud has also kitted an identical kit but its born dead so crowfeather kinda just swaps them (nightcloud agrees to this bc she wanted to be a mother)
leafpool gives hollykit to squirrelflight to raise
sandstar suspects hollyleaf is leafpool’s kit due to her resemblance to crowfeather and the fact that she guessed leafpool’s pregnancy anyway
the fire scene: jayfeather is trapped, hollyleaf helps him out but becomes stuck herself, assfur shows up and says he’ll kill her to cause squirrelflight pain
leading to squirrelflight’s ‘she is not my kit’
lion holly jay assume she lied to get assfur away, lionblaze asks squirrelflight privately if shes his mother, she says yes which is true
as in she said yes she is lionblaze’s mother, says nothing about hollyleaf
assfur intends to reveal the secret at the gathering but shows up dead
sandstar killed him - she found him on the windclan border, he confronted her saying her daughter was a liar and he threatens her, saying he will reveal the secret to everyone - sandstar warns him, saying he shouldnt for the good of the clan
this enrages assfur, who attacks sandstar
sandstar kicks his ass and kills him, though she is overwhelmed with guilt, thinking that she let her emotions get in the way of what was right for the clan
breezepelt discovers his true parentage and reveals the secret, hollyleaf is so shocked that she runs into the tunnels and ‘dies’
crowfeather is rejected by his clanmates and ends up leaving windclan, becoming a rogue
lionblaze and jayfeather are understandably shocked, they still consider hollyleaf their sister anyway
breezepelt’s revelation and disgust at his parentage boosts his status in windclan
omen of the stars
dovebriar is a thing, tigerheart who?
hollyleaf returns. as crowfeather is gone, she doesnt feel much connection to her birth parents. shes still close with lion and jay but not with squirrel and leaf
shes not as mad at them though, she understands why they did what they did but she feels hurt that she was lied to for so long and wishes to get to know breezepelt better
breezepelt doesnt want much to do with her
the series is pretty much the same except for the last hope
silverstream dies along with mousefur and ferncloud
sandstar and fireheart work together to kill tigerstar
sandstar narrowly survives, but wishes she hadnt due to her mate and sister dying - she is on her last life
she stays in her den, depressed, and doesnt bother to check in on her clanmates or issue orders for camp rebuilding
an also-heartbroken dustpelt struggles to keep the clan in order
ivypool ends up yelling at sandstar to get her shit together, saying that she may be very sad but the clan still needs her
sandstar eventually gets up and tries to bring thunderclan back to normal, though cats notice she is much less enthusiastic and more withdrawn
a vision of shadows
in between the last book and the apprentice’s quest, dustpelt gets a bad leg injury and voluntarily steps down from his deputy position
he doesn’t join the elders yet though, he just becomes a normal warrior again as he can still perform basic duties
hollyleaf is named deputy
the birth of alderkit + sparkkit cheers sandstar up a bit, she is very close to both of them
sandstar loses her last life in battle, hollyleaf becomes leader
she names ivypool as her deputy
alderpaw goes on his quest, sandstar guides him towards skyclan in his dreams
alderpaw voluntarily becomes a medcat
leafpool returns to her position

But as they look forward for themselves and for Cybertron, a darkness looms that threatens to further corrupt the unsteady peace of their planet with its curious claim to be the Hand of Primus himself.
It’s up to Optimus, Windblade, Rodimus, and their teams to try and save all Cybertronians from this mysterious threat and, perhaps, change the future for the better if they can.
A/N: Agghhhh this was supposed to come out Friday, but I’m LAZY and I apologize so much for the wait <3
Special thanks to Isame, @secretlystephaniebrown, and squiggol for the feedback! I really appreciate it!
Part III: The Risk of Saving the Guilty Chapter 3.2: Steep Accusations
Velocity, like all Camiens, had been accustomed to worship of the Primes. These distant, mythological figures who were chosen by Primus to guide all mech, to open their spark to the Matrix and provide a guiding light to them all.
She had, especially of her sorority, always been the more secular of the girls, especially if one did not account for Firestar’s self absorption. Velocity had never been precisely a skeptic or non-believer on the levels she had seen over the months being exposed to Ratchet’s tutelage, but the reality of a Prime was always so distant from her day to day life.
One thing she never dreamed of was riding in a shuttle beside the Prime himself.
The very real, very solemn, very intimidating Prime.
His very presence smothered what otherwise would have probably been joyous reunification between her and her group of Amicas.
Alongside her, Nautica seemed utterly starstruck by the Prime’s presence, unusually quiet and teetering on pure nervousness. So unlike her.
Their Cybertronian Amicas and other friends did not share the quiet awe, but they were all visibly uncomfortable, from Brainstorm’s nervous chatter to Nightbeat’s suspicious leering in Optimus Prime’s direction.
Chromedome was flying their shuttle, Rewind by his side as always. But the minibot was downright furious -- his field was vibrating with it. Their reactions to the Prime’s presence on the ship was... curious and mostly an outlier.
The Prime was unreadably stoic from his seat.
“So what are the odds, given he was part of the mutiny, that Perceptor would allow me to design something briefcase shaped but under supervision as always?” Brainstorm asked, stroking his faceplate’s chin. “I’m thinking it’s in the twenty to thirty percent possible.”
“You’re being far too generous,” Nightbeat informed him. “I’d put it at a zero. I think briefcases are out of the question at this point in your scientific career.”
Brainstorm let out a frustrated noise and grabbed the sides of his helm. “But it’s the only thing I have on my processor since I woke up!”
“Hm,” Nightbeat said, bringing his own hand to his chin.
Velocity looked at him curiously. He had been unusually quiet since the upset at Eukaris first broke news across their crew. It was very unlike Nightbeat, and even more than that it was most likely because he was trying to untangle some connections he was making. Though, Velocity couldn’t imagine for the life of her how he had enough information to figure anything out yet.
Nautica was hugging her arms before taking a deep vent and pulling her gaze away from the Prime as best she could. Instead she looked to Velocity.
“Velocity, you got to spend more time in the medical ward while we were on Cybertron,” Nautica stated.
“Yes,” Velocity agreed, somewhat confused by the subject.
“Did you see Windblade and Chromia at all?” she asked hopefully.
“I did,” Velocity said. “Though, not much. They seemed to mostly be looking for answers and checking the tensions in the room. With it being an interplanetary incident and all, I’m pretty sure they were figuring out political stuff more than come in for a visit.”
A somewhat disappointed frown came to Nautica’s face. “I guess Windblade always did dive headfirst into anything she was involved in, didn’t she? That’s a shame. I’ve always had a hard time of holding a high opinion of politicians.”
“Everything’s a little political at the end of the day,” Velocity observed.
“And the patients?” Nautica asked. “I mean, Brainstorm’s doing better -- processor damage or not.”
“Who said anything about damage?” Brainstorm huffed defensively.
“So the others have a good chance thanks to your all’s hands, right?” Nautica pressed.
Velocity rubbed at her shoulder. “That’s difficult to really answer, Nautica. You’re dealing with different injuries, and I didn’t have a direct hand with everyone in the ward. I barely got to more than watch over Rodimus’ CR chamber while we were there and all.”
“But you could read his charts, right?” Nautica asked. “When do they think he’ll wake up?”
Surprised by the curious looks all of her friends were giving her, Velocity realized that they really didn’t grasp the state of their co-captain’s hospitalization.
“Oh, gosh. Everyone, it’s not....” Velocity paused and gathered her thoughts. “Rodimus isn’t going to wake up until they decide to take him off of sedation. His coma is medically induced until they can figure out a way to reconstruct his bareframe over his protoform again. A lot of his natural physiology is melted and will require lots of reconstruction. It’s beyond natural mending abilities.”
"That sounds horrible,” Nautica said, placing a hand over her intake.
“I’d be completely lost on what to do if it was my case alone,” Velocity admitted. “Fortunately First Aid and Ratchet are on it. And they’re... It’s amazing. I’ve never seen some of the procedures they would use while working on Rodimus. I mean, First Aid alone revived Rodimus’ spark on the brink of offlining -- when it was the size of pinprick!” She then hesitated, recalling the enormity of those moments and glancing toward Optimus Prime. O-of course they were using the Prime’s help at the time. I even saw the Matrix itself once.”
Nightbeat and Brainstorm seemed intrigued but not nearly as impressed as Nautica, who looked to the Prime with complete awe.
Velocity wondered if their similar religious upbringing brought the same subtle fears and amazement to her friend as they did to her.
It was difficult sitting in the same ship as a religious figure.
“I really got to put into perspective my position as a new doctor while in that room, though,” Velocity announced, steepling her fingers. “I worked so hard for all those years to make it through medical school and then through the exams. Even at my proudest moment, I had always assumed mediocrity for myself in my field. But the Lost Light -- learning under First Aid and Ratchet. They do laps around the mentors I’ve had for all these years. Their application has taught me more than all the books I’m still in debt paying off during school. I am beyond fortunate. And our captain is beyond fortunate to have them on his team, keeping him in the best care possible.”
Nautica nodded.
Brainstorm and Nightbeat were unusually quiet for themselves.
“Is there anything else you want to know?” Velocity asked. “If not, I’d love to hear about the sights on Cybertron you all got to visit while I was cooped up. The growth of the city is something to behold! Each time we stop there, no matter what crisis has happened in the time between, they’ve managed to do so much and grow in population and structures.”
“There’s a civilian-ran research facility--” Brainstorm began, eyes shining with excitement. “It’s the first time I’ve thought there could actually be something Cybertron could offer if the Lost Light ever docks back--”
“If I may interrupt...”
At that booming voice, Velocity felt ready to leap out of her own frame. She turned and looked in shock to the Prime. He was looking right at them!
Nautica actually squeaked.
The Prime continued staring at them. “I overheard one of you telling Chromedome and Rewind about modifications to the hyperdrive of this shuttle someone made. That was one of you, correct?”
At once, Velocity joined the others in looking toward their resident quantum mechanic.
“I...” Nautica began before coughing into her fist. “That would be me, Prime. Sir. Mister Prime....”
“I am called Optimus by my friends,” he assured her.
“I... Yes, Prime,” she said before burying her face in her hands. “I can’t be seen if I’m hiding. No one can see me. This is worse than being upside down.”
Velocity, uncertain of what else to do, reached forward and gently patted her friend’s shoulders while the socially awkward submarine flailed in the proverbial waters of social engagement.
“Those are impressive enhancements to such a small vessel,” Optimus Prime said gently. “I would like to put you in contact with the scientist of my own crew -- Jetfire. I believe the two of you would get along very well by comparing notes. And having a quantum drive on our own ship could make travel between Earth and Cybertron without a space bridge more possible.”
“Oh...” Nautica said, dropping her hands slightly. “Oh! I mean. Oh! Yes. Yes, it would be an honor to help the Prime and his crew. I’m honored. I’m--”
“We would also cover your expenses in doing so,” the Prime continued. “I am not in a habit of not rewarding others for their work, even if they are religious.”
“That is even better,” Nautica responded without thinking. Then she smacked herself in the head. “Oh my god, what’s wrong with me -- what I mean to say is that it would be, I would be, you don’t have to...”
“Vent, Nautica,” Velocity whispered.
Doing as instructed, Nautica vented pure steam. “Thank you, Optimus Prime. I am very grateful.”
“Better,” Velocity whispered with an encouraging smile.
“I will be the one thanking you, I am certain,” he replied, looking back toward the bow of the ship. “Both for the assistance and for helping change the subject of conversation.”
The ship grew uncomfortably quiet after the Prime’s pronouncement. Nautica in particular looked like her fuel tank was expiring before their eyes.
Velocity did her best to swallow down her own feelings of intimidation and stepped toward the Prime. She hesitated at first, but then gently placed a hand on his shoulder, drawing the large mech’s attention toward her.
“We really appreciate everything you did to help our co-captain, Sir,” Velocity said. “The medical procedures were a success thanks to your very spark.”
At first, the Prime seemed almost surprised by her and, for a moment, Velocity was worried that perhaps she overstepped by touching him. But his optics grew soft and he glanced back ahead to the front of the ship. It allowed Velocity to quietly withdraw her hand and hold it as if some of the Primacy had rubbed off on it.
“There has been a lot more that I could have done,” the Prime said lowly.
It was a flat statement, not open for discussion. And, thoroughly intimidated and questioning what had gotten into her processor, Velocity backed off.
She was just close enough to hear lowly as the Prime shook his head and muttered, “Co-captain,” like it was a curse. A regret. Something.
The rest of the trip was stiflingly uneventful.
Cybertronians were a famously durable species.
Drift remembered his own rebirth among the Knights, when he had been saved by Wing. He had been ripped assunder, and yet with the barest medical care available at the Crystal City, he was given a new body, a new life.
Rodimus had the greatest scientific minds Cybertron had to offer working on him.
But he still wasn’t awake.
Hands always dancing over the hilts of his swords, always prepared to protect his captain at the slightest sign of danger, Drift had to wonder why. Why wasn’t Rodimus awake yet.
He knew what Rodimus’ destiny was, he knew that the future of Cybertron, of their crew, needed him more than anything else. That his explicit, confusing visions needed him to survive any trial their journey threw at them.
Including this. Certainly including this.
“Drift.”
Cycling his optics, Drift turned and looked toward Ratchet. He had been so lost in thought he hadn’t even realized that the old grump of a robot had been finished yelling at his fellow doctors.
“We’re done for the day,” Ratchet said, continuing to walk toward him. “Grab some of your stuff and come with me to Blurr’s. Get some decent energon in your system while we’re off the clock. First Aid assures me he has everything handled here for the night.”
Not making any motions to move on the suggestion, Drift rested his hands on the hilts of his swords.
“You deserve a break,” Drift agreed. “You’ve done so much, so tirelessly, Ratchet. I can’t thank you enough. But I do not have a clock. I have a duty, and it does not take breaks for energon.”
Ratchet’s face showed that he was anything but impressed. Drift had to give it to him, he was a mech who wore his emotions with clarity.
“You’ve got nothing but a security pass I wrestled out of that piece of scrap Rattrap’s hand for you,” Ratchet reminded him. “He’s not in danger anymore -- and he’s mostly out of the woods, as they said on Earth.”
Frowning, Drift looked back at the CR chamber. “He’s going to need someone -- someone not with a medical degree -- with him when he wakes up. When he sees... when he sees the damage.”
For once, Ratchet seemed to drop the snark from his reaction. “Well, his coma at this point is medically induced. He’s not waking up until we’re ready for him to,” the medic explained in what, for him, passed for gently. “So I think you can go out for a drink.”
Drift actually turned from Ratchet at that.
He was exhausted...
"I trust First Aid and the other doctors,” Drift said. “Medically. But as far as protection goes, I believe my place is still here--”
“Oh, for the love of...” Ratchet said, throwing his servos up in the air. “I knew you were going to be like this.”
“Like...?” Drift said, tilting his helm.
“Like a dunce with a second rate processor,” Ratchet snapped before waving to the doors of the lab as they slid open and Ironhide and the bodyguard he met before known as Chromia came walking in. “I called backup for you.”
Drift vented, feeling himself cool almost immediately with relief.
It was better. His nerves were shot and the idea of leaving Rodimus’ side at all still unsettled his fuel pump, but it was better. He could manage it -- for a short amount of time.
“Thank you,” Drift said to Ratchet. “For understanding my obligation--”
“Yeah, yeah, you should thank me,” Ratchet said with a wave of hi hand. “Can we get some energon or not?”
Drift frowned some and glanced back toward Ironhide and Chromia before stepping toward them, eyeing them from helm to pede. He ignored Ratchet’s “Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding,” from behind him and concentrated on the bots before him instead.
“You’re going to assure me that any threat to Rodimus will be handled by you personally?” Drift asked them clearly.
“If a threat comes up, between the two of us it ain’t got a chance,” Ironhide said firmly.
Chromia was a little more suspicious. “Has there been any attempts made on him? Or threats--”
“The threat that put him in that CR Chamber to begin with,” Drift responded snappislhly.
"Drift!” Ratchet snapped from over his shoulder. “Move your tailpipe. They’ve got this.”
Drift let out a heavy vent and offered his servo out to Chromia .”Thank you for your time and service.”
“Not a problem,” Chromia assured him, taking his hand and shaking it. “Windblade was happy to get rid of me for the night. As usual.”
Before Drift could turn to tell Ratchet he was ready, the lab door opened yet again.
Somehow, in the building relief Drift had been allowing in his system, he had not even made a move for his swords when he heard the doors. He hadn’t been prepared for the worst possibilities for the first time in months.
He let his guard down, and was taken aback by the arrival of Starscream, that traitorous Rattrap, and the official badgeless Cybertronian guards.
“How convenient, finding everyone in one spot,” Starascream said darkly as he neared the medbay. His optics then concentrated on Rodimus’ CR chamber. He seemed displeased. “Rattrap, your story doesn’t seem to be adding up right now.”
Drift moved for his swords, but the gards raised their guns.
It was a standoff.
“What’s the meaning of this!?” Ratchet demanded. “You want talk on your research, Starscream, go find First Aid or Knock Out. But don’t bring armed goons into a place of healing--”
“It was him, Lord Starscream. There’s no doubts about it!” Rattrap declared by Starscream’s side. “And just look! These guys’re here... but sure don’t see any Windblade, do ya?”
Starscream almost looked delighted to have the point made out for him. He shifted his gaze to Chromia. “Ah, yes, where is our favorite cityspeaker?”
“Recharging,” Chromia spat out. “What’re you doing here, Starscream?”
“To prove once and for all that Rodimus is faking his injuries and is guilty of collusion with our greatest modern threat to Cybertronian society,” Starscream answered as if it was the simplest statement in the world.
“What the pit are you talking about?” Ratchet demanded. He waved toward the CR chamber. “We’ve had him put under for weeks!”
"Then what was he doing downtown in the sewers just an hour ago?” Rattrap asked, as if he really ‘had’ them.
“That’s impossible,” Drift hissed. “I have been here every second since he was put in intensive care. He’s not so much as flinched on his own!”
“And I was with Windblade an hour ago,” Chromia defended.
“You’ll have to forgive me for not taking your words for more than face value,” Starascream said dismissively before waving to his guards. “Open up the CR chamber. I want this cleared up yesterday.”
The guards took one step forward and Drift moved fast, slicing through each of their guns with his sword before the guards could even react. They looked at each other in shock and confusion while Drift held out his sword in an attempt to show the supposed leader of Cybertron just how serious he was.
“You have no right to attack a wounded warrior!” Drift declared angrily.
“I have any right I want,” Starscream said cockily. “But what right I have or don’t have is not of importance here. What’s of importance is that if we have truly caught Rodimus in a lie, then we are a step closer to understanding who attacked the mechs on Eukaris and what insider has been responsible for leaking information to the cltists.”
“What in the frag are you talking about!?” Ratchet cried out.
“I think you understand perfectly what I’m saying,” Starscream announced. “I am formally accusing Rodimus , former Autobot, former captai nof the Lost Light vessel, is responsible for the death and carnage that befell Eukaris and his crew. I am accusing your former captain of assault and murder. Not to mention traitorism. The last charge goes for Windbalde as well.”
Everyone stared at the mad king in shock.
It was not exactly predictable that the captain himself was not there to greet them at the shuttle, but it managed to put Optimus even more on alarm than he already was.
Megatron wanted to make the encounter more challenging, then so be it.
He exited the ship looking all around the dock before finally settling on Ultra Magnus.
“I hope the trip was decent,” Ultra Magnus said immediately.
“You have a good crew if this group is anything to judge by,” Optimus said assuredly, earning some looks from his recent travel companions. “If not... easily lead into conversation.”
“We consider that a hallmark of the Lost Light,” Ultra Magnus said somewhat lightly.
Optimus Prime had heard rumors of Ultra Magnus’ new leaf -- at his attempts to provide levity and humor. It was hard to believe. And in his actual presence, it was difficult to determine if it was that kind of situation or not.
“I need to speak with Megatron,” Optimus continued all the same. “Of course, I’m sure he knew that when he sent you.”
“I do my bet to not make assumptions on my higher commands’ intentions,” Ultra Magnus answered before leading and waving toward the nearest corridor. “But I am here to lead you to his office if you are interested in speaking with him yourself.”
“I am,” Optimus answered, stepping forward and all but marching toward the office Ultra Magnus was directing him to.
Beyond the brief exchange, there was not much conversation between them. It was unusual for Ultra Magnus -- especially to not at least be asking about the status of the crew recovering on Cybertron.
That all but cemented in Optimus’ mind that there was something on the Lost Light that was being kept a secret. And that just made the Prime more determined to learn it for himself.
When he opened the door to the office, Megatron wasn’t even pretending to not be waiting on him. He was merely sitting at his desk -- hands crossed over a very distinct dent in the shape of a fist.
“Megatron,” Optimus said, ignoring as Ultra Magnus entered after him and shut the door.
"Prime,” Megatron said thinly.
“Your ship has not been compliant with the Council of Worlds’ investigations to what occurred on Eukaris,” Optimus said angrily. “It also has yet to leave Eukaris’ airspace.”
Megatron remained stonefaced throughout the accusations. “I was not aware that the colony had any space program to speak of. Our Eukarian crew members did not mention as much--”
“Your mission to find the Knights of Cybertron is being stalled,” Optimus got to the point.
That declaration shook something loose from Megatron as he finally reacted. His look darkened and he unfolded his hands to grip the edges of his desk. “Of course it is stalled. Members of my crew, including my co-captain, have been attacked and hospitalized. We are waiting for the crew to--”
“You are postponing your trial through distractions,” Optimus snapped. “I know who you are, Megatron. I know what you are about. And there is very little you do without reason or planning.”
“Our mission is not moving forward without our co-captain,” Megatron said fiercely. “That is all, Prime.”
“You are the captain,” Optimus said firmly. “I made you such. You can do whatever you want without Rodimus’ input--”
“I could, and I wouldn’t!” Megatron yelled, getting to his feet and slamming his hands against the desk. “You do not understand anything, Optimus. You may think you do, but you don’t.”
“I understand that the less you do to help Starscream, the more reason he has to throw you and every member of your crew into jail, taking this ship, and cutting off financial support to the medical center in the capital that holds your crew,” Optimus bantered. “I understand you might just be selfish enough to risk it.”
“Selfish!?” Megatron laughed, a thunderous disturbing laugh that Optimus had not heard in years. “You don’t know the meaning of the word--”
“Enough,” Ultra Magnus stepped in between them, even going so far as to put a firm hand on Optimus’ chest to keep him and Megatron at arm’s length from each other. “This is not productive. We all share the same concern.”
“Do we?” Optimus asked dryly, reconcentrating on Megatron. “Do you understand what this all is looking like to those on Cybertron? That it seems as though you are making a coup against what Autobots are left on the ship who are not loyal to you? That you’re no longer looking for the Knights but are attacking an underdeveloped colony for invasion?”
"Is that all?” Megatron asked. “Really, Optimus? After the eons I spent determining near perfect ways of assimilating and overthrowing worlds at a time, you think that I am in charge of this series of disastrous events?”
“You and disastrous events are seldom mutually exclusive,” Optimus argued. “And it is not what I think, it is what Cybertron, the Council and--”
“Starscream,” Megatron interrupted, “does not believe I am responsible for anything at the moment because he knows my approach better than anyone. I taught him his ruthlessness, to my eternal dismay. If he sent you here with that impression then you are more of a fool than had ever realized.”
Optimus narrowed his optics. “Then what does Starscream think? Enlighten me,” he demanded.
A look was shared between Ultra Magnus and Megatron that left Optimus feeling highly uncomfortable. The shared understanding between them was not something Optimus ever expected to see, even when he put Megatron in charge of the ship knowing Magnus’ fealty to the chain of command.
They knew something.
“If you have anything--” Optimus began.
“He could get the information to Ratchet even more quickly than Velocity, and we would not be without a medic,” Ultra Magnus argued on the part of a side Optimus was not even aware he was on.
“This has the potential to be the greatest of mistakes either of us has made,” Megatron said darkly.
Suddenly, Optimus felt dwarfed by the momentum of their conversation, lost in the lack of information. “Who does Starscream believe is responsible?” he pressed.
Megatron stared at Optimus once more like he was the true enemy.
“Rodimus,” he answered finally.
“Rodimus?” Optimus repeated. “But how? He’s the most damaged of the survivors -- I helped restart his spark three times--”
The former Decepticon was not listening to him anymore, reaching toward his gauntlet and producing a drive.
“What is that?” Optimus asked suspiciously.
“Your answers,” Megatron said flatly. “The ones you don’t want.”
Still steeped in suspicion, Optimus accepted the drive and looked to Ultra Magnus instead. “What is he talking about?”
“That drive contains the saved audial logs that we were finally able to decode from the Lost Light’s emergency frequency,” Ultra Magnus explained. “They are from Rodimus’ away team during the incident.” The law abiding looked at him gravely. “We need to see these make their way safely to Ratchet and to Rung.”
Optimus tilted his helm. “Rung?”
“Our former ship psychoanalyst,” Megatron answered, still holding out the drive. “He... retired himself recently, but under my order he stayed on Cybertron after traveling with your recent companions.”
Idly, Optimus somewhat remembered an orange mech receiving hugs shortly before their departure.
“Other than them, we have not allowed anyone to listen to the recording,” Ultra Magnus explained further.
“Why?” Optimus demanded immediately.
Neither answered.
“I suppose you do not wish for me to listen to them either,” Optimus surmised.
“Do you trust Rodimus?” Megaton asked.
“Excuse me?” Optimus asked, thrown off guard.
Megatron did not so much as flinch. “Do you trust Rodimus? Do you wish to assist him? Or is he yet another acolyte to sacrifice for the greater good?”
“You of all mechs have no right to say such things against my character, Megatron,” Optimus argued angrily.
“I don’t disagree,” Megatron replied. “I am old, old enough that I question if change is truly possible for any of us. In a sense of irony, our species seems particularly inept at change. But if there is anything that has led me to change it is that I find myself concerned for this ship, this crew. Rodimus is more than simply my crew, he is my co-captain. We have survived and led together through what we previously thought was the ship’s darkest hours. And without him there is zero possibility that I can lead this ship. Ultra Magnus and Perceptor have taken over most of the command duties. I am without power -- power to command, power to help those I consider... my friends.”
Still, Megatron held out the drive.
Optimus took it. “I take care of my friends as well,” he assured them both. “But I will be listening to this recording myself. I want to know what I am protecting them from.”
“Of course you will,” Megatron said with only slight disgust as he glanced toward the opposing wall.
Confused, Optimus looked to Magnus who seemed equally disheartened.
“You will be protecting Rodimus from himself, Sir,” Ultra Magnus revealed.

Is It Ashfur?
SPOILERS FOR THE SILENT THAW PREVIEW AND SQUIRRELFLIGHT’S HOPE BELOW
Also, it’s hella long. Sorry about that
So, is Ashfur possessing Bramblestar? That’s the most common theory, though a lot of us don’t like it. A new character would be refreshing as the villain if a bit confusing as to why they have a grudge against the clans.
[Again, spoilers for Squirrelflight’s Hope]
Near the end of the book, Squirrelflight and Leafpool arrive in Starclan and are greeted by Larksong, who died of poisoning (a mouse ate a plant that made it poisonous to cats) and his son Flickerkit (who was named in Starclan, Flickerkit’s name was the key to getting Sparkpelt to believe that Squirrelflight was in Starclan for a period of time).
After reuniting with loved ones, Firestar takes Leafpool and Squirrelflight to see Tallstar, Bluestar, Crookedstar, Yellowfang, Littlecloud, and Moth Flight to be judged before Starclan. An important thing to note here is that Squirrelflight and Leafpool are the ONLY CATS known to be able to argue their place in Starclan.
All these cats were ones that the two knew at some point in their lives, and I believe that Moth Flight was there because Leafpool specifically broke her code.
The point here though is that cats like Hollyleaf, Ashfur, Appledusk, Ravenwing, Yellowfang, Bluestar, and others didn’t have to prove their case to be allowed in, despite their crimes.
(Their ‘crimes’ listed here)
Hollyleaf- Broke the code, killed a clanmate, abandoned her clan Ashfur- Attempted to kill his leader and four of his clanmates Appledusk- Took a mate outside of his clan, didn’t help kits cross the river, therefore, letting them drown. Ravenwing- The catalyst to Mapleshade’s breakdown, if he kept quiet the kits would be alive, indirectly broke the code. Yellowfang- Took a mate as a medicine cat, didn’t help her son down the right path which led to more suffering. Bluestar- Took a mate outside her clan, almost ignored one of Starclan’s prophecies for her kits, took her kits to Riverclan in the dead of Leaf-bare which lead to Mosskit’s death, ignored Goosefeather’s warnings about Tigerkit, didn’t acknowledge the signs that he was a traitor, eventually declared war on Starclan (Yes, I know that this was because of her depression and paranoia, I’ll get to it soon).
Obviously, I don’t believe that Blue, Holly, Yellow, or (begrudgingly) Raven deserved the Dark Forest, Hollyleaf was protecting her family, Bluestar was dealt a ROUGH life, Yellowfang more than made up for her crimes, and Ravenwing was doing his job.
But Starclan was hard on Squirrel and Leaf, to the point that I holey agreed with Squirrelflight’s sentiments during that whole segment.
But where should Starclan be drawing the line?
Blue, Holly, and Yellowfang ALL held remorse for their actions. Ashfur didn’t, and I doubt Appledusk did either. Ashfur knowingly tried to get Firestar killed, we don’t really know if him sending Birchpaw to warn Brambleclaw was an act of cowardice for what he did, or if it was part of the plan to get Brambleclaw to the scene so it could be pinned on him.
Ashfur tried to kill the three, one who was his former apprentice, another a loyal warrior, and a blind MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE. He knew what he was doing, he had a motive and a clear mind. He let them live because he believed that by revealing this secret, he could uproot Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw’s ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP, therefore causing more damage
(Tbh, I like to think that if the three hadn’t found out about Leafpool’s side and Ashfur went forward with it, Squirrelflight would have admitted to adopting them as kits, but because they needed a mother, which she wanted to be. She then would have told Brambleclaw that she was afraid she may never be able to have kits so she adopted without telling him. THEY WERE STILL THE THREE’S PARENTS DAMMIT)
Appledusk was an asshole, moving on.
I’d like to compare Ashfur and Mapleshade for a moment, their situations seem rather similar.
Both- Fell in love, only for it to end badly
Ashfur was replaced by Brambleclaw (Same clan relationships) Mapleshade was replaced by Reedshine (Different clans)
Both- Felt cheated by the ones they loved Mapleshade- Actually had kits with this mate Ashfur-  Didn’t have any kits
Mapleshade- Wanted to have a life with Appledusk after being banished with her kits Ashfur-  Attempted to make Brambleclaw look bad to win Squirrelflight back
Both- Wanted revenge when they were wronged by their clanmate(s)
Mapleshade followed through Ashfur was not able to (Whether out of cowardice or being thwarted, I am unsure)
Really, the only difference between them was that Mapleshade was able to get her revenge when Ashfur couldn’t.
BUT
Mental Illnesses are canon in warriors
Bluestar- Depression, anxiety, paranoia, dementia Graypool- Dementia Ravenpaw- General anxiety Goosefeather- Delusions Sol- Sociopath (as confirmed by Vicky on her facebook page) Hollyleaf- OCD (Personal opinion, she was obsessed with the warrior code to the point that she actually scared Jaypaw at one point)
And those are just the ones that I know of.
Mapleshade also suffered from delusions after the traumatic death of her kits, she believed that she was actually seeing and hearing her kits telling her to get revenge so that they could be at peace in starclan. And considering that warriors DO believe in ghosts and the afterlife, this is an entirely plausible assumption.
Now, in Starclan we know that cats are judged before they actually wake up in Starclan or the Dark Forest, which means that if we can assume that these cats have human-level intelligence, they also have some sort of trial system. Which also means that they have set-precedents.
Mapleshade going to the Dark Forest should have set the precedent that any cat who breaks the code and takes a mate outside of his or her clan (and kills other cats) should go to the Dark Forest as well.
Bluestar went to Starclan, despite taking Oakheart as a mate and indirectly killing her own kit by taking her into unsafe conditions during Leafbare.
Silverstream went to Starclan, despite taking Graystripe as her mate and died in the process. Her death doesn’t necessarily absolve her of her ‘crime’, but she went to Starclan anyway.
It probably looks like I’m grasping at straws here, but that’s the point I’m trying to make. Starclan drew the line too soon, and as such became more understanding when warriors sought mates outside of their clans.
Mapleshade was Starclan’s first mistake, though she did kill three cats (A medicine cat, a clanmate, and her former mate), she was not sound of mind when she did so. She believed she was acting on the whims of her dead kits so that they could rest in peace.
She may not have deserved Starclan, but she didn’t deserve the Dark Forest either. I remember seeing an AU where Mapleshade recovered her sanity after she died and was told that the only way she could join Starclan was to help a living cat find their way. She tries to do this in the AU but Appledusk undermines her, and she eventually considers embracing the Dark Forest’s values.
The only thing I would change about that AU is that I would make Mapleshade a ghost, stuck on the living plane until she completed her duty (and maybe she’s even granted access to the living plane whenever she wants so that she can keep helping her clanmates).
Ashfur was Starclan’s second mistake. He knew exactly what he was doing when he helped Hawkfrost lay the trap for Firestar, blocking the three from crossing the burning branch was a CHOICE, even fighting Lionpaw/blaze like an enemy warrior with the intent to HARM was a choice. Being blinded by rage is not the same as having delusions.
Maybe Starclan allowed him to join their ranks was because they were afraid that he’d be another Mapleshade, that he’d help recruit for the Dark Forest. But Ashfur’s sentence would have been justified, more so than Mapleshade (in my opinion).
We know that Jayfeather disapproves of Ashfur in Starclan, but what about Hollyleaf? Well apparently, she doesn’t care.
Squirrelfight’s reaction to seeing Ashfur was immediate hostility, though Ashfur didn’t speak to her, merely dipped his head and looked at Hollyleaf. Hollyleaf simply blinks at him, and Squirrelflight nods curtly.
When Squirrelflight comments on Ashfur being in Starclan rather than the Dark Forest, Hollyleaf says “I guess, but he’s apologized. I think he’s changed.”
Direct quote from page 339 of Squirrelflight’s Hope
Squirrelflight nodded curtly at Ashfur. She wasn’t sure she could be as forgiving as Hollyleaf. After all, Ashfur had threatened to destroy the happiness she’d found with Bramblestar and almost succeeded.
Another thing that’s interesting about Starclan is that things seem to matter less, the problems a cat had with others in the living world are trivial when they’re dead, Hollyleaf states when asked again about if living with Ashfur is strange “Not really, after a while, things that happened in the forest seems less important.”
So that’s how Hollyleaf feels, at peace with everything. Even Sandstorm says that there’s less to fight over, but is that how everyone feels in Starclan?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just to be clear, I am neither for nor against Ashfur Being Good. I hated how his character seemed to flip around just for the sake of romance drama between Squirrel and Bramble. I wish he had a better character arc, I wish that certain things from previous books had actually affected him continued into future books rather than being forgotten.
That being said, everything I have pulled up on him has been based on what he HAS done and what the Erin’s turned him into.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, my theory here is that Ashfur is kind of at peace in Starclan. He doesn’t react badly to seeing Squirrelflight and Leafpool because he’s dead, they’re probably dying, and the Dark Forest battle isn’t something he wants to repeat.
But then Squirrelflight was able to return to the lake as a ghost by submerging herself in Starclan’s Moonpool.
How do we know that Ashfur wasn’t watching her? What if this gave him the idea to return to the lake? He could have initially gone just to see his clanmates, but seeing Bramblestar and Squirrelflight reconcile may have returned his anger, enough to make him want revenge.
Another thing to add here is what do we know about ghosts? Needletail and the others weren’t able to move on to starclan without help, they were trapped in the living plane as ghosts. We don’t know if Starclan cats CAN return to the living plane at will, or if the Dark Forest battle was the exception.
The timeline that we have puts Tigerheartstar’s kits as still apprentices, who we know were made warriors prior to Bristlepaw and her siblings, and it’s not yet Leafbare in Squirrelflight’s Hope. This gives us a window of time that Ashfur may have used to return to the lake as a ghost.
Ashfur has the motive and the means, his spirit likes on so there’s no confusing explanation for a supposedly double dead cat possessing Bramblestar.
And most importantly? Squirrelflight’s Hope tells us that even though many cats were forgiven for breaking the code, part of Starclan doesn’t accept that. They ARE angry that the code is being disregarded, Littlecloud even says, “What’s the point in having rules if cats can break them whenever they like?”
Squirrelflight notices how Moth Flight seems to be determined to keep Leafpool out of Starclan.
I can’t think of anything else to add, so here’s the summary of this theory
Ashfur has the means and the motives, Starclan is angered by all of the code breakers, and Ashfur has is known for taking advantage of situations for his own gain.
It could still be an ancient Starclan cat, fed up with the codebreakers, maybe even Moth Flight herself.
(Lost Stars, Bramblestar says to Squirrelflight, “You would make excuses for them, you’ve always had a soft spot for weak cats.” This could be Ashfur, or Moth Flight who was her judge in Starclan.)
Anywho, that’s all I’ve got. Lemme know what you guys think!
