also didn't care about kwak jihan until I saw him clothed.. I swear now it's more of how ptj draws men too shredded in his curreny style to my liking that I'm like :( when I first saw him...

kae i was planning for a short answer but the ask box hits different so here i am typing an essay i am sorry you can scroll down to the last paragraph for the jihan-related answer IT'S REALLY FINE I JUST BE TALKING

see i'm quite conflicted because in the old art style, they're mostly drawn as kpop boys, and big daniel was just that hot body counterpart who's more of a model who's treated better because he's handsome (aka the point of lookism) than a fighter (how did we even get here?!)

but the manhwa became a fighting/martial arts manhwa so suddenly an influx of muscles 😭 big daniel's body doesn't change even if he eats a lot in that body, but illogically it can grow massive pectorals and biceps?! i feel like the entire lookism manhwa is just ptj's anatomy study sketchbook atp 💀

i feel like that's why as a reader too, the introduction of samuel & jake2.0 hits different (like finally some bara). for a long time we just had agile fighters like johan and eli and while nothing's wrong with that, the muscly guys were sort of something fresh for the readers.

i enjoy the nuances and differences in the design tho, the way some fighters are muscly and some w more athletic body types like johan, first gen dilfs built like bears, etc. (my only gripe is dg's art changing a lot, even his body type) feel like musclemen made more sense to ptj since they were on the countryside, and they were yapping about 'hard work' too much as in... physical work

jihan was just... uninteresting for me in the very beginning because he got that sleaze/playboy/teasing archetype and that's already being played by samuel. (sry im samuel lover, nobody shoot me nor even try to disagree. they jus have same vibes).

also the archetype, in my expert opinion (lol), is more effective clothed. (obvious biased, self-serving opinion bc character design is one of my fav aspects of lookism) (omg, maybe that is why this post got long)

really excited how jihan's gonna differ from samuel (or even ryuhei if ptj decides to make him a lil goofy/unserious)
