Agrimony (Agrimonia striata)
“Plant Part Used: Dried leaves, flowers, stem and oil.
The plant parts should be collected when in flower and before the seed capsules are formed.
Stems thicker than 5 mm should not be collected and the lower parts of the plant should be left alone so it regrows.” (https://www.herbal-supplement-resource.com/agrimony-herb.html)
“Treats Menstrual Issues: One of the most well-known uses of agrimony is as a coagulant that can reduce bleeding in the body and help heal wounds. While menstruation isn’t a “wound”, per se, agrimony can be administered orally to reduce heavy menstrual bleeding and reduce inflammation to make those difficult periods a bit more tolerable. Aids in Digestion: As an anti-inflammatory agent, agrimony has often bee used to eliminate digestive and gastrointestinal issues, particularly diarrhea and other irritable bowel syndrome symptoms. By reducing irritation and inflammation in the membranes and tissues of the gut, it can significantly soothe the stomach. Controls Diabetes: Agrimony has long been studied for its potential anti-diabetic properties, which would be a huge step forward in solving one of the great medical mysteries of our generation. Apparently, the active components of agrimony moderate the glucose and insulin uptake processes in the body better than many other natural diabetic treatments. Improves Respiratory Health: In a similar way as reducing inflammation in the gut, agrimony is also widely used to improve respiratory conditions that may involve inflammation, such as sore throats, chronic coughing, bronchitis, and other sinus issues. For colds, coughs, and flu, it can be an effective way to speed up the recovery and healing process.Bladder Control: When we are very old and very young, bladder control is a major issue. The astringent quality of agrimony makes bladder control easier, eliminating those embarrassing bed-wetting moments and accidents. Since it is non-toxic and has shown no signs of having negative effects on health, children have been using it for generations with no side effects or issues.Skin Health: When you are suffering from blemishes, pimples, rashes, acne, psoriasis, eczema, or any other skin condition, you can topically apply agrimony to the affected area and it can help to alleviate the issue. It can also be taken orally for the same effect. It works on irritation as well as blood eruptions that happen beneath the skin, like blotching and easy bruising due to its astringent properties.Detoxifies the Body: Agrimony’s active ingredients, such thiamin, quercitrin, and catechins, have been directly linked to liver and gallbladder health. By optimizing the function of the liver and gallbladder, the body can more easily eliminate toxins that have built up, thereby preventing more serious health issues and promoting overall metabolic efficiency. Hair and Nail Strength: Silicic acid is also found in agrimony, and this unique compound is known to significantly boost the strength, appearance, and overall health of the nails and hair, preventing easy breakage or a dull appearance. It may not seem like the most important “health benefit”, but every little bit helps! Anti-cancer Effects: Although research on the anti-cancerous effects of agrimony is still under consideration in various research studies, the potential of certain catechins and antioxidant compounds found in this perennial genus could contribute to treatments for cancer. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, the dangerous byproducts of cellular respiration that can cause chronic diseases like cancer by causing healthy cells to mutate. The high count of antioxidants in it bodes well for this research.
“In moderate amounts, agrimony is not known as a toxic or allergenic substance for people of all ages. However, due to its astringent properties that help treat so many conditions, this can also exacerbate constipation, so use with caution. Always consult a doctor before adding new herbal remedies to your daily or weekly health regimen.” (https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/herbs-and-spices/agrimony.html)

Are acne & diet are related?
Hello everyone,
Acne is an chronic inflammatory disease & which causes pore to get clogged with sebum, dead cells & acne causing bacteria. Today will discuss about Acne & diet and how they are interlinked.
Many study has been conducted , in some studies it is said Diet & Acne are interrelated. Because it is seen if weight is reduced or if some amount of weight is lost, then you can see visible changes in your Acne (less in number).
Dairy product:
Dairy product & Acne can be related due to hormones present in milk. Hormone such as
(a) Insulin-like growth factor hormone(IGF-1):
This hormone will help in body build in necessary tissue, but increased amount of IGF-1 will result in increase in sebum production & basically sebum is main culprit to cause Acne & another cause for acne breakout, IGF-1 stimulate the body to produce skin cells, but due to overproduction of skin cells inside the pore will make pore clogged & hence resulting in Acne.
(b) Androgens:
Milk has male hormone known as Androgen precursors. And this causes to increase in skin cell production & sebum production same like IGF-1 hormone. And increase in skin cell production & sebum production may develop acne.
(c) Iodine found in Milk:
It is believed Iodine is found in milk due to excess sterilization of teats of cow with iodine solution, before taking out milk. And this may again trigger Acne vulgaris.
Glycemic Index & Glycemic load:
Glycemic index is the numerical ranking, which compares different foods & it’s duration of increase in blood glucose level(when you eat food how much time it takes blood sugar to rise in your body).
Glycemic load indicate how much blood sugar rises when you eat a particular food.
Eating lots of high glycemic foods i.e. junk food, will cause an increase in insulin level. And it can cause lots of changes in hormones such as, increase in increase in insulin growth factor(IGF-1), which increases cell growth & sebum production & excess cell growth & sebum can clog pore, resulting in acne breakouts.
It can also lower the amount of insulin like growth factor binding-protein 3 (IGFBP-3) in the blood. Lower the amount of IGFBP-3 will automatically cause in increase in IGF-1 & increase in IGF-1 will cause acne breakout.
Increase in insulin level will also increase androgen level i.e male hormone & this increased hormone increases sebum production & causes acne breakouts.
Low calorie Intake:
Low calorie intake can decrease acne, white avoiding calories you lose weight & your BMI also gets reduced.
High calorie will cause in Androgen hormone. It is found that high calorie causes increase in BMI & obesity & there are many studies in which BMI & Obesity are interlinked with acne eruption.
Chocolate
Chocolate may trigger acne. Because chocolate increases Insulin level.
In this video I have explained does chocolate causes acne in detail
undefined
youtube
Zinc
Zinc helps in reducing acne because it has anti-bacterial & anti-inflammatory properties.
Zinc helps in maintaining skin’s integrity, helps in reducing inflammation, also promotes wound healing & acne bacteria are killed or suppressed & it also reduces the excess sebum production.
Iodine
High levels of iodine can cause acne vulgaris, but not acne comedone. If someone consumes very high amount of Iodine, then it may cause acneiform eruptions. This is not same in every case, but it can be seen in some people.
Antioxidant-
Acne is caused due to an inflammatory response as well, Antioxidants has anti-inflammatory response such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E & Selenium, so it can help to reduce acne. Antioxidant orally might not help much, but topical antioxidant will definitely help to reduce inflammatory response of Acne.
Many studies has been conducted to see relationship between Acne & Diet, some studies shows they are interlinked but some studies not. If you feel any food is triggering your Acne, immediately try to avoid consuming that particular food.
For more detail about Acne and diet relation kindly go through this video.

Cellulite Body Oil: Final Destination for Your Skin Cellulite
Cellulite is a very common skin condition, fortunately, harmless that appears as a lumpy, dimpled flesh on the hips, thighs, buttocks and abdomen. The most common term used to indicate cellulite is orange-peel skin, hail damage, cottage-cheese skin and the mattress phenomenon. It can affect both men and women, but the condition is most prevalent in women due to the different distributions of muscle, fat, and connective tissue. It may not harmful to the health but the appearance on the skin looks quite unpleasant. There are various treatments available to deal with cellulite such as medical procedures and treatments, therapeutic massage, body massage oils and creams. Medication, exercise and a healthy diet can also be helpful in reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Why Cellulite is More Common in Women?
It is more often in women than men as the structure of muscles, fat cells and connectivity tissues in women are different than men. Fat layers in women are thicker while the skin and connectivity tissues are thinner, whereas in men skin and connectivity tissues are thicker and the fat layers are thinner.
What are the causes?
There are various factors involved that can cause the appearance of Cellulite.
1)    Estrogen Levels and the impact on blood vessel
When estrogen (the primary female sex hormones) gets reduced, it releases the receptors in blood vessels and thighs; this process decreases the reachability of oxygen and other nutrients and allows fat cells to become larger. It ended up with a bumpy fat called cellulite.

2)    Pregnancy
During pregnancy, the process of hormones production, especially estrogen slows down and increases body fat. The skin of some parts (where most fats are stored) can be looked like orange peel during this period, although it may get restored after the baby is born.
3)    Other reasons
Cellulite can be caused by various other reasons including hormonal unbalancing, inactive lifestyle, unhealthy food choices, and genetics.
What Does Ayurveda Say About Cellulite?
According to Ayurveda cellulite appears due to excessive, undigested toxic waste. It's a heavy, sticky substance that interfuses with the fat cells. It is associated with the lymph drainage problem.
