We’ve got our first Willapa Valley household, the Tanners.

Maura is not what you’d expect from a mother. She never really wanted to be a parent, but life had other plans for her. She met her husband, Roy, in middle school. They were high school sweethearts that got married one month after they graduated. She’s not very close with her daughter, Brandi, a creative, head in the clouds type, which brings a lot of tension to their relationship. Maura spends most of her time at work or at home, doing more work.

Roy on the other hand, is a very fun-loving and easy going type. He’s learned to not take life too seriously. Not even a year into his marriage, Roy suffered a traumatic brain injury from a car crash, which causes him to lose most of his hearing. It took him many years to fully recover from the accident, and it put a lot of strain on his relationship with Maura. Roy often spends his time tinkering or gambling with his friends.

And this is Brandi! She was a bit of an unexpected child. Both Roy and Maura had planned not to have any kids, and were quite content with that plan. So, it was quite later in life that Brandi came along. Throughout her childhood, Brandi became very close to her father. He taught her how to sign and the two of them created a special bond because of it. Brandi loves to spend time with animals and be in nature.
