It is native to the Western Palaearctic region stretching from Southern Fennoscandia to North Africa and the Middle East. Typically, this bee species can be found dwelling in sandy habitats, particularly coastal dunes.
A distinguishing characteristic of these bees is their utilization of leaf and petal cuttings in the construction of their nests!
