God I love season 5. In addition to all the Jon/Martin moments, all the angst, we also get some fascinating statements. Not having to keep to any semblance of reality makes them get weird in such a fun way. And hearing Martin's panic as they ran from the fighting really sets the tone for this season right off the bat, in a very intense way.

It actually sets a very interesting tone because later we learn that despite the intensity and feeling of immediate danger in that situation, they were as safe as they could possibly (physically) be, despite the chaos. So both of them, and us the listeners, get a taste of the mock-urgency that amounts to no actual time constrained stakes, which is what season 5 is all about

@shriekthemighty convinced me to watch stranger things and i ended up unexpectedly loving it so much that we binged nearly the entire fucking thing in a matter of just a few days lmao

it honestly has one of the best ensemble casts i've ever experienced and i love so many of the characters so much but i ended up imprinting on will byers like a mama duck and he's my fave forever now

I loved your post about Jaskier taking Ciri to get her first tattoo illegally at 17, but as someone who got their first tattoo, legally, at 17, I present to you an equally hilarious situation. Getting a tattoo is legal if you are a teen... as long as you have parental permission. Imo most tattoo artists are too afraid of one parent consenting and the other suing, so very few will actually tattoo underage people, even if they have parental consent, but it does happen. The fic potential is there!

Hi, sorry to bother you, but I know you're a big disability advocate, so I was wondering if you or any of your followers know about good braces for hands/fingers? I just recently found out that I probably have arthritis, and there's a post that went around ages ago with a link to braces for the fingers that looked like it could really help me, so I'm trying to track it down, or find something similar. Thank you either way!

DMing is really impressive! I'm still sorta new to dnd and I can't even imagine the skill and knowledge it must take to dm.

I mean, I do love setting it up and getting to flex my creativity for players. I mostly do Dungeon World because it involves a lot of not doing math and being more flexible and improv based rather than having to lay out an entire campaign. More base the next session on the previous session chaos. :3

Even though, with TMA being a horror podcast, I knew the anatomy students were bad news, when I first listened to this episode, all I could think was how sweet and polite they were. I really wanted them to be genuinely well meaning aliens or something.

They just want to learn about the human anatomy :)

I could honestly listen to a whole prequel podcast about the adventures of teenage Gerry. An angry teenager trying to win an evil parent's love by helping them gain power, only to realize he's on the wrong side and go help the good guys instead? Now who does that remind me of...

It's no wonder Gerry became one of my favorites.

There certainly are quite a few similarities xD

When Martin was first mentioned, I was IMMEDIATELY on the enemies to lovers train for him and Jon. So much so that it didn't even occur to me that Jon might be an unreliable narrator when it came to what Martin was actually like. So when I got to MAG22 for the first time, I was delighted to discover that Martin was a huge sweetheart, and not at all the lazy, incompetent fool that Jon made him out to be. He pretty quickly became my favorite character, second only to Gerry, in the end. And Jon switching gears so quickly, making Martin's safety his first priority, was so sweet.

You love to see it

I love how reluctant Jon was, from the very first words, to start reading Jane's statement. And I think this is the first statement that has a real, physical effect on him. Plus the first hint of Knowing, when he says he Knows her infestation isn't just a normal parasite! Obviously it makes sense, considering Jane and the Hive are the first big bads of the series, but it's still fun to see. And getting Jane's perspective gives the Hive this alluring, almost romantic aspect, when it was previously just kinda gross.

What an episode

Binary is one of my all time favourite statements. It' gives me such a sense of nostalgia for the early internet days of creepypasta and the like.

It does have that nostalgic feel yeah!

I wanted to say that I really appreciated your response to another ask about how to deal with friends who had fallen to TERF ideology. A few years ago I had a friend I'd known since I was a teen fall in with some TERF'S, and when I asked her what was going on, she immediately got on the defensive, saying, "I can be friends with terfs and trans people." It hurt a lot to have to end that friendship, and I appreciate someone recognising just how much that kind of thing can affect someone.

It really sucks. It really, really does. Losing a friendship because someone gets pulled into (or back into) a toxic community can be really painful. Every so often I really miss a friend who threw me under a bus and then ran over me with it repeatedly in order to fit back in with a super toxic community, and then I remember that wasn’t the first time he did it, and wasn’t the first time he treated @dadhoc like an extension of me, rather than their own person, when he was mad at me. It still hurts, and it’s healthy to acknowledge that, you know?

But sometimes friendships are just over. 

I just found out that the guy who created Gritty is from my hometown! We even went to the same high school, though he's much older than I am, so like, not at the same time. But that was pretty neat to discover.
