Do you know who designs/makes Shoma's costumes? I have yet to see one I don't love on him
In early stages of his career costumes were designed by his mother.
I am not entirely sure about all designers of his costumes but for some I know for sure. So here is an incomplete list of costumes and their designer and some have pictures. Shoma has too many costumes to fit them into one Tumblr post - picture limit is 10.
Green Turandot (2015-2016) was designed by Chacott as well as his Ladies in Lavender (2016-2017) costume.
Blue and yellow Turandot (2017-2018), also his Winter 1.0 and 2.0 (2017-2018) and his Loco costume (2016-2017) were designed by Satomi Ito (I actually think she did most of his costumes from 2015 to 2018, but maybe even before)
Mathieu Caron designed for Shoma from 2018 - 2022 - it includes both Great Spirit costumes, both DOMO costumes (2019-2021), Moonlight Sonata (2018-2019), purple Stairway to Heaven (2018-2019), both Oboe and Bolero costumes (2021-2022)
His costume to Air this season (2022-2023) is designed by Shizuko Orihara

lae’s unofficial list of favourite figure skating costumes and why pt 2
Why anon, I sure do! This season has been particularly excellent for costumes actually : D part one is here.
Beautiful Storm - Rika Kihira
Designer: Chacott Osaka
I love this costume - the shades of indigo, the ombre down the skirt hemline, how the beading evokes lightning while still being quite beautiful in its own right. The only thing I don’t know if I’m sold on is the baby blue gloves - I still kind of wish it had been a slightly darker shade with more sparkle detail? - but I accept it visually balances out the skirt line. This styling - from costume to ponytail - was so perfect for Rika - young but declarative.
Moonlight Sonata - Shoma Uno
Designer: Mathieu Caron
I think the most mature and sophisticated costume Shoma’s worn. I adore everything about it - the colour (!!! so gorgeous), the flattering drape, the golden sparkle detail that elevates the outfit. Minimalist excellence while still being a costume.
Somewhere in Time - Eunsoo Lim
Designer: Unknown
This costume immediately made me think of Sky above Clouds IV by Georgia O’Keefe - I adore the off-the-shoulder illusion, the back and the unusual sleeves. It’s often hard to make white costumes stand out but this was a highlight for me.
Song for a Little Sparrow - Satoko Miyahara
Designer: Unknown
In the arms of the angels..... am I ever going to get over how we had this gorgeous piece for satoko - from the silky material, the unusual slate blue, to the DRAPING AT THE BAAACK - and then she replaced it with...an off white dress......... i love you satton but you break my heart
From My First Moment - Kaori Sakamoto
Designer: Unknown (maybe Shizuko Orihara?); photo by Maria Kateshova
It’s a little strange at the bust if you zoom in but I just love this as a dress - the subtle ombre effect, the skirt construction, the distinctive shoulders and the vibrancy of the colours.
Origin - Yuzuru Hanyu
Designer: Satomi Ito
Y’all know I’m gone for this costume, especially the purple beading highlights that really just elevates the sophistication of the design. I still don’t understand why the illusion mesh around the neckline is greyish and so obvious and that’s the only part that bothers me.
Alexandra Stepanova
Designer: Unknown
I fully acknowledge the skirt is...questionable but I just really love this dress and how unusual it is (and the skirt photographs beautifully in motion). The unusual grey colour, the sort of ‘mother of pearl’ highlights near the neckline and the fact Sasha’s the one wearing it somehow...makes it work.
Gabriella Papadakis
Designer: Unknown
Can’t believe she only wore this teal number once - the styling (earringssss!! hair!!!!!!), the colour and the cut of the skirt and sleeve was everything. It did look a little bit like she’d just put on an evening dress but I think the colour was so bold that it worked.
Carmen - Mikael Kolyada
Designer: Unknown
Everything is perfect, full stop. Impeccable fit, top length is cut to elongate his legs, a bolt of colour, the bold black applique to tie the costume strongly to the bottom half and I’m strangely tickled by the perfect three buttons of Misha’s white shirt underneath. Works perfectly with his poise.
