Today's Ikebana - Flowers from the garden

All around our valley, flowers are bursting into bloom, and the hills are filled with colour. In particular the first of the azeleas (tsutsuji) have come into bloom. I love this three-leafed variety or mitsuba tsutsuji, which brings the most glorious, intense violet colour to our mountains and valleys.

Last Flush Of My Hydrangeas.

For two and a half months my large blue mophead and lace-cap hydrangeas have been bringing glorious color and flowers to our garden. The past few weeks of constant high temperatures have been a real challenge for these wonderful plants which has seen the last of their blooms for this year.

Last Week’s Ikebana - Irises and Orchids

In our garden and all around our valley the wild irises are in bloom along with a few bearded varieties, creating these magical clusters of purple and green along the side of the tanbo and roads. I have paired them with some purple orchids from Joyful Honda and some of our momji leaves.
