When I talk about monster ivy it’s in reference to the concept of the sublime. Like I’m imagining that scene in annihilation where they come across that guy’s skeleton, or what’s left of it, and he’s covered in flowers and moss and fungi of all colors and it’s horrifying and beautiful at the same time. Art made from the grotesque. Cosmic horror shit. Unintelligible to the eye and inexplicable to the human mind. Decomposition, fungi living and thriving because of death, nature reclaiming her human body like an ancient statue, like a corpse uncovered in the deep woods, now made into a home for the wildlife that live off it. She’s beautiful, she’s terrifying, she’s awesome in the biblical sense of the word. Dust back to dust, dirt, decay, and glorious life again. A never ending cycle.

And I’m also referring to like. A creepy little bog creature who scrambles around on all fours and eats dirt.
