Ain’t Too Proud- a musical review by Lauren Avila

Get Ready cause here they come! The Temptations have made a mesmerizing return to the stage in the national tour of “Ain’t Too Proud- The Life and Times of the Temptations.” With smooth moves, classy costumes, and voices to bring the house down this show is the one to see when it comes to your area. I was grinning from ear to ear and dancing in my seat the whole time. The show immediately opens with one of The Temptations’ well known songs and it takes off like a Rollin’ Stone after that. This production follows a very similar pattern to another Des McAnuff jukebox musical, Jersey Boys. Obviously, if something works well it would be foolish not to use that magic over and over. The sets are minimal but with modern upgrades in theater design, screens and a creative use of floor movement really get the job done. This wouldn’t be a show about the famous five member group without those beautiful matching costumes. The only thing better than a snazzy dresser is one that can move! I will admit that I found myself blushing a few times watching these fellas. The dancing is brilliantly choreographed by Tony Award-winning choreographer, Sergio Trujillo (very nice and talented man). I’ll tell you though, it was the showmanship that really got me: sliding across the stage, playing with the mic stand, throwing the microphone at least 6ft in the air, etc…. A girl can’t help but swoon! To achieve that Temptations sound is rough [insert dad joke about David Ruffin here] but these gentlemen sang from their souls! It was some of the very best singing I’ve heard live. The performance I saw starred Marcus Paul James as Otis, James T. Lane as Paul, Harrell Holmes Jr. as Melvin, Jalen Harris as Eddie, and Elijah Ahmad Lewis as David. I was also lucky enough to catch the highly talented Treston J. Henderson understudying as Al. With hit after hit, this show flies by faster than you can say “temp is for temporary.” You will laugh, you will cry, you will sing along, and you’ll have an unforgettable night at the theater. "La Radio es como la imaginación: no tiene límites, solo se necesita sintonizar la frecuencia correcta"

El viejo Profesor Javaloyes “nació” (aunque en realidad vive desde antes del comienzo de los tiempos) de casualidad para la Radio que es su medio natural. De la mano y preclara visión de Antonio Adelfo Delgado Núñez, mi compañero de siempre, director y guionista del programa “Tiempo Abierto”. Además fue clave en ese parto José Antonio Pardellas Casas, hombre fundamental en la Radio de Canarias como director de Radio Nacional en el archipiélago y Consejero Delgado de Radio Isla Tenerife posteriormente. Un radiofonista nato con el don particular para detectar el talento solo con escuchar a alguien tras el micrófono por primera vez y brevemente.

Rápidamente se dieron cuenta del enorme potencial y la ponderación que llevaba a cuestas y no me dejaron escapar. Me pusieron chalé con piscina y sauna, coche con chófer, tarjeta de débito Platino con saldo ilimitado, catorce pagas anuales, vacaciones pagadas, bonus, rappels y todo tipo de extras. Tontos no son evidentemente y en una jugada maestra me colocaron (se quitaron de encima) a modo de guardaespaldas, secretario personal, valido y comisario político al codirector, guionista y productor de sonido Alberto Delgado Núñez o lo que es lo mismo; el caos hecho carne y habitando entre nosotros.

En esos años coincidimos con, y conocimos a, muchos compañeros de programas. Jovencitos imberbes, al fin niñas las incipientes hembras y grandes veteranos. En la foto algunos que dejaron este mundo como César Fernández Trujillo, en mi ponderado criterio el mayor y mejor comunicador, todoterreno, polivalente y polifacético que ha dado Canarias nunca y al que nadie igualó antes ni lo ha hecho después. Y Rafaél Zurita, hijo de uno de los grandes periodistas tinerfeños, escritor, aficionado a las tertulias de todo tipo, apasionado en todo lo que hacía y un hombre en esencia bueno.

También están el mencionado Pardellas y justo a su espalda Antonio Adelfo Delgado Núñez . Enrique Cabrera excelente voz de los informativos, el sonriente, honorable y honesto Moisés Díaz Estébanez y Villavicencio. Pedro Anatael Meneses Roqué, vocacional polemista y hasta la pasada legislatura senador por el PSOE. Su némesis ideológica, el divertido Paco Pallero, coronel de infantería retirado y licenciado en Ciencias de la Información. Y justo debajo de él y en quién apoya sus brazos, el permanentemente caótico Alberto Delgado Núñez justo a mi lado, marcando siempre de cerca al viejo Profesor Javaloyes.

Pero también recuerdo a otros que por diferentes circunstancias no estaban presentes en esta foto. Nardi Sáez, Francisco Almagro, Machanga Chanchy Núñez, Suso Tejera, Gonzalo Castañeda, Teddy Fernández, Irma Cervino, Juan Nuñez, Eva Rodríguez, Verónica Villa, Carlos del Toro, Alberto Balbín, Sergio Montesino Fotógrafo de Historias o María Jesús León Ledesma entre otros muchos a los que tampoco olvido

Toda esta memoria para decir que, al igual que los viejos elefantes cuando presienten el pálpito de que su última hora llega se dirigen en solitario a morir junto a los restos de antiguos camaradas que les precedieron en la manada, el viejo Profesor Javaloyes, que nació en la Radio de la que lleva apartado voluntariamente casi tres lustros, sabe que sus postreros momentos en este mundo se acercan y que su último suspiro será casi inevitablemente… en la Radio.

Piden parlamentistas mayores efectiva protección a sus derechos y justicia social

CHILPANCINGO * Octubre 4, 2023. ) Congreso de Guerrero Durante el desarrollo del Parlamento de las Personas Adultas Mayores realizado este

miércoles en el Congreso del Estado, las y los participantes demandaron la efectiva aplicación de las leyes en materia de protección de los derechos y acceso a la justicia social de los adultos mayores, que les garantice una mejor calidad de vida. Ante diputadas y diputados de la LXIII Legislatura presentes en el evento, las y los parlamentaristas plantearon también la necesidad de trabajar en la construcción de una cultura social con nula discriminación y violencia hacia este grupo social. De la misma manera, exigieron a las autoridades de los tres órdenes de gobierno la implementación de políticas públicas que garanticen un envejecimiento digno, responsable e incluyente, con servicios de salud y trabajo dignos, que contemple la habilitación de

estancias donde se impartan talleres, capacitación, deportes y actividades culturales y de recreación. Este inédito ejercicio desarrollado en el Salón de Plenos “Primer Congreso de Anáhuac” del Congreso del Estado logró aglutinar a una veintena de hombres y mujeres de las diferentes regiones de la entidad, quienes abiertamente expusieron sus inquietudes y propuestas para que la LXIII Legislatura las retome e incorpore en una agenda legislativa en favor del sector. En específico, destacó la petición a las y los legisladores locales de reformar el artículo 119 fracción décima de la Constitución Política del Estado para que se incluya el reconocimiento

pleno de los adultos mayores a partir de 60 años, y que los diputados federales planteen la misma reforma en el Congreso de la Unión. Asimismo, que en el Presupuesto de Egresos 2024 se etiqueten recursos para la construcción de hospitales con especialistas en cardiología, gerontología, fisioterapia, traumatismo y tricología, dotados de todos los medios para atender y trasladar a los adultos mayores. Pidieron también al Congreso local que legisle en materia de infraestructura, para que los espacios públicos y calles garanticen la movilidad de este sector vulnerable, y que se plasme en las leyes locales la entrega de sillas de ruedas, andaderas, bastones y demás aparatos que coadyuven a la movilidad y condiciones de vida de las personas adultas. De manera remarcada pidieron a diputadas y diputados intervenir ante el Gobierno del Estado y el ISSSPEG para que se solucionen los problemas que enfrentan los 7 mil jubilados y se les proporcione el seguro de jubilación por 120 días de salario al momento del retiro; que el seguro de vida no sea descontado del salario; seguridad social, y que las pensiones, indemnizaciones y prestaciones correspondientes sean pagadas oportunamente. Respecto a la participación y representación política, pidieron su incorporación en la toma de decisiones y en el proceso de creación de leyes, políticas públicas y programas, y que sus propuestas sean incorporadas en los planes de desarrollo anual y sexenal de los gobiernos en turno, para que sean apegados a la realidad y favorezca verdaderamente al desarrollo del sector. Resurge Dorados y deja en el terreno a Rojos

Este viernes se llevará a cabo la inauguración en el segundo duelo de la serie Chihuahua, Chih.-  Leo Rosales pegó batazo de hit al jardín derecho en el cierre de la onceava entrada y los Dorados de Chihuahua lograron milagroso triunfo de 11-10 para dejar tendidos en el campo a los Rojos de Jiménez, al abrir noche la temporada de la LEB-Mexbet 2023. Un juego de toma y daca se vivió en el estadio Chihuahua, donde la afición local fue testigo de cómo su equipo se levantó de la lona para iniciar con el pie derecho camino rumbo a la corona 16. Después de que Rojos anotó tres carreras al abrir la onceava entrada para romper un empate de 10-10. Los Dorados no bajaron los brazos y orquestaron la rebelión triunfal, con dos outs en la pizarra. El emergente Manuel González pegó infield hit, Javier Hernández lo mandó a home con doble, la pIzarra se colocó 10-8, Rafa González recibió pasaporte, Sergio Nájera asestó de imparable para llenar la casa, enseguida Iván Morales conectó rola al short que le hizo un extraño a Gerardo García, así se empató el marcador y todo terminó con el batazo de Leo Rosales a la banda contraria. “Lo mejor de fue que el equipo jamás dejó de pelear, porque es importante iniciar ganando en casa”, dijo Marcelo Juárez el manejado de los Dorados. El Tour Ley Seca de Impostores empieza en enero.

Hace pocas fechas Impostores presentaron su nuevo disco Ley Seca. Un disco que ya va siendo hora que salga a rodarse por la carretera, como todos los buenos discos. El inicio del Tour Ley Seca 2023 llegará el próximo sábado 21 de enero en la sala La Cochera Cabaret de Málaga en horario de vermú (12:00). Una sala y una ciudad que respiran música por los cuatro costados. Las entradas para este concierto se pueden adquirir en el siguiente enlace. La banda ha estado preparando con mucho mimo y cuidado todo lo referente a su puesta en escena. Se han ido rodando en alguna de las salas más importantes de Madrid antes de dar el salto a nuevas localizaciones. ¨Ley Seca¨es un disco de rock en mayúsculas, donde Impostores repasan a lo largo de las canciones que lo componen todas las influencias y vivencias que les han marcado durante estos últimos años. Un disco más visceral y maduro en cuanto a composición y arreglos donde este Septeto madrileño nos demuestra que se puede hacer rock desde muchas perspectivas diferentes.

La grabación de este nuevo disco se hizo durante los locos tiempos de la pandemia. Por lo que ha dado tiempo a que repose bien y que este listo para degustarse tanto en directo como en plataformas digitales. La grabación de Ley Seca se hizo en los Estudios La Caverna junto a Javier Salas y que desde el pasado viernes se puede disfrutar. Impostores es una banda de rock madrileña compuesta por siete miembros: Gustavo Guzmán “Güs” (cantante), Juanfran Gómez (Guitarrista), Mateo “Mate” Cañizares (guitarrista), Javier “Javi” Díaz (bajista), Jose Miguel “Txofas” (batería), David Nieto (teclista) y Sergio Trujillo(violinista).
