Bioware, probably: After Inquisition your Inquisitor has to lead the new assault as an advisor and then probably die if you don't make a specific set of choices.
Me: After Trespasser, Senvel moved back nearer his clan and adopted three little girls, two of which were young orphan mages that'd been smuggled from circles during the mage uprising. He lives happily caring for them, occasionally taking them to visit their aunts and uncles from his clan. And nO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE
