I enjoy great storytelling and especially when the writers respect the characters. It isn't reasonable to believe that I would trust any writer to destroy a character and a couple after seven episodes, but I hope the writers do something different with these two. I love Simone and Lucas, and the chemistry between Alexis and Nico is adorable to watch, and who doesn't love a slow burn done, right?
We will meet Simone's ex in future episodes, but I don't want to watch a love triangle if the writers see this. It's effortless to do a love triangle, and 90% of the time, the love triangle harms the character's growth and turns into ugly camps or teams.
I hope the writers provide the audience with a steadfast positive relationship that brings Simone and Lucas closer and stronger as a couple. I'm not saying that the couple should not have challenges, but providing an arc that shows the couple coming together and supporting each other helps the character grow silo and together.
So many potential stories from the past episodes have foreshadowed what the writers can use for the audience to continue to root for the new MerDer pairing. So what would I like to see?
Lucas family. Lucas is the black sheep, and Simone is the one to watch with the interns; let's add a family dinner with his mom and a glimpse of Lucas's insecurities at their home. This storyline can help Simone help Lucas find his voice with his family and start to believe in himself. Bonus points if his mom fawns over Simone due to her medical skills.
Mika is the third roommate and will witness all the sexual tension between the two. I would love for her to be their number-one shipper, but I don't want her to get lost. I want to see a separate friendship between a relationship with Mika/Lucas and Mika/Simone that doesn't involve the couple. It's vital because I don't want Mika to choose sides when Lucas and Simone break up or fight; she lives in the house and works with them.
Simone's Grandmother's sickness. The writers have foreshadowed that her Grandmother has become much worse in her condition. Ep. 1908 says that Simone and Lucas are surprised by an unlikely visitor, and I believe it's Simone's Grandmother. Ep. 1909 says that Simone is met with a life-changing decision upon the return of someone from her past. This storyline can help Lucas and Simone's relationship as Lucas will give Simone the strength to heal her family relationship as she will do for him.
