For da Vinci Oil on canvas 60 x 48 inches; 152 x 122 cm I was thinking about the da Vinci quote: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Who knows if he really said this! I like to be super mindful when I’m over complicating things and how to get back to a pure state in the work. You have to have faith when you paint over a passage you love that you are getting to a better place in the painting. Admittedly I am by nature complicated in the way I approach my work but I also need to temper that with simplicity. It’s always a balancing act. Reading #CommonSense and this whole paragraph struck me. If you haven't got skin in the game, you have no say and if your passive attempts to adhere to the status quo persist you will never be the victor. Revolutions are reliant on progress - if you consistently align yourself with the oppressor you have yourselves become the oppressor, whether consciously or unconsciously.
