Le militant woke est celui qui croit que le racisme, la misogynie, la transphobie et l’homophobie sont omniprésents en Occident et constituent le fait social majeur de notre époque. Il pense par conséquent que certains se voient dotés dès la naissance d’un privilège qui les accompagnera à toutes les étapes de leur vie, d’autres d’un handicap presque insurmontable.

Cette inégalité des chances n’est pas fonction de facteurs socio-économiques mais des déterminismes*1 de chacun (couleur de peau, sexe, orientation sexuelle…). Ayant pris conscience de cette réalité, le militant woke doit éveiller les autres aux mécaniques d’oppression qui structurent notre société et, surtout, tenter de contrebalancer le racisme mauvais de la société par un racisme vertueux : il assigne chacun à des catégories identitaires devant être soumises à un traitement différencié.

Zajok a nappaliból – Grande Traxelektor 2020 – „SENSE”

Kétezerhúsz összegzéseinek utolsó fejezetéhez, a „Sense” nevet viselő downtempo, ambient, dub, experimental, trip-hop és ki-tudja-még-mi-más műfajú, egyben a legsokszínűbb Traxelektor válogatáshoz értünk, 101 felvételből összeállítva. Hogy mitől soxínűbb? Egyszerű a matek: Egy nagyobb szobában sokkal kreatívabban tudod ugyanazt a bútor mennyiséget elhelyezni. Ühüm. Aha! De mi van akkor, ha a bútor is kevesebb? Üljünk le, kávé, cigi, brit tudósokért kiáltó paradoxonhoz értünk. Elnézést kérek a kedves olvasótól, nem gondolom, hogy ez valami zenei feng-shui, pláne nem ikeabana volna, de tény, az itt hallható művekre leginkább igaz, hogy van bennük bőven csend is, hogy terük is van, nem stadionnyi (anno görög, mára magyar mértékegység), hanem akár galaxisnyi méretben. És persze ne felejtsük el, hogy a tetriszhez is kell beesési tér, még ha a vége egy tömör valami is. Üde színfoltok az év végén hajrázó C.P.I., Hugo Capablanca és Marc Piñol erősen pszichedelikus párosa két felvétellel is, HAAi-től a Head Above The Parakeets, a Teleplasmiste mágikus mélységű An Unexpected Visit-je, Jimi Tenor-tól a Kiss Me After The Acid Rain. Klasszikus galaxisépítőink közül is többen aktívak voltak, a The Grid Floatation-jének a Special Request (Paul Woolford) készített olyan remixet, mely a kilencvenesek klasszik ambientjét idézi, a Higher Intelligence Agency Discatron EP-jével jelentkezett szólásra, a The Future Sound of London folytatta a múlt jövőbe történő expanzív teleportálását, idén az 1994-es Lifeforms ambientdupla nyitótrackjét, a Cascade-et bontották tizenhárom dimenzióba. Robert Henke Monolake-je is két felvétellel igazolja, a rutin nem zárja ki a megújulást és kreativitást. A covidra való legfrappánsabb reakciót Le temps isolé címmel élhettük meg Mouchoir Étanche (Marc Richter) jóvoltából. A külvilág messze van, homályos, a lélek pedig mozdulatlan lebeg. Slágerünk is van, mégpedig egy slágerírótól: az egykori Air egyik felétől Nicolas Godin-tól a  The Border. Nekem slágerszámba ment a brit testvérduó uh-tól (Dominic és Fionnuala Kennedy) a Seasick In Salts is. Rødhåd (Mike Bierbach, aki berlini, német, és nem viking) Mood albumáról két felvétellel került be, Vril-lel közösen (Out Of Place Artefacts) pedig eggyel. Jay Glass Dubs Soma albumán közreműködve osont be a ciprusi görög Maria Spivak az underground színtérre, hogy aztán szerzői albumával (Μετά Το Ρέιβ – a fordító szerint ez „A rave után”-t takar) ott is ragadjon, két felvétellel klubtag. Amúgy meg, talán már említettem év közben is, hogy az oroszok nem hogy a spájzban, de a nappaliban vannak, a Traxelektor minden kategóriájában, eltérő műfajokban fel-feltűnnek ifjú orosz muzsikusok, mint péld��ul Yenisei (Ilya Burtsev Szentpétervárról) vagy a ФАКТУРА kiadó Ural Cult válogatását is említhetném. Hazánk a „Sense” kategóriában is képviselve van, a horhos (Gugyella Zoltán és Győrffy Ákos) duójának személyében, a Mana Manánál megjelent 7 darab címet viselő lemezről egy track-kel, Mike Nylons (Borsos Janó) Eneme trilógiájának első részéről a Maelströmmel (a Farbwechsel gondozásában) és persze tigrics (Bereznyei Róbert) két kedvességgel, kiemelten a Iowe-val.

Beecham House, Episode 5

"Miss Osbourne will now step aside" WAIT JUST A HOT MINUTE NOW. This doesn't seem fair. John came to Delhi and fell in with the European governess and they kind of got thrown together as the only two Europeans in the room do, and I think maybe Margaret likes him a little, and maybe he likes her a little too, but...damn, there is just too much going on here.

Daniel's gift of the sarod to Baadal is...just clunky. Who knew the butler was a musical prodigy?

Wait, Daniel's sleeping with Chanchal is NEWS? John, what the hell? Have you really been phoning it in for the last four episodes? Everyone’ else is in on this. All the same, it does make for a thrilling fight, because they're not really just fighting about this, but they're fighting about double standards, and expectations, and family not being there when you need them to.

AND THEN HE GETS ARRESTED there is too much stuff going on here.

This chase scene between Samuel and Daniel is a missed opportunity for Daniel to show off his ability to blend in. The least he could have done was put on a turban. No one else in this bazaar is taking notice of the only other white person here?

On a related note, why has no one from the Company come looking for Daniel?

HA! We ARE going to get a Beecham/Castillion wrestling match. Oh, darn, maybe not. What the heck is Samuel Parker even trying to do here? I can't even follow this any more.

Castillion has a thing with the Empress? Where the hell did this come from? "I have always been loyal" except for that small matter of HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH THE MAN'S WIFE. I feel like we are missing vast swaths of storytelling here. This does nothing for the plot. Why is it here. Take it away, I could have told you Gregory Fitoussi was extremely attractive without this.

Isn't Miss Osbourne disobeying a royal command by skipping out on this job opportunity? Isn't that treason? Didn't we already have this conversation?

Cast announced for epic new ITV drama Beecham House Beecham House -  co-created, written and directed by one of the UK’s most respected filmmakers, Gurinder Chadha OBE 

Tom Bateman, Lesley Nicol, Gregory Fitoussi, Adil Ray, Marc Warren, Pallavi Sharda, Dakota Blue Richards, Leo Suter and Bessie Carter have been cast in ITV’s epic new drama Beecham House, from award winning production company, Bend It TV. 

Set on the cusp of the 19th century in Delhi before the British ruled in that region, the drama depicts the fortunes of the residents of Beecham House, an imposing mansion surrounded by acres of exotic woods and pristine lawns.   

Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair, Jekyll and Hyde) takes the role of enigmatic, soulful John Beecham, a handsome former soldier who has purchased the magnificent mansion, Beecham House, to begin a new life with his family. 

Wealthy and distinguished, John has witnessed profiteering and exploitation during his time with the controlling East India Company and has resolved to conduct his business as a trader in a more equitable manner. Determined to escape his previous life, John appears haunted by his past, but is inspired to become an honourable member of the region’s trading community. 

In spite of John’s good intentions his life is shrouded in mystery and when he arrives at the house with an ‘olive-skinned‘ child named August and two Indian nursemaids, Chanchal (Shriya Pilgaonkar) and Maya (Trupti Khamkar), it causes speculation and gossip amongst the servants that he may be the boy’s father. One of the Indian nursemaids, the beautiful Chanchal, is overly protective and particularly fond of the child. Could she be John’s lover and the mother of August?

Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey) is John’s robust, interfering mother Henrietta who has travelled from England to India to stay with her son. She is accompanied by a young family friend Violet, played by Bessie Carter (Les Miserables) who she is determined to help form a union with John. 

The pair are accompanied by an old friend of John’s, Samuel Parker, played by Marc Warren (Safe, Hustle) who has also left the East India Company and has returned to India for a fresh start. Samuel helps John to find his brother Daniel who he has not seen for 10 years. John convinces Daniel, Leo Suter, (Victoria) to leave the East India Company and join him at Beecham House. 

Gregory Fitoussi (Mr Selfridge, Spiral) plays General Castillon, a French mercenary working for the Emperor at a time when the French are challenging the East India Company for India. Castillon is suspicious of John and his motives and conspires to stop John being granted a trading licence.  Adil Ray (Citizen Khan, Ackley Bridge) is John’s neighbour Murad Beg who dislikes General Castillon intensely and agrees to help John secure a trading licence.

Murad’s daughter, Roshanara, (Kanika Kapur) has an English governess Margaret Osborne, played by Dakota Blue Richards (Endeavour) whose beauty and intelligence catches John’s attention. However, when beautiful Chandrika (Pallavi Sharda) arrives at Beecham House with her entourage she is shown to luxurious guest quarters and immediately insists on seeing August.  What secrets does Chandrika bring with her to Beecham House?  

Beecham House has been commissioned for ITV by Head of Drama, Polly Hill.

The six part series which starts filming this month (August 2018) in India and at Ealing Studios was co-created by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham, Viceroy’s House, Bhaji On The Beach) and Shahrukh Husain (In Custody).  

It was written by Gurinder Chadha, Paul Mayeda Berges (Viceroy’s House, The Mistress of Spices, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging) Victor Levin (Destination Wedding, Mad Men, Mad About You) and Shahrukh Husain. Caroline Levy (Hooten & the Lady, Inspector George Gently, The Mill) is the Series Producer, with Gurinder Chadha directing episodes one to three and Peter Lydon (Poirot, Secret Diary of A Call Girl) directing episodes four to six. Acclaimed writer and international renowned expert on this period in India, William Dalrymple, and Shahrukh Husain are historical consultants for the series.

En esta cuarta temporada, la serie muestra el declive de Mr Selfridge que ya había dado inicio en la tercera entrega.

La serie cuenta con las actuaciones de Jeremy Piven en el papel de Harry Gordon Selfridge, Frances O’Connor en el rol de Rose Selfridge, Aisling Loftus como Agnes Towler, Grégory Fitoussi en el papel de Henri Leclair, Zoë Tapper como Ellen Love, Amanda Abbington interpretando a Josie Mardle, Tom Goodman-Hill como Roger Grove, Katherine Kelly en el rol de Lady Mae Loxley, Ron Cook como Mr Crabb, Mika Markham dando vida a Louis Selfridge, Trystan Gravelle es Victor Colleano, Samuel West en el papel de Frank Edwards, Oliver Jackson-Cohen como Roderick Temple y Anna Madeley es Miss Irene Ravillious.

La cuarta temporada de “Mr Selfridge” estará disponible para todos los usuarios de Netflix en América Latina a partir del martes el 23 de mayo de 2017. Todos los episodios de las Temporadas 1 a la 3 ya están disponibles en Netflix.
