Rural Tourism: A way of life

Any type of tourism that showcases rural life, art, culture, and heritage in rural areas, thereby benefiting the local community economically and socially and allowing interaction between tourists and locals for a more enriching tourism experience has been broadly termed as Rural Tourism. Agritourism, Farm Tourism (explicitly farm-related, involving staying in farm accommodations and seeking experiences from farm operations), Wilderness and Forest Tourism, and other forms of rural tourism are all included in this category.

 It is a type of ecotourism and tourism's growth potential can be used as a rural development strategy. Rural tourism allows for the creation of a non-agricultural source of income for rural residents. The additional income from rural tourism could even help to revive lost folk art and handicrafts

 The value of rural tourism development expands as the list of advantages of this type of tourism grows longer.

 To state an example, rural tourism provides valuable commercial and employment opportunities for communities that are struggling to provide viable livelihoods for their local populations.

 The concept of rural tourism is unquestionably beneficial for a country like India, where nearly 70% of the population lives in villages.

  This development however must be sustainable and appropriate policies that have a positive impact on these areas from an economic, social, and cultural standpoint must be implemented.
