You know, if you romance Garrek in Roots of Pacha, it's actually rather sweet that he's the one who comes up with the irrigation system and water mill, because one could read it as him trying specifically to think up ways to make his partner's life easier so they don't have to work as hard and have more time to relax.

question for anyone who plays roots of pacha. and if you haven’t played roots of pacha, check it out, it’s delightful!!
anyway, spoilers for Jag’s 2 flower event:
if you’ve gone to festivals, you know that Jag is the one who stays behind to tell you where the festival is happening and that everyone has gone there for the day. i didn’t realize it until i had been to multiple festivals but it’s ALWAYS Jag who stays behind.
does anyone besides me think it’s because Jag woke up alone after his brother had abandoned him. and so he stays behind to tell you where everyone is so your character/no one else gets left behind/feels abandoned like him?
the devs could’ve chosen any NPC to tell you where the festival is, so WHY JAG? this is my proposal, thank you.
also combine this with things he says when you talk to him. where he woke up without a fire and then pacha gave him a fire and sent vuak to find him. and that being the reason he tends to the fire and makes sure the clan always has fire

As annoyed as I still am from certain perspectives that the romanceable characters in Roots of Pacha are still trying to get me to cheat on my in-game partner after they literally witnessed our wedding, I do have to appreciate just how varied and realistic their responses to being rejected are.
Some take it with grace. Some are literally heartbroken. Some are embarrassed.
Jelrod, in typical Jelrod fashion, just declares it "your loss" and seems to think something is wrong with the player for turning down such a prize (but in a nice way. Sort of.)
The most overtly/traditionally romantic attempt I've seen so far is probably Mana, but hers also seems a bit... impersonal, in that way? Less tied to her overarching story arc, I suppose, than a lot of the others. It is still connected, definitely, but a lot more loosely than, say, Frer or Ibon's. And definitely Illoe's and Era's.
And going back a bit to the topic of the actual rejections, I did have to appreciate Jukk's in the sense that when you reject him he just says, a bit sadly, "I figured as much," which makes me forgive him a lot more than the others (especially Illoe, since I am married to Frer and she is literally his best friend) for posing the question to begin with, since it seemed more like he was attempting to help himself get over a crush he knew would never be able to come to fruition.
Also Garrek, mostly because he just seemed confused in general. Like he was testing out to make sure he hadn't misread any social cues. Which is reasonable.
(And, mind you, I am just referring to rejections on the first actual hangout, not the unavoidable cutscens for their character arcs. The only ones I've gotten through all three of are Frer, whom I married, and Era, who I already wrote an entire fic on based on how I felt about that result. Given that--unless she is bugged or something--my experience with her route seems to indicate that the romance subplots still get furthered even if you aren't actually dating them and actually reject them if you continue hanging out, I probably won't accept any more second hangouts--and definitely no third ones--just to protect my own heart.
Even as interesting as they all are so far.)
