For anyone who knows me.... I am not a fan of heights. In fact, those who have been present when I have done coasters, Ferris wheels, and zip lines....have heard some really spicy language. 😵‍💫 So....putting my anxieties and phobias aside...i agreed to do the Banff Gondola to experience the stunning 360 views of the mountains and valleys. 🏔️ The views made it totally worth the sheer terror I felt during the 9-minute ride up the mountain.... Which also brought Nick immense joy. 🏔️ #banffgondola #visitbanff #Roguetrippers (at Banff Gondola) https://www.instagram.com/p/ColXNqYJPE4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We looked into the best way to spot local wildlife while in Banff and one top suggestion was to take the 2+ hour drive around Spray Valley provincial park. 🗻 The very scenic drive (everywhere is a scenic drive) goes through Bow Valley Provincial park Spray Lake PP Peter Lougheed PP 🦌 We saw a small group of elk along the highway, but the lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and dams; and the majestic snow-covered mountains made the drive worthwhile. 🏔️ We also took a couple of small hikes to better appreciate the beauty of nature. . . #rockymountains #Roguetrippers #banffnationalpark (at Spray Lakes, Kananaskis) https://www.instagram.com/p/CokH0XLrbm9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Our first visit to Alberta, and our first stop was the beautiful Lake Louise. The landscape was a completely frozen wonderland. ❄️ Lake Louise was completely frozen over, making it perfect for skating, skiing, and just walking on. The iconic Fairmont Lake Louise had many beautiful and intricate ice carvings including the light up castle on the lake, and a frozen ice bar where you can enjoy a beverage. There were a number of frozen waterfalls coming off the mountains showing the bright blue water Lake Louise is known for. 🗻 While others are planning tropical vacations in the winter, we choose to embrace the magic of winter. ❄️ #LakeLouise #fairmontlakelouise #Wintertravelideas #Roguetrippers (at Lake Louise, Banff, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CogyOZarpN7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Winter is Lit! Take an illuminated walk in the woods. ❄️ We visited the Mountsberg Conservation area for their annual #Winterlit event. The wooded trails of Mountsberg are made more magical with unique and beautiful light displays and photo opportunities. You can take a leisurely stroll through the well lit trails, enjoy hot chocolate & cookies, warm up by one of the many fire pits, pick up a fire branded wood ornament, and enjoy a snack at the food truck. ❄️ The event runs until February 20th at Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campbellville. ❄️ @conservationhalton #Ontariotravel #Roguetrippers (at Mountsberg Conservation Area) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn_KxmLNs9B/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Iceland in January - Day 2 🇮🇸 After the trip to Geysir, we continued around the golden circle and enjoyed many views and vistas along the way. We stopped at Gullfoss falls -/or the golden falls and enjoyed a mini hike to the top to see it from above. A plaque is dedicated to a woman who protested the damming of the river (successfully) and the govt ended up turning the falls into a national monument.. 🇮🇸 A drive through the country and you will see many beautiful Icelandic horses along the way. These majestic and gorgeous creatures are everywhere and love being greeted. 🇮🇸 For road trip snacks we enjoyed delicious and traditional Icelandic lamb meat sandwiches which were so tasty. The fresh local lamb is a must when you are here. 🇮🇸 #inspiredbyiceland #visiticeland #Roguetrippers (at Gullfoss Waterfall) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnYC8cVIkDv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Just because Christmas is over, doesn't mean that the fun has to end just yet.. 🎄 We enjoyed a stroll through the @twinkleafterdark light display at Country Heritage Park in Milton. We squeezed in one last holiday event of the year on their last night. . This is the same location as the @pumpkinsafterdark event held around Halloween. 🎅 There are hundreds of fun & festive light displays throughout the park to enjoy as you walk through. 🎄 #twinkleafterdark #roguetrippers #holidaytraditions (at Country Heritage Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmyEvKnuupr/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Live life in full bloom. 🌻 While driving through the country, we came upon @lauras_farm_stand in Cookstown, Ontario. Laura's is a roadside country market with fresh produce and a vast field of flowers to explore and do "pick your own" flowers. Currently, their fields are ablaze with the colours of wildflowers and brilliant yellow sunflowers. They have created a 1+ km trail through their fields for visitors to explore and take photos/of the sunflowers, and they have set up several photo settings as well. 🌻 With so many terrible stories of tourists trampling farmers' fields for that perfect pic for the 'gram.... This type of setup allows the two to come together in a mutually beneficial and fun way. 🌻 #sunflowerfield #sunflowers #agritourism #Roguetrippers (at Laura's Farm Stand) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chk4mcrp64S/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Big things come in small packages. We absolutely love visiting the giant, oversized, and quirky attractions wherever we roam.  However, we also really appreciate the tiny structures that are typically a bit bigger.  Things like...  Buildings that are typically meant to hold more than a handful of people at one time.  Tiny buildings like these three that you can find in Ontario:  🚂 North America’s Smallest Union Station is located just outside Port Stanley, Ontario. Union station refers to a train station shared by more than one railway company, but in this case, it also refers to a nearby town of Union.  👮 North America’s tiniest jail in Creemore, Ontario. Creemore jail, erected in 1892, measures 4.5 x 6 meters and served as an overnight lock-up for lawbreakers for drunkenness and disturbing the peace. The jailhouse is now a museum located next to the Creemore Log Cabin.  ⛪ Living Water Wayside Chapel in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, is considered the smallest church in Canada (quite possibly the world). With a total of 72 sq feet, the chapel holds about six people, and it has a very low clearance, so many people need to duck to enter.  . . These are just a few of the “tiny structures” you may find on an Ontario Roadtrip.  📍 If you know of other tiny structures we need to visit, leave a comment below, we would love to check them out.  . .  #tinybuildings  #ontariotravel #roguetrippers (at Ontario, Canada) https://www.instagram.com/p/Che-L9Mrq6D/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Waterfalls Chasers. 🏞 Before we headed out on our weekend adventures, we asked you for advice on things to do, and we got a lot of great suggestions. One of the best came from a former Tourism officer for Grey County - get the Grey County waterfall 🗺️ map and explore. 📍 Since our hotel was located right beside one of the Waterfalls, that seemed like the perfect focus for our weekend - Bruce Trail and Waterfalls. 🏞 1) Walters Falls 2) Jones Falls 3 & 4) Ingliss Falls 5 & 6) Indian Falls 7) Weaver Creek in Harrison Park 8 & 9) McGowan Falls in Durham And..... 10) Holstein Dam 😒 📍 We skipped Hogg's Falls & Eugenia Falls because we visited them a while back while hiking the Bruce Trail. . Some falls are easy to access while others require a bit of a hike, and some are better than others. . #VisitGrey #Waterfallchasers #Roguetrippers (at Grey County Tourism) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg2RY_Pp7WK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Introducing..... "Big Bruce" 🐮 We had heard of this roadside attraction for many years, but today was our first meeting. I can't believe it's taken us this long to meet him. I guess I assumed he would be regular cow size, but as you see, Nick.is 6'3". . Bruce is one heck of a Big Boy. And he is about a month younger than Nick. 🐂 Located in Elderslie Township in Bruce County, Big Bruce was installed by the Bruce County Cattleman's Association in 1980. It was placed here in tribute to Harvey Davis for his contributions to the community and agriculture. 🐮 @explorethebruce #Explorethebruce #BruceCounty #Roguetrippers (at Chesley, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cgs7jhqtwNm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A Donnelly kind of day.  . During this weekend's day trip adventure, we decided to visit the town of Lucan, ON and check out some of the sites related to the notorious Donnelly Family.  . Like us, you may have probably heard of the story of the massacre of the Donnelly's. On Feb 4th, 1880, several members of the Donnelly family were murdered by a mob known as the "Biddulph Peace Society".  . We decided to make Lucan our destination and learn a little more about one of Canada's most infamous crime stories.  . Our first stop was to visit the @lucanmuseum. This local museum has artefacts about the family, the story of what happened, and the town's history. On the property, they have a house from the period that is a near identical layout to the Donnelly home.  . We then headed to St Patrick's church, where the family attended church and the adjoining cemetery where you can find their grave.  . Then, it was up Roman Line to the Donnelly Homestead site.  . And of course…. A stop at @blackdonnellysbeer was a must as well - while not in Lucan, it is very close in Mitchell. (Amazing beer, BTW) . #theblackdonnellys #VisitMiddlesex #RediscoverON #OntarioTravel #Roguetrippers (at Lucan, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgZqp1lLZ4U/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We spent our Canada Day hanging out in Norfolk County. 🇨🇦 We started with a visit to Port Dover, for their Canada Day parade. The beach here was probably busier today, than I have ever seen it before. We then checked out a few other nearby communities like Port Rowan, Turkey point, and Long point. We had never been to Long Point Provincial Park before, and we were quite surprised how pretty it is. The water is so bright blue, even on a grey day. 🇨🇦 #Norfolkcounty #Ontariotravel #roguetrippers (at Norfolk County, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfflUO3DMoE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I'm a Judge! 👨‍⚖️ After a 2 year hiatus, Ontario's Best Butter Tart Festival is coming back.... And it will be bigger and better than ever. In 2019, I was one of the judges of the "Traditional tarts". This year, I will be participating in the judging for the Wild-Style tarts. 👨‍⚖️ I'm looking forward to trying some of these wild flavour combinations. 🧡 Ontario's Best Butter Tart Festival takes place Saturday, June 11th in Midland, Ontario. . . . Repost: The judging table is filling up nicely! Greg Bellefontaine is a travel blogger, avid adventurer, and connoisseur of butter tarts. He has taken his passion for the iconic Canadian treat and turned it into a quest to find the best butter tarts in Canada (and beyond). @Rogue_trippers He has travelled across much of Canada and the US, sampling butter tarts ranging from the classics to the wild style flavours. His #buttertartquest travels have taken him to many well-known bakeries, tiny off-the-beaten path bakeries, farm markets, and everything in between. #ButterTartQuest #Roguetrippers Learn more about the contest here: https://buttertartfestival.ca/ContestInfo #OBBTF2022 #ButterTartJudge Food Network Canada Downtown Midland The Heart of Georgian Bay Experience Simcoe County BruceGreySimcoe (at Midland's Buttertart Festival) https://www.instagram.com/p/CecbdwzLzeu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
