What’s the lie your character tells most often? 

I think a lot of Gloria’s lies in her day to day life are around the lines of “I’ll pay you back” or something like that LOL, she’s very irresponsible with money and not above straight up lying meaning her reputation is kinda terrible. She tends to ditch people and avoid responsibility in general. If you make plans with her there’s a solid 50% chance she just won’t show up and you’ll never hear from her again. The other 50% is she shows up and you still never hear from her again

2. How loosely or strictly do they use the word “friend”? 

The people in Rocio’s life are usually only interested in them professionally/politically, and the few that actually view her as a person (prior to the story theres like quite literally 2 of them) tend to be very close, so there’s not a lot of conflict over whether they’re close enough to be called their friend yk. She definitely considers them as such— even though it makes her uncomfortable to be close to people she does appreciate everything they’ve done for her. Like, they would have straight up died if not for Yiming. They put a lot of faith in the people they’re close to, maybe even too much, + though being dependent on others frustrates them they don’t tend to resent people because of that. In terms of actually using the word though. I think she’d hate implying things about her relationship with others because she doesn’t think it’s anyone’s business at all. So she’s more likely to avoid it and talk about them however is directly relevant to the situation. Like instead of “you can trust him, he’s a friend” it would be “you can trust him, he’s harmless” or whatever. Sometimes coming across as insulting because of that lol

I think after everything happens for the most part people would make up and come to a better understanding of each other over time but the exception would be lucia would hate rocio even more. initially she was like vaguely intimidated and upon hearing abt their grandiose philosophy that they take completely seriously she’d definitely think someone like that shouldn’t have as much power as rocio does. and then like the exact thing that she was worried about happens and a bunch of people get killed. rocio decided to pursue their evil plan (their morally ambiguous plan) and didn’t understand the consequences of doing so and so it directly caused a huge crisis and now not only are people dead but the entire country is fucked. yes they were being used as part of someone else’s evil plan but 1) lucia doesn’t know that 2) it was still ultimately their decision. so she thinks rocio should be publicly executed. she doesn’t actually think that. but she does think having 0 consequences whatsoever is incredibly unfair, that keeping what she did a secret from the public is wrong, and she also doesn’t trust them to do the exact same thing again. cirillo has to like beg her not to tell anyone but she definitely will eventually tbh. rocio dies age 24 from being shot in the head by an assassin <that would not happen

I think Rocio’s whole mindset is so intense and tied into like her personal theories as to not only what magic is but why humanity was created in the first place, and she believes in it so intensely, that it stops being a philosophy and starts being a religion which is honestly kind of funny because she literally came up with all of this on her own starting when she was like 11. they are in a religion of one. people they know assume it’s like some kind of advanced magic theory they haven’t heard of personally but if they brought it up to any other wizards they’d also be like what the fuck are you talking about

Rocio has a very monotone voice and usually speaks very softly. Least expressive person on the planet. Most of the time she doesn’t say anything at all, and sometimes when she does people don’t hear her, which she finds incredibly frustrating.

She does have 2 voice claims they’re both cringe unfortunately.

what is holding your OC back to achieve their goals?

This could apply to literally any character this is so difficult. I should upload all of my ocs to pickerwheel.com in order to avoid this situation in the future.

But like I decided to just go with Laura lol. Her actual goal is to be respected right because she’s been ignored overshadowed lied to and et cetera and she has a lot of personal pride so she’s very resentful of this. She hasn’t achieved this goal because her personal idea of what it’s like to be respected involves like being powerful within a governmental system where it’s all like highly competitive and being the most powerful doesn’t get you respect it gets people to hate you and want to stab you in the back. They need you but they’re not happy about it right. And she does like having that kind of power but it’s not what she really wants yk. And above all it’s not worth it if you don’t have self respect, which she’s definitely lost by being pretty scummy and manipulative but mostly by having shitty business practices. She’s been extremely hypocritical for a while. So what would be best for her would be to ig adjust her priorities and stop like trying to uphold her family legacy or whatever and do what she thinks is right instead. And stop looking for approval from shitty people

Thanks for sending these :) it took a while bc I felt like I didn’t have anything that interesting to say but I tried and I did come up with some things so it worked out

4. Do they have any scars or tattoos?

Tattoos no unfortunately that would be cool. But she definitely does have some scars from various sources

right away the obvious source she probably has a couple of magic related ones. in order to acquire most spells, you have to do like an elaborate ritual in order to kind of access the latent energy inside of whatever magic objects you’re sacrificing (after you do this, casting spells is still difficult but it’s much much easier comparatively). It’s not uncommon for these to involve drawing some of your blood, esp if it’s a spell you’re casting on yourself, so I think Rocio probably would have like a couple from this (from failed repeated attempts at the same ritual most likely, cause she hasn’t done that many different ones so probably only one would have involved this)

When she was younger she’d have to spend a lot of time outside because 1) although she always liked like staying inside and reading and etc she’s not going to be able to do that all day the internet hasn’t been invented yet so if you’re bored you have to go outside and experience the world 2) she’d like help out with chores and such especially if her mom was sick so she’d probably like accidentally cut herself with a kitchen knife, get stabbed by sticks or thorns or whatever, minor childhood injuries like that. She lived in a very rural area at the time so she spent a lot of time in nature fucking around lol. In like an emo way not an energetic kid way usually. Emo 8 year old. Not actually emo but like she’d be more inclined to just walk around and like stare at bugs or whatever rather than try to climb trees or catch fish or something like that

As a teenager she was pretty nervous/frequently on edge so she might have some scars from acne/skin picking and things like that

During the story at one point she has to fight a shit ton of demons at once, she is wildly overpowered so it works out like she lives but I feel like they’re going to get at least a few scratches in just through sheer numbers

6. Are they an oldest, middle, youngest or only child? 

They are an only child 😔 

I talked about their family in the most recent ask game I did with them so unfortunately I don’t really have anything else to say that I didn’t already cover there. But at one point in development they had a younger brother so in the interest of talking about something I’m going to say what it would have been like if that was still true

Originally I had it so they left home when he was a baby like 0-1 years old and then came back like 5-6 years later (this would be after the plot took place in like an epilogue thing) so he’d be like a little kid and not know them at all. This is in the universe where Rocio has bad parents now she has parents who are like pretty good but sadly died and were possessed by evil immortal wizards. But yeah in this timeline I think they’d feel bad abt having left him, they would have done so in pursuit of their goal of like transcendence or becoming a god or whatever which is like their #1 motivation yk like no matter how bad they feel abt it they have to do what they have to do. I think they would have tried to block out their memories of their family as much as possible, like they wouldn’t have forgotten about them or anything but they would have been ignoring any feelings towards them, so I feel like if they went back and saw him they’d immediately be hit by a tidal wave of guilt like ohhh shit I actually did that

Both in this and in the actual storyline they try to imagine like their entire childhood didn’t actually happen yk like they want to be as removed from it as possible. Especially because she absolutely could have done something like kidnapped him and gotten away with it a lot of the wizards have done terrible shit either purposefully or accidentally and completely gotten away with it bc the government covered it up. They like protect the wizards and their reputations a lot bc that’s what the country is most known for and they are like their #1 source of national defense + power, like their military is pitiful if the wizards turn on them they are fucked. Esp one of the older and more powerful ones could do a lot of damage. 

I got so off topic. Anyway this is post character development idk what they’d do they definitely wouldn’t want to like leave him alone with shitty parents but at the same time they don’t really know how bad their parents are because they don’t remember very well it’s all like hazy to them they just remember like a vague bad feeling. So they’d probably talk to the kid and ask him what he wants and how he’s doing. Depending on his answer they might like try to see if some of their extended family could take care of him instead 

I think regardless of what happened they’d want to get to know him because of how they feel guilty for leaving him in the first place. Rocio is not the type to play with little kids at all they’d feel incredibly awkward but they would like take them to get ice cream or whatever like they’d try to be nice. 

I don’t want to character build this kid who doesn’t really exist but I do think he’d be like unimpressed by Rocio being a wizard like he’d think it was cool at first as like a party trick but eventually get bored bc he doesn’t really care about status or anything. I don’t think he’d care abt her as family either like no more so than a distant cousin. But I think they could get closer over time. The first person ever that Rocio actually wants to like her lol

This is sad I feel bad this kid doesn’t exist now I want to re retcon him into existence. Maybe I will who knows 

10. What objects do they always carry around with them? 

good question I’ve actually never thought about this because I hate drawing bags but it doesn’t make sense for her to carry everything around in her pockets so I decided to hand wave that completely and never think about it at all. But it is good for character building so I’ll try

Probably money I suppose. She travels a lot so she’d need to pay for like transportation esp in unfamiliar places. I think they’d carry more than they need for like bribery and tipping people. Essentially they have access to as much money as they need to effectively do their job (although they are on kinda thin ice and might get their funds cut off for not being productive for the past 6 months. Their job is like the help the country and/or help with research, they’re allowed to work on their own projects but they have to write detailed reports on things they’re doing and make sure to keep in contact if they’re out of the country or just nowhere to be seen and Rocio hasn’t done either of those things so far. If the events of the story hadn’t happened they’d probably have sent someone to be like hey what’s going on 😐. I want to say it would have been Yiming because I like him and I think he would agree to do this because he personally knows Rocio + people using their magic for the right things is very important to him, but like he’s busy so they probably would send someone else 😔) . So they like tip people exorbitant amounts of money, like if they need them to keep something a secret. Or if they feel bad for not making small talk 

They have a really good memory, so I don’t think they’d usually need to write things down, but they do probably have like a notebook or something for like magic related things. Like ideas for spells theyre working on or like some facts noted down for reference. They also have a better memory for studying than they do for like their schedule and things they have to do so I think they’d have like a planner or something like that to make sure they don’t forget to show up to things. The most difficult part of becoming a wizard wasn’t the studying or the meditation (everything else was psychological torture for the most part) or the competition or the money (they had nepotism on their side) it was doing press and attending 800 bureaucratic meetings

Sexuality Headcanon: lesbian <3 She has a husband allegedly but I’m a minkowski was lying about being married truther. like why would she call his work phone if they were married??? It all adds up

Gender Headcanon: personally I think of her as cis although I strongly respect transfem headcanons as well. transmasc is definitely fair it’s just not what I think of with her character. The only wolf 359 characters I personally think of as trans are Maxwell, Hera (<sort of canon in a sense), and maybe Jacobi. 50/50 on Jacobi.  Who’s to say.

A ship I have with said character: do I even have to say it. Minlace canon and real they are meant to be. There is barely any self deception involved in my perception of their relationship  those women are GAY. It’s in the podcast like not intentionally but they will say incredibly gay things. From time to time. Well anyway I like how their personalities are in some ways different (ie how Lovelace is in many ways paralleled with Eiffel (although obviously they have a lot of differences as well such as Lovelace being incredibly mean)) but they get along very well and work well as a team. I like them both a lot individually as characters as well. They’re both really funny

A BROTP I have with said character: Im willfully ignoring the potentially cringe language used in this post Im just going to think of it as platonic relationship. It probably means friendship specifically idk if that’s how I would describe her and Eiffel though. I know they care abt each other a lot and ok they probably are friends but idk. Comrades maybe. Whatever the point is I really like their relationship especially in the finale, I like how she really wants to keep him safe and her entire crew as well, and how the two of them have been through so much together and they’re really close even though they hated each other initially. It’s nice to see it change so much over time + they have a lot of moments together I really like. Like when he came back from being stuck in a freezer for however long that was Im actually not sure it was a while though 

A NOTP I have with said character: Her and Eiffel is unhinged I don’t think anyone actually thinks this probably. Her x Dominic Koudelka if you respect this woman’s marriage then get out ‼️

A random headcanon: I think she has a buzzcut because since this is an audio medium characters can look like whatever I want. I think she would be a cat person. For some reason I think of her as having lived in California like San Francisco specifically. That might be canon and I just forgot when I heard it but she is from Cali to me. I mean after she was from Poland

General Opinion over said character: I love her so much I’ve said this so many times I’m getting tired of saying that I’ve said this before but unironically she’s like the exact opposite of what I complain abt with women in mainstream sci fi action comedy. She’s a heavily flawed character but also has a lot of strengths as well, like she’s a good leader. Has a lot of development over the course of the series. I like her development and she’s very multifacteted as well. #1 minkowski stan whatever whatever. She is definitely my favorite character in wolf 359 which is saying a lot w/how much I love Eiffel and the overall cast as well

Rocio:

Sexuality canon: lesbian also not much else to say not much to elaborate on. Well I guess it is kind of funny she’s like I will transcend humanity…. To the next level of existence…. wait omg a cute girl 😖😖😖🥰🥰🥰. Not in those words. But that’s the idea 

Gender canon: Largely indifferent to the concept, hasn’t really actively thought abt it but if she did she’d be like wow I literally don’t care at all like the concept has no influence on reality to her. Doesn’t dislike being seen as a woman in particular she’d be fine with that or genderless. The problem is being perceived at all lol. 

A ship I have with said character: I’ve been thinking about her and Gloria recently I mean ofc I was going to say that because that is the relationship I put them in. And it is the only one that remotely makes any sense out of the OCs in this story. But yeah let’s talk abt some of the details with them

being around gloria makes rocio feel way more down to earth because 1) gloria herself is usually focused on the present moment 2) she is genuinely just annoying, she actively gets on rocios nerves enough that they’ll be distracted from being existentially depressed long enough to argue with her. But Rocio actually loves arguing + Gloria likes attention from anyone (it being slightly negative helps because she doesn’t have to worry abt letting anyone down) so they actually have fun together

One thing I like about Rocio is that for all their grandiose ideas and also incredible power they get embarrassed/flustered very easily which Gloria thinks is really funny and kind of cute

they each respect each other’s ability to do whatever they want and not care about the consequences or what other people think (even though this is a bad thing for both of them lol). However Rocio respects Gloria increasingly as she starts to doubt herself whereas Gloria loses a lot of respect for Rocio when she sees how she sometimes treats others + also how she’s not being cool and mysterious she’s also pathetic and annoying at times. It doesn’t make her hate them though it makes her pity them 

I think they actually could work even though they don’t have that much in common it’s abt their personalities and the understanding they have of each other from pretty early on. They both get that the other needs to have space yk + especially after they become a bit more emotionally mature. They should talk to a couples therapist that would actually help a lot. Not marriage material probably (

A BROTP I have with said character: Due to the nature of their personality they have somewhat limited options…. I mean I would probably say Cirillo lol but Im going to talk abt Angel as well

During the story her friendship with Cirillo is solid but there are some flaws to it. They both depend on each other a lot because he doesn’t have a place to live without them and they need him to help with basic tasks (mostly communication based, like he’ll talk on the phone for her or order for her at stores sometimes). But this also creates a lot of tension because he’s really really nice to her and she really isn’t in return both bc she doesn’t want to (she used to just not really like/be comfortable talking face to face but now the problem is the act of communicating at all. It’s not THAT extreme most days but 1) sometimes it is 2) she wants to avoid it overall. Also bc she is afraid of interpersonal relationships, justifying it as not having time for them or them getting on the way of her goals, but really she’s just afraid of someone being close to her.) and because she can’t. But she feels pretty guilty about this no matter how much she wishes she didn’t. Cirillo usually wants to be understanding of this, he honestly doesn’t care that they don’t talk much because he can get that from other sources, he’s mostly just concerned. To be clear this isn’t me trying to talk about him as a perfect saint because 1) he neglects his own needs way too much and lets people treat him however they want out of guilt and a misplaced sense of respecting everyone even if they’re not a good person at all or treat him or others badly 2) he takes personal responsibility for Rocio’s mental and physical health which is already highly stupid because he is literally incapable of fixing the problem, but he’s also too nice to her to actually confront her about unhealthy things she’s doing in the slightest so the problem just gets worse and they both feel terrible. Jesus Christ did I spend this long explaining just the bad parts of their relationship there are good parts too omg.   Rocio really appreciates how he’s willing to be accommodating and understanding when other people aren’t. She tries to help him where she can like looking for jobs for him or something. They can communicate very easily and do know each other pretty well since they actually talked via letters for like 3 years prior to the start of the story. On the very rare occasions where Rocio does feel like spending time with someone they both do enjoy it, like they’d go to the sea and watch the boats or some old man shit like that. But when they can handle it they like listening to him talk (+he likes spending time with literally anyone in any setting, they both appreciate peaceful settings a lot) and they absolutely appreciate all the things he’s done for her in the past, like theyre absolutely aware of how helpful he’s been and they probably would have been screwed in a lot of situations (there’s a lot of bureaucracy wizards have to go through for example lots of talking to people at colleges and government offices and things) without him since they don’t really know anyone else they can go to for help.

Ángel honestly never really knew her that well even though he wanted to, and she used him for personal gain and left him to die ( < there is slight nuance to this part in that at this point rocio really actually did need to make it to the tower in order to prevent a shit ton of people from dying and they might not have if they were still protecting Angel, as well as the fact that he wouldn’t have been the primary target of the demons anyway since they had already used his blood to open the portal so he wasn’t really an important factor anymore.) I’m not sure whether this would ruin their relationship permanently though because I think Rocios actions should have lasting consequences and this would be a really good opportunity to demonstrate that and contrast it with Cirillo forgiving her. But on the other hand I genuinely think it’s more in character for Angel to forgive her, he really wants to understand others in part out of curiosity but also because of loneliness. Tiago’s death was really really hard on him (yes they knew each other for literally a day but Angel had literally never had a friend before in his life) so he does really want companionship wherever he can get it. And he was willing to forgive Victor (even though what he did was probably not as bad even though it was more directly harmful it was WAY less risky and he probably had a better justification) I definitely don’t think he’d be totally fine with Rocio at all. But he would want to understand them better and why they did what they did, and he’d definitely be open to knowing them in the future. He’d like ask them why and what was going on and he’d want to hear everything they were thinking during the time they knew each other. And then after that I think he would forgive her ( < they would definitely cry like 5x during the explanation, they as in both of them), not to say he’s obligated to at all (I actually think it would be better for him not to have contact with her ever again lmao) but that’s what i think he’d do based on his priorities and the kind of person he is. I don’t think they’d actively spend time together usually but they have a lot of mutual friends so they’d be cool whenever they saw each other. Rocio will never stop feeling bad about it as long as they live. But they’re also pretty grateful to him as well.

A NOTP I have with said character: Setting aside the her being a lesbian thing she and Cirillo would not work I bring this up bc one time I saw writing something for them like a year ago and it accidentally sounded very romantic and it’s haunted me ever since. They would be miserable. It would be like all the problems with their friendship but exaggerated times 1000. They have no interests in common he’s a #extrovert she’s a #introvert he would try really hard to solve all her problems and it would make them both very sad when he’d inevitably fail. Just awful. But anyway in terms of people she could actually be with theoretically:

Laura: To be clear he’s 20 even though I’ve said she’s 18 before I changed my mind she is 20 so there’s not really an age gap. This is kind of out of left field I’d have to think abt this. Yeah it would not work 

Lucia: She doesn’t like them lol but even if she did/got to know them better I don’t think it would really work she’s too down to earth and really opposes a lot of what Rocio believes in philosophically, not to mention their personalities would not work together at all theyre both very reserved and need someone who would actively make them feel comfortable (Lucia by being nice to her and listening to what she has to say, Rocio by being willing to argue with them + straight up by annoying them sometimes. And for both of them being willing to carry the conversation) which they could not do for each other AT ALL

So in the story I think literally anything besides her and Gloria would be out of character 😔 but honestly I wouldn’t be that strongly against these either like in the context of fans doing them the first one makes zero sense but whatever but the second I could see working if you slightly reinterpreted the characters or something it could be ok and it would also be really funny. If you changed Joanna or Salem to not be straight that would also be hilarious so I wouldn’t care about that either. I guess I would say her and Cirillo or her and Ángel I would be the most strongly against bc even though that couldn’t happen in universe I can see someone doing it anyway and I would not care for it.

A random canon: The first spell she learned how to do was to create fire. This was her final project at her college and doing this was what got her entered as a candidate to become a wizard like fully. At first she could only create a candle sized flame but she’s practiced it a lot and now can create like a bonfire relatively easily. They will die at around 200 years old outliving all of their friends also. (<wizards live for longer and age more slowly automatically) Kind of sad but it does mean they’ll live to see the 1990s which is funny. I mean they would have with a normal lifespan very likely as well they’d only be 70 or so. Whatever

General Opinion over said character: they’re just okay. No idk I really like how their design looks personally, it’s not very elaborate but I’m happy with it. I’ve had them for so long (<2.5 years not actually that long) and thought abt them so much so I like seeing how much they’ve developed over time. I’m really happy with them :) at least conceptually I think they’re interesting I like the different aspects of their character and relationship with others and I think some aspects of their development are heartwarming to me or whatever. I mean bc I created them. But yeah really love this character a lot. They’re fun and pretty easy to draw too <3

13. what are some motifs you associate with them? did you intentionally bring in those motifs, or did it happen over time?

Ok I have 3

Nature in general: pretty straightforward originally she was associated more with the city but I think she prefers more rural communities/places close to nature now. This isn’t really a motif the other two are actual recurring elements specific to this character and have actual metaphorical meanings

The color red: originally her character’s like main color scheme was white brown black and yellow and it’s now red and black which I like better. But also in my mind like hypothetically if I were to do illustrations or comics or something I would use the color. Probably to represent moments of extremely strong emotion that she has so just like any key moment that is negative for her I think I would have that color in the background 

Snakes: like the animal. They reminded me of her a lot for some reason so now it’s a recurring thing at least in my mind. The idea is 1) snakes in universe are associated with healing bc their venom can be processed into medicines relatively easily and with some species their bites straight up have minor healing properties (curing nausea, reducing pain). which is like her second or whatever. also like despite this many species are still venemous when their venous has not been processed and should be handled with caution, also 2) you get too close to like a cobra or whatever and it will lash out and bite you which is similar to her character or whatever

but yeah all of these were kind of as an accident and showed up over time

25. who is their best friend?

You’re gonna ask this about the kid who died and survived by stealing until he was taken in by a band of killers who kept him around to have him run errands and to torture him and kill people and laugh at his reactions after killing people :,(

It’s Angel I guess. Actually I don’t think I would say that because I don’t think best friends is the type of relationship they have it’s more like siblings with nothing in common but who care abt each other a lot. Especially Angel is always trying to make Victor feel better, it’s not that they never spend time together doing like normal things but theyre not like on thr same wavelength usually if that makes sense. Mostly because Angel is a way more upbeat/energetic person than he is. So although they are very close don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t describe them as best friends.

Since there is no other option I’m going to make Joseph and Victor friendship canonical whatever it’s cheesy but I think it would work theyre ofc the same age but they’re also both emos I think theyd enjoy spending time together + it would help them to feel normal. Also it would be kind of funny Angel driving them places or whatever. I think Joseph would moderately dislike Angel but tolerate him for Victor’s sake.

42. can they dance?

Yes! She enjoys doing it a lot going out to do so she thinks it’s really fun. There’s not much else to talk about with this but I feel bad having this answer be so short so I’m going to answer another question for her as well. Question ummm 66 what is their favorite fruit bc it doesn’t take much effort to answer its any citrus but especially lemon. Ok if it’s going to be that short I’ll do another one question 49 how often do they cut their hair if at all like every six months and even then it’s just a trim she’s trying to grow it out. Very ambitious considering she has somewhat curly hair it’s going to take forever to detangle

31. do they respond well to praise? how about criticism?

Criticism:

If the person who criticizes then is in some way their superior or whatever like this is a practical dispute with regards to college or work or something, they are incredibly argumentative. Not so much anymore but they used to in the past. Actually I take it back they still are it’s just via writing now when in the past it would also be in person sometimes as well. However if they are eventually convinced they will change their mind they’re not stubborn abt things like this just very defensive and willing to argue their point.

ok I’m going to try to do both of these more briefly than the other one like I’m not going to come up with a plot for these cause if I did it would take forever let’s go

Lucia and Rocio is so difficult ok like Lucia is pretty smart but she’s more of a humanities person yk I don’t think she’d be interested in magic for its own sake, also bc she dislikes the idea of anyone having that much power. So I think she would start an insane plan to eliminate the wizard system like a vigilante like somehow making it so humans can’t do magic… idk exactly what she’d do I don’t think she’d get rid of it wholesale because it is often used for good purposes and she wouldn’t ignore that? Since this is a role swap au she has to do something similar to what Rocio does…. But that’s not really like her style idk she wants to have an effect on the world in a positive way but she doesn’t want any kind of ultimate power AT ALL the way Rocio does. Maybe she wants to go to the second world just to kill Gabriel so that he doesn’t have power over it anymore (<he would agree with this decision dw). Maybe the Suns know that she would love to kill them and so decide to work with her and help her, and so they have to go like get enough power to complete whatever it is Lucia wants to do that she thinks would help people the most.

Also she’s still dating Cirillo, I think she would have known him for longer in this so they’d have a more established relationship. He’s in the main plot in this not bc he needs to be there but bc the two of them wanted to spend time together <3 

Rocio with Lucia’s life is like hmmm maybe she was interested in magic but was never able to pursue it so became a fisherman instead (<this is what Lucia does, it is a very common job near the coast in Zeolan) but is dissatisfied with it and wishes she could affect the world more, specifically through magic since I think Rocio would always be at least a little interested in it no matter what. They’d dissociate from reality the same way they do in the main story probably. But it’s not like Lucia did nothing forever so. I think she’s still friends with Cirillo here, like they know each other well they probably met in a similar way to how he and Lucia did. But they become closer inexplicably, maybe bc they have no other friends so they’re always nice to him (<relatively speaking of course). And then they get involved in the Reles plot ummm so they wouldn’t be as nice to Joseph (they wouldn’t be mean to him or anything it’s just their personality) I think it would be more transparent that they have no idea what they’re doing. So he would be even more miserable than he already is. BUT Rocio is bolder they’re more proactive I think they’d be willing to straight up murder Joanna if it came to that. Which would be funny

jacinto and joanna would be so funny bc they are complete opposites. So I guess we aren’t switching any of the other characters around just these 2. I think Joanna would actually be a great private detective tbh, she’s very observant, she’s just as good at poring over documents and following people around as Jacinto, and she’s way more personable and so could get more information out of people that way I guess. The idea of her interacting with Gloria is bizarre to me ok I think Joanna would be a good parent bc that’s like who she is and Gloria would definitely appreciate that and probably be more stable than she is normally. But I think she still would be a little uncomfortable spending time with her, and want to be on her own/independent and also see the rest of the world, so I think she’d do something like that involves traveling (maybe become a sailor I think) and like being on her own. I think she’d be more solitary too as opposed to being super extroverted, like she’d like being on her own. But she would be on good terms with Joanna and visit her often.

Also since Joanna isn’t Relesian in this she’s just straight up a good person LMAO.

Jacinto would just not be a parent in this au because Joseph is adopted and there’s no way they would ever adopt a child. Ok let’s say they did so Joseph is like in the story maybe bc if they didn’t they knew he wouldn’t be in a good situation or something… well whatever so Joanna has a pretty large extended family (she’s the second of five kids + most of them have children of their own so there’s a lot of cousins and such) who she’s pretty close to, so in this Jacinto would have a family who is alive and not dead as well. So parenting wise I think everything would work out ok B). 

Career wise I think Jacinto is not at all the type of person to be patriotic much less get involved with working for the government, but I can see them being a scientist/sci fi biologist the same way Joanna is. Maybe it’s like one of those scenarios where someone is tricked into developing a project they think is normal but is instead used for evil. Well anyway other than that this would work out well for everyone, except me, this feels so weird to me since these characters never interact lol.

What’s the lie your character says most often?

‘Says’ isnt like completely accurate ofc but I think as a whole they do intentionally maintain the illusion theyre. Idk exactly how to explain it. That they are above other people in terms of wisdom/spirituality when in reality they probably have less clue what they’re doing than the average person. Motivation is basically self destruction + they are playing with magic they don’t really understand. Which they try to actively hide from other people and play into the perception people have of wizards as like ethereal + connected to a higher spirituality. Which like is true in a sense but it does not mean they are more enlightened as a rule + especially not in this case 

What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

Studying a lot they know a lot of outdated magic theory ofc, and though much of this is directly relevant, they also know a lot abt ideas that are long since disproven. its like if a regular chemist was also really into 1300s alchemy. I do think she has some vague medical knowledge abt the human body, like it’s not her specialty, but knowing anatomy I think does come up pretty often. Less so abt like diseases and things like that and more so abt wounds and where they’re fatal and etc

What’s something that makes them laugh 

every single time? Be specific!

This one is hard ok because they genuinely do not have much of a sense of humor. If someone, like, does something stupid, it’s more likely to annoy them than anything else. If someone is actively telling jokes, they would also think it’s annoying. I’m trying to think of the conditions that would cause them to even think somethings funny. Maybe if you’re making fun of someone they hate but like your joke has to be hilarious. It has to be the funniest joke you’ve told in your life. “Something specific that makes them laugh every time” this would never happen go home

How many hobbies have they attempted to have over their lifetime? Is there a common theme?

I feel like he’s the type to try a lot of thing he thinks it would be cool to be good at, but then give up quickly once it’s more difficult than he expected. He’s tried and given up on creative hobbies like writing and sketching, but has had slightly more success with ones related to physical exercise. He really wants to be good at fighting, but he hates practicing because it’s essentially he wins against anyone smaller than him and loses to anyone bigger than him, so he feels like there’s no point to it yk? He was pretty antisocial when he was younger, like get mad at people for not taking things as seriously as he does, and not having much patience for younger children. That’s not related to the question 😭 blanket answer he has tried basically everything accessible to him once or twice, but no more

what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?

This will contain information about Rocio’s overly edgy and arbitrarily miserable backstory  cause I can’t really talk abt her family without talking abt that at least briefly so :P

When growing up, Rocio lived with her two parents in a remote location. (I’m not sure what they did for a job yet :P but they lived in a very rural area mostly apart from other people, it was on the edge of the woods and I think near some mountains). Her mother strongly preferred to live alone, as, like Rocio, she was easily overwhelmed by being around other people and greatly calmed by nature. Rocio’s dad (these people don’t have names I’m sorry I should come up with some) liked both nature and being with people, so living out in the woods was peaceful, but he did really miss his family (Rocio’s mom’s was like. Pretty shitty). They would visit occasionally but although he did love his family and being out in nature he would miss people he knew and being in like bustling city or whatever he’d feel lonely pretty often. Additionally to this, Rocio’s mom’s mental and physical health would sometimes fail, she would sometimes have feelings of intense anxiety and paranoia + was sensitive to like minor diseases, so she’d sometimes end up bedridden with Rocio and her dad taking care of her + all the work and chores and et cetera. The parents both wanted to have more children, but she probably like couldn’t have handled it physically, so they never did. Her dad also had a bit of a hard time adjusting to how shy Rocio could be and how she would very rarely talk, but eventually he became like fine with it, ofc he loved her a lot.

All that being said, they did all get along very well despite their difficulties. Very loving family very beautiful. Her mom admired how outgoing and kindhearted her husband was, he thought she was really smart and funny as well, and ofc they both loved their child cared for her were proud of her etc etc. They thought it was funny that she was like really serious as a kid.

Unfortunately there’s no nice way to say this both of Rocio’s parents fucking die :( when they were like 10-12 I think. But in the present day the story takes place in, they aren’t totally sure that’s what happened even though that’s what they suspect, they’re afraid to find out the truth. Basically what happened was once the Suns were like ok let’s use her for our evil plan they not only cursed her, but also killed her parents and then possessed them so as to monitor Rocio and also make sure she didn’t have anyone to turn to etc etc it was very sad whatever. So I guess I would say when they think of their family they feel 1) scared 2) regretful 3) sad. 

They do have an extended family on their dad’s side, but they haven’t actually contacted them at all because they’re afraid of finding out the truth of what happened to their parents (they’re kind of holding out hope they’re still alive while also hoping they’re dead, overall they just really don’t want to know), and also just bc it would make them feel uncomfortable in general. They’re hoping they don’t get recognized in like the newspaper (she last saw any of these people when she was like 9). Some of them live in Zeolan but some also live abroad. I’m not gna say what country because I haven’t come up with a good name for it yet :P

Originally, like in terms of development, Rocio was going to have a younger brother, but then I realized that with her backstory the implications would be kind of horrific. Like, that kid would be DEAD. So I retconned him out of existence as a mercy and she is an only child. It makes more sense anyway, since isolation is a core part of her character, and I think her being an only child would make her more likely to be targeted as a candidate for this type of thing in the first place, in addition to living in the middle of nowhere. That being said, I do miss it, because it would be nice to show her having unconditional affection and support towards someone, since all her other relationships are either the other person being nice to her and her feeling guilty about it, or both people being mean to each other. She should get a hamster to take care of or something.

what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

It’s cliche to say all of them. But all of them. Well, that’s actually not really fair to say. It’s not that they’re unable to deal with a lot of them, it’s more so that the way they deal with emotions is skewed. When uncomfortable, they tend to either press through it for as long as possible to like practice building up their force of will (which is very important for a wizard. Rocio hates eye contact with a passion and yet is undefeated in staring contests) or avoid the situation entirely like just fucking leave. They tend to repress all their emotions as much as they possibly can. If something’s upsetting them they will try to ignore it ever happened/is happening. So it’s not a very good way to deal with negative emotion bc it means the problem never gets addressed, she just channels the frustration or discomfort or regret or whatever else into more motivation for achieving her goal. 

Positive emotions are even worse bc she can’t do that with them. She just has to experience them it’s terrible. Being happy or liking someone makes her miserable. What she does do sometimes is try to channel that into acts of service type things like helping them out in some unemotional way looking like this the whole time 😐 so they can pretend they don’t care. But usually she just is a little freaked out by it. Luckily she doesn’t experience positive emotions very often <3 you know when you’re super hungry and you have a mild headache and everything irritates you that’s how Rocio feels on like an amazing day. 

what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

Not as a person but as a concept. I think they actually do want to be remembered. Well, not that exactly, but they want to make an impact on the world that will last long into the future. They DEFINITELY don’t want to be remembered personally like through stories from people who knew them, if anything they’d actively dislike any sort of like remembrance of their personality at all. I think they’d rather be remembered as a almost religious icon than a historical figure if that makes sense. If that sounds insane and very hubristic it’s because it is and they are. But yeah they’d like to inspire future generations of magic users to do like insane things + try to fully explore its possibilities. 

They definitely don’t want to be remembered by their real name as opposed to their title, they’d strongly prefer that to be lost to time.

what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Ive said before that when first coming up with them, they were supposed to be a foil/competition to Cirillo so I guess I’d say that was the inspiration, like they were kind of the positive of him being more mean and ambitious and powerful etc etc.

Genuinely unironically a lot of the like current/fully realized character (like. After they started having a motivation) was inspired by this meme

(But later on of course both they and the narrative changed a lot. I thought of her being like the main character bc I was like ok if Cirillo is so nice he probably wouldn’t start a con like this on his own so I switched it to him and Rocio working together, + then since I thought of her as a more dramatic character I made her the main character instead. I actually kind of disagree with this decision now I think for what the premise was at the time pitting them against each other was more fun and gave him more agency.)

that would actually be hilarious sorry I’m probably not going to write that much for this cause it’s hard to come up with like in depth ideas but let’s see. I think Rocio would be like a sheltered academic, very interested in magic but with 0 chance of ever experiencing it themselves. They’re very dedicated to studying it and have a lot of secondhand knowledge, but no firsthand experience with magical like creatures or spells or anything. Angel becoming a wizard is a lot harder to justify lol umm maybe if he was a legitimate child recognized as royalty, so he doesn’t really have any power politically he’s pretty much just a rich kid. I think he’d actually be more chill and less entitled this way though, bc what made him that way was a lack of interaction with other people. But yeah maybe if he became interested enough in magic he would want to pursue it and would probably get a lot of support in doing so like monetarily. He has a lot of natural curiosity so I can see that happening. This would have to take place a little further in the future bc Rocio becoming a wizard at 23 is an insane outlier with a lot of special circumstances around it, no way Angel would ever be able to do it at 19. So maybe like 1948-1950 is when it would happen as opposed to 1940.

It taking place in the future has way more of an impact on the story than the character swap lol like would the Reles takeover had worked if Rocio hadn’t gotten involved I don’t think so tbh. Cirillo doesn’t really need to be in the main story bc this is Rocio is relatively well adjusted au (I think he still would be friends with them though and have lived with them in the past, but since moved out). Tiago never gets murdered so honestly he’s probably doing very well, bc of this Gloria and Jacinto never get involved. Rocio might actually die in this bc the wolf demon and Victor were originally supposed to kill Angel since they couldn’t kill a wizard directly. Maybe she’d get killed in the second world bc Angel isn’t as serious a threat of this as they were in the main story so Gabriel (<he has a name now B)))) it’s been like a year since he was created. I might change it Iol bc it has to work as both a human name and a god name so it has to be somewhat but not too dramatic yk) wouldn’t send (subconsciously he is not fully conscious during this time) send assassins to kill them until they were actually in the second world and started having the active intent to kill him. Would Victor be alive so we know the wolf demon got sick of him and wanted to kill him at 1940 but honestly Victor is pretty smart I think he could have escaped or even killed him first. Let’s go with killing him bc fuck that guy. But I think he’s stop being an assassin after that and try to live his own life, and now that he’s an adult I think he’d be successful in that. Since I control the narrative here he might even like help Angel and Rocio that could be fun :)

Ok wait I guess the premise of this au would be Angel is a wizard pretty good at actually doing magic but he doesn’t know enough abt the theory and history and whatever, so Rocio is his like research partner on their joint project to open a portal to the second world and do research on it while there. However since we’re following the original story and bc Angel is still for the most part similar to how he was in the original story (<more mature ofc bc of his different upbringing and being almost fucking 30, and more relaxes, but he has like a similar outlook on life like both the good and bad aspects of it) I think they’d both eventually piece together like how becoming the god of the second world works, and he’s really want to try it, rocio would want to stop him from doing something stupid and insane (<also because it would inconvenience her personally, also she doesnt really trust Angel), but I think his authority and ability to do magic would outrank her and he’d be able to try to like climb the tower ascend to godhood whatever. But he’d fail and die </3 the end <3 that’s my idea
