Switching up my usual Alice-Ares pattern to post Pico! I wanted to put her and Dolce together 😊 tbh I was a little surprised to see she was a bonus outfit since she’s not a marriage candidate... but then again, if you marry Dolce she's part of the package 😂

You know for someone who's played a lot of farm sim games, my favorite thing about Rune Factory 4 is that...people are actually friends? They will actually talk to and about each other unprompted, and it definitely makes Selphia feel warm and cozy

Oooh~ how about a Rune factory 4 & 5 ask for Scarlett ,Dolace and Clorica with an S/O that's the opposite of them personality wise. They're just hyperactive, bubbly and a bit mischievous
(Rune Factory 4/5) Scarlett, Dolce, and Clorica with a hyper S/O
I just started replaying RF4/5 so I'm very much at risk of vanishing again, but I will try my best not to. (Project Zomboid and painting my space marines is doing a good job of that anyway)
Tumblr media
Scarlett's duty as a ranger of SEED is to make sure the peace is maintained in Rigbarth.
Which her lover does a very good job of disrupting, much to her annoyance.
Whether it's indulging Cecil and his tendencies to investigate "mysteries", going along with Ludmilla's plans, or whatever the hell Ares and Alice was up to, S/O was at the scene of the crime.
Her fingers pinch the bridge of her nose as she sighs in frustration.
Meanwhile, S/O just laughs and bats their eyes innocently.
(S/O) "Hello, Scarlett!~"
(Scarlett) "Do not use that tone of voice with me. What are you doing?"
(S/O) "If I tell you, will you not get mad?"
Scarlett crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow.
(Scarlett) "That depends on your answer."
Though truthfully, Scarlett is grateful that S/O is with her at all, despite their difference in personality.
She's aware of her tendency to be a bit square and rigid, yet S/O loved her all the same.
Their overbearing love teaches her to loosen up, at least in some capacity.
Because sometimes, it was a bit too much.
(Scarlett) "S/O, I refuse to let you redecorate your room!"
(S/O) "Aw, but it'll be really cute!"
(Scarlett) "My face plastered all over your walls is not cute!"
(S/O) "...Palmo thought it was a good idea-"
(Scarlett) "CEASE AND DESIST!"
Tumblr media
Dolce's face remains unchanged as both S/O and Pico engage in tomfoolery around Selphia.
Especially the fights where they fight for her "eternal love".
(Pico) "NO! Milady is MINE!"
(S/O) "Dolce would choose me, right sweetie?!"
(Dolce) "Call me that again, and I'll choose to do violence to both of you."
She dares not utter a word of how much she enjoys watching S/O brighten her day, lest she never get to live it down.
Pico and S/O would tease her about it until the end of time.
And since Pico was already a ghost, she actually could do that.
Rarely, Dolce cracks a smile as they both get reprimanded by Nancy.
(Nancy) "S/O, Pico? What have we talked about regarding fighting during breakfast?"
Nancy's menacing smile is enough to get both of them to sit up straight almost bend 90 degrees to apologize.
Making Dolce giggle softly.
(Dolce) "So that's what it takes to make you two be quiet? Maybe I should ask for Nancy to come with us at all times."
(S/O) "N-Not that I'd mind but...!"
(Jones) "Now now, Dolce. Us old timers shouldn't be interfering with your love life."
Dolce's eyes widened a little at Jones' teasing, making Pico and S/O laugh now, with even Nancy joining in.
Dolce glares at the two of them.
(Dolce) "I will kill you two."
Every dramatic and affectionate gesture makes Dolce blush madly, as she tries her best to keep her poker face intact.
All the while, Pico is either hissing, or encouraging S/O.
Tumblr media
Clorica is unused to the sheer energy S/O brings to her. And here she thought Amber was a lot sometimes.
But it wasn't unwelcome at all. Having someone so bouncy was helpful in keeping her awake.
...Most of the time.
Whenever she performed her duties around the castle, she always had S/O to talk with, usually about something amusing happening around Selphia or just nothing in particular.
(S/O) "Cloricaaaaa!"
Clorica spun around and caught S/O, who leapt into her arms dramatically.
She almost fell over, but managed to stand her ground, letting out a soft giggle.
(Clorica) "Hello, S/O. I just got done with my duties for now. Would you like to get lunch?"
(S/O) "Heck yeah! I'm starving, let's get going already!"
Clorica is almost dragged along, making her smile even bigger.
Despite how enthusiastic they were, they always made sure to never force Clorica to do anything.
And even S/O understood that sometimes, she just needed the nap.
(Clorica) zzzz.....
(S/O) "Wow! It never fails to amaze me that she can sleep while cleaning!"
(Vishnal) "I aspire to reach that level of efficiency!
(S/O) "Maybe I can ask her to teach us that!"
(Lest) "I...don't think anyone can be at Clorica's level when it comes to that..."
(Frey) "Not even us."
(S/O) "It's a worth a shot! I'm already halfway there, she taught me how to fall asleep on command! Watch-"
THUD!
(Clorica) "...Huh?"
Clorica's eyes slowly blinked open before her head fell down, and went back asleep.

Actually, while we're on the subject of Dolce's marriage event, I've been very slowly watching the other RF4 marriage events on YT (because I cannot and will probably never marry any of the other bachelors and I don't feel like playing as Lest lol) and finding out that Arthur, Dolce, and Leon's events are all connected was a pretty big smack in the face.
At the start of Dolce's marriage event, Kiel explains to Lest that there was a superstition associated with Leon Karnak: Those who write their names on the right foot of the tower will end up having a happy family. This stems from a legend about a couple who had promised to get married; despite not being destined to be together, they put their names side by side to remember their promise. Sound familiar?
Tumblr media
For those of you who have married Leon or at least watched his marriage event online, you already know that Leon carved his name at Leon Karnak alongside that of his childhood friend, Maria, who he had promised to marry. Now I don't know if they were the first to carve their names into Leon Karnak's base (it's been a long time since I watched his marriage event in full), but if they were, then their actions spawned a tradition that ultimately lasted for centuries.
Unfortunately, the legend associated with their act is a tad inaccurate, since it claims that despite their star-crossed romance, the couple ultimately became a happy family. The reality is that Leon and Maria never married; for starters, Leon hadn't even been serious about their promise, since he viewed Maria like a sister and only agreed to marry her in order to get her to stop crying. Then Leon made the ultimate sacrifice and became the first Guardian, forever separating him and Maria. All of Leon's personal issues in the present day stem from the guilt for not taking that promise seriously, since unlike him, Maria had firmly vowed to keep her end of the bargain (Leon marrying her in exchange for her not crying) and he's convinced that she spent the rest of her life in silent misery because of him.
Of course, no one knew that the legend is inaccurate, and in the centuries after Leon became a Guardian, countless couples and families carved their names into the base of Leon Karnak in the hope that the charm associated with the tower would ensure their family's happiness. Among the names carved there in the name of the superstition were that of Dolce's family, which included her, her parents, and Pico.
Tumblr media
At the time Dolce's family carved their names into the tower base, Pico was... apprehensive. Dolce and her parents considered her a part of their family, but Pico did not simply because of her nature of a ghost. So what did they do? They "tricked" her into carving her name next to Dolce's, under the guise that they were simply comparing heights. Pico knew exactly what they were doing, but she did it anyway and in doing so, she finally accepted herself as a part of their family.
Unfortunately, much like Leon, the story of Dolce's family does not end happily either. Some years later, Dolce chose to become the second Guardian; as a result, she ultimately outlived her parents and Pico spent the next several centuries waiting for the day the Earthmates finally found a suitable replacement for the Guardians. After she was freed by Lest/Frey, Jones and Nancy took Dolce and Pico in. Jones and Nancy want Dolce to feel like a part of their family, but Dolce is reluctant to accept them as her new parents. Not a single trace of her parents remains in the present day, even the names her family carved at Leon Karnak; she is afraid that if she accepts Jones and Nancy as her new parents, she'll forget her real parents and then they'll truly be gone forever. At the end of her marriage event, a desperate Pico nearly severs her connection with Dolce in a vain attempt to find their family's names and prove that Dolce's parents still exist in some form, terrifying both Dolce and Lest. This tradition is seeming like less of a charm and more of curse if you ask me.
But oh, it's gets better, and this time the unhappiness doesn't even stem from someone becoming a Guardian.
At one point or another, the location of the superstition switched from Leon Karnak to a cave closer to Selphia, most likely because so many names had been carved into the base of the tower. Not only that, but the superstition continued to increase in popularity; commoners and nobility alike from across Norad were visiting the cave in order to take advantage of the charm, and it became so well-known that even the royal family eventually took notice.
Tumblr media
As a child, Arthur visited on Selphia while on vacation with his family, which consisted of himself, his father AKA the King of Norad, and his mother, who served as one of the king's mistresses. His mother was interested in the superstition associated with the cave, and she and Arthur carved their names into the wall of the cave to, of course, ensure their family's happiness. The problem was that Arthur's mother had... issues. Issues that involved her not being able to adjust to life in the palace back at the capital and she desperately wanted escape that life, which unfortunately required her to leave Arthur behind. To that end, she convinced everyone that she hated him so that she'd be quietly dismissed from the castle. Unfortunately, Arthur believed in her lies as much as everyone else did and, in turn, came to hate her. Eventually, she disappeared entirely and Arthur never saw her again.
A part of him, however, wanted to believe his mother did love him and some years later, Arthur returned to the cave to confirm his mother's feelings, as well as assist in a tourism enterprise. The day he went in, a cave-in occurred and he was so desperate to find his and his mother's names, he stayed in as long as he could and didn't get out in time; he and many other people were buried alive. It was only through Jones and Nancy's efforts that his life was saved. After this tragic event, the cave was abandoned and the centuries-long tradition of carving names in Selphia finally came to an end. By the time RF4's events roll around, the charm seems destined to remain a mere memory and even that too might eventually fade.
...Until you get married, that is.
Tumblr media
During the Sweet Nothings town event, Porcoline comes up with a new version of the superstition that requires couples to carve their names into the hull of the airship. Although he intended to do it with Frey/Lest, the protagonist runs off to grab their spouse and does it with them instead. The overall narrative of the event is the same regardless of who it is that Frey/Lest has married; however, that is perhaps is what makes it most meaningful. No matter who the player chooses to marry, Frey/Lest ultimately continues a centuries-long tradition that very narrowly avoided dying out. And this time? We know the family is destined for happiness. This is especially touching in the cases of Arthur, Dolce, and Leon, since the families they originally carved their names with ultimately fell apart. By carving their names with Frey/Lest, they are fully moving on from the people in their past towards a bright future with the one they love most. It's a beautiful part of their individual epilogues.

Been trying to figure out RF4 character heights for a while now since all these charts I've been finding have mixed information, and upon rewatching the game's intro I realized that this... exists for the bachelors and bachelorettes.
They're not all standing in a straight line so I'm making guesses and using a lasso tool, but it seems like, from tallest to shortest...
It's Leon, Dylas or Vishnal, Arthur, Doug, Frey/Lest, Clorica, Meg, Forte or Dolce, Kiel, Xiao Pai, Amber, and Pico is... taller than expected.
Some of these are surprising. I thought Forte was taller than she is here, Kiel is close to Forte's height and Vishnal is tall af. It's nice Frey and Lest are the same height though.

Part 10 of my RF4 child redesigning project: Dolce!
For Dolce we have Enoch, Minerva (Minnie), and Dahlia!
Basically, all names that I would give to goth children.
Enoch is a grumpy older brother. He is much like his mother, closed off and quiet with little patience for more outgoing people (Pico). Dolce enjoys making clothes (especially knitting), and Enoch took on this skill at a young age. He and Dolce will literally sit together for hours, barely talking, while they work on their projects. Enoch would like to have his own clothing store when he’s older, preferably one in the Capital (even if he doesn’t like people very much). He finds his younger sister Minerva to be a little annoying and avoids her like the plague.
Minerva is an excitable, charismatic girl. She easily makes friends with everyone around her. She takes an interest in nearly everything, and has a variety of skills and hobbies to keep her busy. One day it might be making medicine with Grandma Nancy, and the next it might be music lessons from Margaret. Either way, she fills up her days with lots of activities and friends. Minerva adores her family, and especially likes when Pico is around.
Dahlia is the youngest, and tends to keep to herself. However, she will light up whenever you ask her about her favorite subject: spiders. She loves them with all her little heart and spends a lot of her time studying them. Dahlia likes to walk around town with her pet spider, Bernard, and show him things (”here’s the restaurant, here’s the observatory...”). She tends to spend most of her time looking around for more spiders.
For all of Dolce’s children I wanted to go with looks similar to hers. Dolce is stated to make clothes for Pico, so I like to think she would make her children clothes, too. I also enjoy Dolce’s aesthetic a lot, so I wanted to lean into it.
Next will be Xiao Pai!
