the thing abt the best theschmear post ever ("not everything is about the jews get over yourself") is that i really do need that reminder all the time. it's making fun of hey alma et al ofc but also it's just generally so true like it's so hard to remember sometimes how really most things in the world aren't about us

#the problem of course is that a very disproportionate amount of things are indeed about us. but still many things are not #txt #reading les mis i would always try to think so hard abt every time the jews were mentioned and like. my ultimate conclusion was that it #simply was not actually saying anything interesting. like vicky just didn't think about us much #i mean i do still think that the thenardiers' characterizations were likely influenced by antisemitic tropes but i really don't think he #did that on purpose yknow #also there was a moment when i was thinking about the whole central theme as being abt supercessionism but like.#to the extent that it is like. again i really don't think he was thinking about us at all #i did enjoy when r was like 'i wasn't meant to be a parisian' though. that was fun
