They didn’t waste time on preparing their departure...
It did not matter to them, not at all, that the academy was prepared. One by one they took their helmets, the moment they finished speaking, finished being the source of release to a few.
They had sworn vengance towards the enemy, he knew he would regret the words soon enough.
They arrive by sunset, magic at the ready. He can feel their seething anger, the bloodlust in their souls screaming, howling and roaring for the souls of those behind the walls. It was... distracting, the focus on his thoughts was not easier by his own LV.
The prince doesn’t speak to any, even when a single man is sent o negotiate. He is burn to ashes quickly enough. He turns to the guards at the tops... he almost feels pity... almost. His hands raise, crushing the air around them and the earth rumbles. Yes... he can feel the fiery veins of this world... deep... oh so deep. And he calls upon them, steam and smoke breaks free through the developing cracks around him...
“ Upon ash and smoke you greeted us, and paid us thank for keeping our lands safe. And so I bring you forth back what you had given, fire, ash and smoke. For the blood shed, souls shall break... may god have mercy upon your soul... “

Lava breaks free from the mountains behind in a booming explosion, pyroplastic smoke rising upwards in a terrible uncanny form of a winged beast, distant violent vents becoming its horrifying hiss. He waves his hand to the side, and so the dark cloud moves to his will, descending quickly to the slopes and then towards the internall valley, until it is by their feets, held from its ruinous path by their will, by his will. A stream of lava rises from behind the academy, taller than the tree, red and gold as a sunset, red and gold as the lights of a town burnt. The horns of the academy sound, they feel a barrier grow stronger behind, but they care not...
He lifts his hand once more, his peers follow, The dark behemoth of a black cloud rises once more, wing like shapes flapping as another booming sound from the newly made volcano behind rumbles the ground. And as it happens, their hand is brought down.
Their barrier shatters with ease.
Like a storm, the ash, smoke and fire scorches the land around them, setting fire to most things, even the tree they once admired. They did not mourn its burning agony. He inhales deeply taking in the head he had unleashed, he lets it pool on his chest. Then in a stable stream, he unleashes a single long breath. And fire soon enough begins to clash against wood and metal framed gates. Little does the gate do against the vicious heat, collapsing quickly on itself as wood turns to coal and ash, while metal melts much in a similar manner to immitate the molten rock comming from deep below.
One the last remains fall, he unsheathes his sword. A single order given, to charge and let none alive. And so his loyal soldiers do, without hesitation, without thought. A single war cry their fleeting warning before death comes upon their enemies...
Needless to say, this night would be a bloodbath...

Oh great, there's a new form of plastic pollution that looks exactly like rocks
Plastic pollution has reached the Antarctic wilderness. It’s at Earth’s highest peak, and its deepest chasm. And yet, the extent of this insidious plague can still take us by surprise. According to new research, plastic has now turned up camouflaged as ordinary pebbles.
These small chunks of plastic – called pyroplastics – are created when plastic is heated as part of the manufacturing process, or when pieces of plastic are melted by unknown processes in the environment. These are then weathered in much the same way as rocks, shedding microplastic as the faux pebbles are abraded by sand and sea.
Because they look so much like rocks, these pyroplastics may have escaped our notice all over the world – they’re similar, the researchers noted, to “plastiglomerates” found in Hawaii, chunks of plastic mixed with sand and shells, melted together by campfires.
But not identical. The pyroplastics were almost pure plastic.
“Pyroplastics are evidently formed from melting or burning of plastic and are distinctly different from manufactured (primary and secondary) marine plastics in terms of origin, appearance and thickness,” the researchers write in their paper.
“Since pyroplastics have been retrieved by colleagues from Atlantic beaches in Spain and Pacific beaches of Vancouver, they are not a regional phenomenon, and it is suspected that their distribution may be widespread but that documentation is lacking because of a distinctly geogenic appearance.”

As if that’s not bad enough, these plastics could even be leaching lead into the environment.
Environmental scientist Andrew Turner of the University of Plymouth and colleagues conducted their research on 165 chunks of plastic from the beaches of Whitsand Bay in Cornwall. They also received an additional 30 chunks from the Orkneys in Scotland, County Kerry in Ireland, and north-western Spain.
The team subjected the samples to tests to find out what they’re made of. Attenuated total reflection and infrared spectroscopy revealed that the samples were mostly either polyethylene (commonly used in plastic bags and packaging), polypropylene (hard plastic commonly used for packaging and containers), or a combination of both.
But it was X-ray fluorescence analysis that revealed the presence of lead – often accompanied by chromium. This implies the presence of lead chromate, a compound that can be mixed with plastic to give it a yellow, red, or orange hue.
Its use has been curtailed by the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), but the amounts found in the samples exceed the RoHS limits – which implies that the plastic predates 2003.

Here is where it gets really concerning. Some of the samples were adhered with the calcium carbonate tubes of the marine worm Spirobranchus triqueter. Lead was found in these tubes.
This suggests, the researchers said, that compounds in the plastic could be at least partially bioavailable – capable of entering living bodies. If the lead in the plastic can be absorbed by the worms, it could also be in the worms’ excrement, or passed on to the worms’ predators.
More research should be conducted in order to determine how much of this camouflaged plastic is hiding in plain sight, the researchers said. Only then can we accurately gauge how much microplastic and dangerous compounds they’re releasing into the environment.
“Pyroplastics require their own classification within the umbrella of marine litter, and are a source of finer plastic particulates through mechanical breakdown and a potential source of contaminants for organisms that inhabit or ingest them,” the team writes in their paper.
The research has been published in Science of The Total Environment.

The overuse of plastics by human beings has carried it to the wilderness of Antarctica along with the highest and deepest places on Earth. But it still manages to surprise us in its new forms. A new research has found plastics in the camouflage of ordinary pebbles. The study has been published in the journal Science of the Total Environment.
Known as pyroplastics, these plastic chunks are created when plastic is melted by some process such as manufacturing. Then they get weathered in a way similar to rocks and keep shedding microplastics as they are carried by the sea and sands.
They have escaped our attention being similar to rocks. They have been detected as plastiglomerates in Hawaii, where they were mixed with sands and shells. However they differ from manufactured plastic in terms of origin, thickness and appearance. They have been found in Spain, Vancouver, hence it is suspected that it might not be a regional phenomenon. We are not able to document it on a large scale due to its geogenic appearance.
Andrew Turner from the University of Plymouth and his colleagues researched on 165 plastic chunks from Whitsand Bay beaches in Cornwall. Hence there is a necessity to conduct research on a wider scale to find out the actual quantity of this plastic which is hiding from our daily view. Their impact on the environment and the amount of microplastics released can be properly gauged after that.
Pyroplastics need to classified in a separate manner within the classification of marine litter. Researchers mention that they are also a source of finer plastic particles which are then able to contaminate organisms who ingest them.
