shikaneji since i don’t really ship zhongchi 😁

what i like shikaneji is that they balance each other out nicely. like neji is the well put together man who doesn’t have a speck of dust on his clothes. his hair long and pretty and he’s always so elegant. but shikamaru, although he can be elegant when he has to, he honestly doesn’t care all that much about etiquette. i think shikamaru would help neji loosen up a bit and just enjoy life.

in an au where neji lives and he’s stressing out about clan matters, shikamaru just steals the young hyuuga and takes him to a hill top to just cloud watch. a pass time that neji slowly appreciates and looks forward to.

i think that neji also helps bring out shikamaru’s social life. like the nara heir isn’t anti social or a loner but he prefers to be on his own because people are annoying. he’ll be with his friends once a weak when his social battery is filled up before he hides under the trees to recharge. neji would take him out on dates but knows and understands that shikamaru doesn’t want to go out every time and sometimes having an indoor date is better. and neji respects that.

idk, i just really like their dynamics and i have like they have so much potential but they’re so underrated 😔
