the rant of societal roles was one @praybird expelled with passion —— at least , that's the impression he had gotten. truthfully , it was a bit long winded and he wondered if she would run out of breath before she had the chance to finish. ( but cut him some slack ) he managed to hang on with claws for at least half of it before starting to zone out. though he would finally come back down to reality towards the end [ ... ] and it felt like a good place for his own input ; whether or not that was what she was looking for. if for nothing , than to at least prove that he was still here in the room with her. a small smile began to creep on the corners of his lips and the blur started to clear —— once again finding her beneath it. ❛❛ i guess so. ❜❜

ahh dillon!! i’m always 😲👀🫶🏼 at everything you write. i think you have such a good hold of “showing not telling” in how you’ve described your characters in their mini blurbs. you create deeply flawed muses with these struggles and rawness to them that has honestly captivated me as an audience, wanting to know how they evolve or devolve. the inspo and tropes you choose to connect each with are chef kisses tbh. and yeah like! i find you to be an inspiring writer, definitely looking forward to more from this universe you’ve set up and excited to see what dynamics we build as well :’)) and!! you yourself are really cool and honestly so easy to talk to, made me comfortable right off the bat !

talk about a favorite headcanon. there's so many to choose from! it may be the obvious answer, but i really love talking about andie's pacifism. it is one of the things that sets her apart, but also it defines so much of her character. and it adds (imo) a lot of complexity to how she moves through life and especially to her being a hero because it is still a very flawed and often imperfect viewpoint, which i think is really interesting to think about. it does get people hurt even as it also prevents that. i could, have, and will, continue to go on and on about it. this isn't so much a headcanon as just character building. uhm. i also love the headcanon that andie is truly horrible at giving nicknames. they are so bad (love you so bad liam "lima bean" kaz i hope you're well) and she has no idea and thinks they're gold.

talk about a favorite bit of world building! tbh i feel like this year has been lacking in world building... she's from 616 so so much of it is already built. i've loves talking about her relationships to people and especially at FEAST which is something i'm working on fleshing out more. she knows and has a relationship with may parker that is very special to me. may inspires her to work at FEAST and believes in her and invites her to shabbat dinner and tries to set her up with her nephew all the time. a very positive influence on the civilian side of andie's life! also very proud of all the work i've done with birdie over at @heartattackband to create andie's little ensemble of friends who are in a band!! this is also hardly answering the question... goal for next year is to flesh out andie's world!

wildcard. i am really proud of the work i did with my friends this year on the films we made! we bit off a bit more than we could chew, but we all learned a lot and i'm really glad that we let our passions guide us and attempted the projects that we were excited about. it was often difficult, awful, and insanely stressful, but we don't talk enough about how wonderful it is that we went all in tried out best, had some wild & fun moments, and came closer together because of it. i wouldn't have changed what we did for the world and we all wrote some incredible scripts to boot!

FELIX IS NOT A LIGHT SLEEPER.      it's rare that he more than stirs in the night. occasionally, he'll head to the bathroom, piss, take a few sips of water from the rusty sink tap ( since the kitchen sink is miles away ), palm to mouth, entirely with eyes closed, and then fall back into bed. he never remembers this process, it melds with his perfectly grounded dreams. what more is there to dream of when you already have it all?

that's all this is, a trip to the bathroom, when jamie stops him in his tracks. he had suggested they share the bathroom solely out of kindness so that felix is nearby in case of surprise three am emergencies. he hadn't actually expected to ever run into him at this hour. yet, here they are, eye to eye in the total silence saltburn provides.

"jamie,"   he acknowledges,   "are you having trouble sleeping?"   his words are groggy and slow, but the intention of his concern remains. he rubs his sleepy eyes to ensure it is in fact @praybird and not a perverse intruder, but either way, it doesn't stop him from pulling down his pyjama bottoms as he reaches the toilet. no different to standing side-by-side in the stalls, he thinks, only jamie is trapped in conversation with him here.

"i always feel a bit homesick when we go back to school,"   he says, ambling across the kitchen sink now, though it's only a half-truth for the sake of comforting his guest. he misses his king-size bed, the catering, vee, but he could take or leave the rest. he washes his hands, yawning as he says,   "if you want to talk, i'll light a ciggie."

"right." in fairness, it's far from the worst thing that's been said about her. teddy could have said, you're as bad as i thought you were, who doesn't like a redemption arc. "...and well, as you can imagine i didn't take that very well so i told him where he could stick that rejection letter." there's a toothy grin on aurora's face as they plop a piece of popcorn into their mouth. she holds up a hand to pause as she swallows, shoulders shrugging slightly. if it hadn't been for her painfully sarcastic observation —— there was a chance he wouldn't have even noticed the freshman couple nearby. he now wished that had been the case. and once a blue gaze settled on the eyesore sight , it was enough to bring a small twist of distaste to his features [ ... ] sweaty palms holding hands as if they were anchors , quiet giggles after leaning into the others ear , ogling exchanges meant just for the two of them ; but public affections would instead be put on display for the rest of the poor singles in their vicinity. eyes gave a roll before he averted his attention to glance back at teddy and became too unbothered to lower his voice. ❛❛ yeah , nothing says romance like a relationship that'll last two weeks tops. ❜❜

maybe he was bitter... or maybe he didn't like being forced to bear witness to couples only seconds away from sucking face. the jury was still out —— but both were very likely possibilities. ❛❛ gross. shouldn't they like , be in school or something? ❜❜ no , because it was a late saturday afternoon and it's no ones fault but his own that he can't keep track of the days in a week.

What made you pick up this character? / What’s the best thing about the canon you are writing? / Have you tweaked the character from canon? If so, what did you tweak? (for connell and marianne!)

what made you pick up this character ? -- oh man, so as i'm sure like most others, i watched normal people and then read it then after, during the lockdown. they both really resonated with me in regards to the loneliness they both feel in feeling so detached by the world around them, the anxiety over the self and how we're perceived by others (esp connell), and the coming together and apart again, the longing between them-- i love those types of ships in media. admittedly, i'm not usually one for miscommunication tropes. but, i feel the way it's been portrayed, while still frustrating at times is so deeply engrained as well to the type of people they are and the tribulations of growing up. in some ways, they needed to learn to communicate and sadly, they would not often do that together, and instead would allow the miscommunication to break them apart. but, i guess, i wanted to try my hand at writing characters who are such in their heads about each other and themselves. *connell's therapy session scene honestly hit so close to home for me. especially him filling out the assessment... yeah. YEAH. the displacement he felt.... gosh, sorry i had to talk further on this.

what's the best thing about the canon you are writing ? -- i'm going to preface this question as well as the next one by saying that i haven't had tons of opportunities to write connell and marianne. normal people is both widely known but also not, i feel. so, i haven't explored beyond the canon already set. thus far, i think the best part is exploring friendships for both characters outside of each other and those in the show. like, with @danversiism , having that sisterly connection with marianne (something she absolutely lacks in canon, as well as a healthy female relationship outside of joanna), and connell and carol's deep understanding of one another, someone that connell can feel comfortable to express himself around outside of marianne. that's been the best thing i think is exploring how they would interact with others, especially someone they would regard as very close.

have you tweaked the character from canon? if so, what did you tweak? - so, yeah, i unfortunately haven't spared it deep thought. i tend to want to tweak things with canon characters so i'm sure something will pop up (as is the purpose of roleplay!), but-- one thing that i appreciated about the show i believe that they did differently from the book is connell tells marianne about his scholarship. whereas in the book, i think he doesn't communicate it right away, something like that. and i feel that it would have been such an opportunity for connell to display growth in communicating outright. so, while it's still considered canon as its in the show anyhow, that's something that i would take as truer to their development. but, i'm going to keep in mind what i can tweak !
