De-winterize Your Boat

THE GOLDEN GALLEY GAS HEATER PROTOTYPE

and

THE GOLDEN GALLEY ANNUAL AWARDS FOR ORGANIZATIONS SERVICING THE HOMELESS, FOR MEDIA CREATION IN AFRICAN PROVERB STORYTELLING, HOMELESS TAKES HIS LIFE BACK, HUISMA MET DIE HELE HUISKINNES AND THE MOST NOTEWORTHY HOMELESS AND HUNGRY SOLUTIONS (not currently happening but would, in a perfect world, according to Simone. Me.)

A Galley - This is something used in township, as a make-do heater; made from a 20l aluminium paint tin, which has had the paint washed out and then pierced along the whole exterior of the tin with about the diameter or length of a large kitchen knife, although I have heard the holes shouldn't be too big as the holes are not to allow heat out but rather oxygen in, to feed the fire.

A 20l aluminium paint tin out of which a heater is made, by piercing holes along the side and making a fire inside. When the wood has-been reduced to hot coals,the "Galley" (or 20l aluminium paint tin) is taken inside to warm the home.

The whole Galley emits heats; as aluminium is a good heat conductor, if the heat from the coalsis constant. If the holes pierced along the exterior, are too large - one can burn from the direct exposure to the flames/coals through said hole or holes.

A fire burning.

At first, a fire is made outdoors (sometimes inside the Galley and sometimes in a seperate fireplace) and the coals transferred into the Galley. The Galley is taken inside the home to keep everyone warm and potentially heat water or dry washed underwear.

Bathing next to the Galley 'heater', makes the cold water bath a bit more bearable and one can, thereby, avoid colds and flu from developing, as a result of hypothermia from exposure to the cold air and having to bath, in ice cold water simultaneously. Cape Town gets cold.

Some of my suggested Galley exterior materials and patterns. Also, it's just a Mood Board, I suppose, for the vision I have for the Golden Galley.

At a later stage, once a few fires have been made in the Galley, the fire can be made directly in the Galley, as there is enough Black (half-burnt Ash or natural charcoal) that a fire can be easily started. Remember that, another reason why the fire is made outside and the Galley then taken inside, is as a result of the smoke caused by burning wood. The Galley is also a safety mechanism that ensures one can have heat from coals in the home, without anyone or anything burning or setting alight.

Without an extractor fan, wet wood, kindling, bark, gum and nettles, acorns etc. and certain kinds of wood, even when dry can cause eye-watering smoke clouds. Also, this smoke leaves a pungent residue smell in fabrics that are normally exposed indoors such as bedding, mattresses and curtains.

Suggested Galley textures and paint job.

So, the ideas are:

1. I know there are electrical and gas-powered heaters on the market, as well as those fueled by parafin. I was thinking of a heater, that is gas powered, similar to the gas-powered one that looks like a small, round, bar table with an umbrella or overhanging lip on top, connected by a central picnic table pole; from which, heat emanates from most of the surface area of the device. Very hot! Good for heating up a whole khaya. As is the Galley.

THE PRODUCT

We have an original Galley as the prototype. We then 3D print a copy of a Galley including the holes and bends inwards and the petticoat lip on the top, where the lid seals the paint contents into the aluminium tin.

On a non heat conductive pedestal in the same round shape (only a few mm's wider- maybe one could use lined tyres!) made from a material that is also not flammable but that will also house a gas canister.

This Gas Galley can be used indoors and outdoors, even in partial rain or drizzling conditions but needs to be given some on time indoors to dry itself, thereafter.

THE aesthetic I chose was a galvanized steel as the paint tin, surrounded by a lighter mesh flat sphere base, which can hold a wider circular sheet (or bars) of round or square bar - which will act as a barrier for children or the elderly, which can be removed.

These two componants; the grill and the Galley; will be sprayed in gold, silver, bronze, gunmetal or rose gold. A good quality metallic paint with reflective particles will ensure an upmarket aesthetic, but with a very local and Township and African flavour.

The pedestal can be made of a material called W.O.O.D. - which.combines wood dust, tiny wood shavings, silicon and glue - poured into moulds and set. A golden wood dye can be added before pouring. I assume it can also be spray painted.

Another accessory I thought of is a umbrella style top which, like the umbrella gas heater, heats along the whole surface area; which keeps one warm from all sides. This would be useful at a stall on a rainy market fat or when socializing outside, having a braai.

The whole purpose behind this design would be to give the good old Galley a 2nd run as uSmaat version of itself, as well as making this iconic, unforgettable symbol of Township available to the world; at a price, as a souvenir of Township.

Also, it has been proven that in rural and Township Africa, plastics of all kinds are burnt to start fires. This toxic smoke is breathed in by all people, warming themselves at the fire and with a half-life of 20 years, the harmful, toxic compounds in burnung plastics bond to the person DNA in their fat cells; releasing toxins unpredictably, within the half-life's time limit. Build ups of toxins like these cause tumors and cancer. The gas Galley will decrease the incidence of unexplained or obscure types of cancers. Propane and butane gas are the cleanest of oils, gases and fossil fuels, with no harmful by-products and little, if any, harmful effects are noted in the human body, from diluted inhalation and skin exposure.

It would also just be an expression of 'We are who we are. And proud of ourselves and aren't going to be throwing anyone or anything away, coming up in the world, including and especially not our beloved Galleys that saw us through many cold nights and days and weeks of storms and no clothes-drying sunlight. The Galley stays. A golden Galley.'

This represents the hearth or meeting place in a kitchen where the mother gen feeds and cares for her family. However, the hearth is also associated with charitable actions, huiskinnes (adopted, neighbourhood kids), storytelling and the imparting of wisdom through the Socratic method of African parables - usually noted as references to the natural world, the different species being personified and characterized as human entities, with human and moral struggles of conscience vs. winning or greed or being a backstabbing character or trusted friend to win.

Because of this narrative and the unsung existance of it in Township, I propose that we create an annual award for:

1. The Huisma of the year, whose Galley was always available in freezing South African winters.

2. The Ubuntu Award

3. The African story-teller Award for

☆ literature in Mother tongue (to be printed in both original and English for the world to delight in for award nominations, awards and publishing thereafter in singular writer sponsored work as well as Awards of the Year hardcover)

☆ education or upskilling programs

☆ creating paid or gainful employment for the once homeless

☆ daily necessary facilities for homeless people

☆ Administration or record keeping of interactions with the homeless, gatgering helpful profiles

☆ innovative fundraising

☆ making ca$h available to the homeless

☆ safe space therapy and trauma counselling

☆ advocating/ lobbying / time in the field /picking fights

☆ inventors or financiers of free useful gear like tents, backpacks or the i❤CapeTown #LoveProject stickers to sell etc.

☆ soup kitchens/feeding schemes and support food hampers

5. Once homeless, standing, surviving around the Galley, who has uphanded themselves off the street and into HomeKhaya and supported independence (with ongoing mentoring, social services, counselling, subsidies, grants etc.)

For example, I 💟 the CapeTownSecretLiveProject which prints 3 multi-coloured ❤️s of varying sizes in nice packaging - that is given to street people to sell on the street. I love how accessible it is and how everyone loves stickers! I think with some investment, the #CapeTownSecret❤️Project could even vary sticker designs, packaging and even get some new products going. They have the right idea. People can support the initiative by pledging R20 for 3 packets of stickers for homeless people to sell.

Then, I know of an initiative in Observatory (don't know the name) who had backpacks especially made for homeless people that had a variety of goodies inside and built into the backpack was a solar phone charger. I saw one of the backpacks and it was pretty cool. If those two could collaborate, it would be great.

Carrebeean, Here we are!!!

As I said before: 5783 nautical miles we sailed towards this little paradise where we are still on quarantine anchorage. Waiting on the PCR result is always making me a bit nervous, especially this time. If we are tested negative, we have the chance here in Grenada to get the AstraZeneca vaccines and we will travel much freer than we do now.

But no boredom: a little leak in the hand wash basin, try to clean the mud off ELITSHA, friends and family to speak to, small other repairs, taking the lead in UBUNTU again since we have full and unlimited internet on board, planning and booking Zora’s and Su’s tickets towards us, baking bread again and of course swimming and snorkelling.

But let me talk first a little bit about Suriname and our short sail to Grenada. Suriname was for a long time a Dutch colony. Since 1975, this country is the smallest independent state in South America. The previous president unfortunately abused his power and all the resources the beautiful country has, for example gold, aluminium, oil, bananas got exported unwisely and the profit went into the presidents and his friend’s pockets. That is what Surinamers were telling us. In the meantime, there is a new president, but there is Corona as well. The ECO tourism, Suriname was good and well known for, stands still and the country is in a bad state and shape. At the banks of the Suriname river, entering Suriname, you see big and then I mean really big villas. According to the locals they belong to friends of the former president and to drug lords. A very familiar story to us South Africans. The Netherlands is still involved and helps where they can, but a few days after we left Suriname they closed the country: total lockdown. Just above 500 000 people live in Suriname and most of them in and close to Paramaribo. People are currently getting infected and dying in huge numbers from Corona: not enough hospital beds, not enough vaccinations, not enough oxygen……… not enough doctors and nurses. Their rainy season is terrible this year due to the ELNino effect and its really tuff for the poor population. After a good week in the Marina and a road trip through the rural part of the country to a big dam where people are searching for gold, visiting banana plantations, visiting Paramaribo with a lot of rain we said goodbye to the populated part of Suriname together with Elitsha and we sailed into the Commewijne river. This was so romantic and special. The jaguars, caiman and anacondas were too scared of us, hahahahha. We did not see them, but we heard and enjoyed the voices of the jungle, saw and heard millions of birds, parrots and all kind of other noises. It was magical. Three days we were totally one with nature, did not see any human being, together with Elitsha.

Coming back from Commewijne river was coming back to happy reggae life. Looking for a spot ashore to get our dingy on board for the trip to Grenada, a fisher of New Amsterdam waved us to come next to his fisher boat. Loud reggae music and a very friendly crew invited us for coffee, tea and biscuits……….and dagga and rum………..Unfortunately, we had to say thank you no (dagga and rum out of question, of course). The threat of getting infected just before we go back to sea again for a couple of days made us kindly refusing the offer. Even though we chatted a while with them and they helped us to get the dingy motor on board. And that’s how Surinamers are, chatty, always happy to assist and help, curious and interested about who you are. As I mentioned before people told us in advanced, that coming to South or Central America or the Caribbean with a South African flag would ask for problems. That was one of the reasons why we registered Elitsha in Germany. But we always say that we are from Cape Town, we don’t hide that and up to now we had no bad experiences. People are impressed that we come from that far to visit their small country and want to know if we like it. They loved the fact that we speak Dutch, because Dutch is still the first language in Suriname. Anyway, after chatting to the fishermen, we tied everything nicely, slept a short night and left New Amsterdam and Suriname at 6 am on the 25th of May.

Aware of the thread of Venezuelan pirates (Surinamers and NOON site (cruiser website) informed us about it), we sailed at a safe distance from the coast. Even though we choose to pass trough the Galleon’s passage between Trinidad and Tobago, but we choose to pass it close to the Tobago side, away of the Venezuelan coast. On our way we saw a fair number of oil platforms, huge ones, with huge flames, we could see from far. This was also a bit spooky. We had 35 to 40 knots of wind and a good speed to leave the oil area and the Galleon’s passage behind us. I think, pirates do not like rain. We had tons of rain and no pirates though……..although: Dick told me later, that 40 miles out of both coasts, the Grenadian and the Tobagonian, a fast open boat with 3 men in it sped past us. We think they were checking us out, how rich we are. The stretch between Tobago and Grenada apparently is also declared as an unsafe area. That is what we heard later when we arrived in Grenada. Our neigor, Steve, always has a gun with him. Happily, with enough wind and a strong currant we passed Tobago at 4:30 in the morning and arrived safely in Grenada at 17:00 on the 28th of May.

Close to the harbour at the quarantine anchorage we spoke to our South African friends of the Aventura, a young couple with 2 dogs and his parents on their way to emigrate to Panama. We saw them in every harbour we visited up to now. They left Suriname a few days earlier then we did. They craved for blue water and thought jaguar, caiman and anaconda would perhaps love their dogs too much. In any way, nice to see them again. They explained the Grenadian procedures to us and on Saturday we went ashore to register with the health department. We inhaled the positive and relaxed Grenadian vibe immediately: steel drum music from the taverns, people on the streets, Corona is almost dealt with.

And in the meantime, 1 week in St George, we are declared negative and are allowed to explore the island. Paul, a registered tour guide grabbed his chance. Slandering around the harbour he almost forced us to have a tour with him. The cruise ships are missed by restaurants, tour guides…not by us. Paul told us, that they on “good” days had 6000 tourists from cruise ships ashore. Dick and I were quite happy to escape these “good“ days. Pity for Paul, that’s why we went with him on a long trip through St. George at noon and let him earn some ECDs. Hot and up and down, I was exhausted at the end. We didn’t walk much for the last 2 months at least..

Grenada is the spice island: nutmeg, gloves, cinnamon, and other spices grow here. They have a golden waterfall and many more attractions. We will explore them all and share with you. For now, we experienced the spicy side of the island by drinking shandies with nutmeg, eating ice cream with nutmeg and gloves and some other weird things you would think its really ugg, but in reality it’s absolutely amazing.

We are registered for Astra Zeneca vaccination and yes, we are in a marina with a nice club house and WIFI and not on anchorage or at a mooring buoy. For the first time in almost 3 months, I am able to go and stay where I want on my own. For somebody like me, who likes her independence, its heaven. Opposite of our little paradise, there is another marina, posh and expensive and not really our style. Elitsha, would feel a bit lonely between all the posh-million dollar-yachts. I don’t know, if I mentioned before, that a lot of other cruisers, have fancy and well-equipped boats with freezers, bread baking automates, washing machine, water cooker……. you name it. Our only luxury is a fridge, a BBQ and a good stove with oven, cosy and exactly what we need no more and no less. Anyway, Elitsha got a good clean-up. Sticky, a local guy, Dick and I made her looking pretty again. The water of the Suriname river was dirty through mud and chemicals, they use for the gold extraction industry, we learned. My home office is in the marina’s clubhouse, with more than brilliant views! Unfortunately, UBUNTU for Africa’s operations manager, who took over financials and admin of the NGO from me, resigned a few days ago. That’s why I am back on the job and working every day for an hour or 3. Alene Edson Smith, local social worker, who was already involved in the family program and took over my job at Kronendal Primary, is doing the hands-on jobs, where you have to be involved personally onsite, like team meetings, meetings with principals etc. For now, we won’t have stretches which will take more than 3 days and we have internet and WIFI. No problem to work though. I love my work as much as I love cruising. To combine both is absolutely great.

For the rest the NGO is in good hands, with our after-care team, Barbara Heye, who is mentor to a single mother with 3 kids. And as I mentioned before Alene Edson Smith, well known in the valley through her involvement through her own NGO, Serenity, took over the reins at Kronendal Primary from me and is mentor to 5 families in our NGO. We share the lead of UBUNTU for Africa. What I can do, I will do, where personal presence is needed, Alene will be hands on. She will lead the sound and music studio, which will release their first CD soon. Lelo managed to get 2 new volunteers into this project, for marimba and music production. Ricardo will remain taking the lead on Silikamva side and Alene will have a firm look and hand on the project.

After care is just running. Andiswa and her team also get support from Alene. But this team of 5 is just doing what they can do best: love our children and supervise, support, teach them and make sure that they are safe.

Metal Prep + Vinyl Cutter Experimenting + Critical Reflection

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos of the metal preparing process, but the steps are relatively straight forward. First, we smoothed out any rough edges of our aluminium using a green scouring sponge; if there were any particularly sharp edges sticking out, we could also use the metal file. Mine didn’t have that many rough edges, so I only needed the green scouring sponge. Then, once that’s ready, sand one edge of the metal so that you have an appropriate grip, then you can head over to the sink to clean it. To clean the metal, we used a little bit of sugar soap and powder, which adds a little bit of that exfoliating texture that makes it easier to scrub out. The sugar soap is surprisingly gelatinous in texture, so bear that in mind as you pour it out. Then, dry your metal with paper towels and a hair dryer.

My friend Lisa and I decided to experiment with the vinyl cutter and try to familiarize ourselves with the process. We did it onto a piece of aluminium and decided we would each peel away a different part of the vinyl to see what it would like if: the background was exposed to the acid wash (Lisa’s example), vs what it would look like if the background was covered and the letters were exposed (my example). We will definitely try the acid wash next time to see the final results.

I quite enjoyed using the vinyl cutter as it was a piece of technology I have never used before. To use the vinyl cutter, you put the roll in and uncheck the bar on the side of the machine, making sure that the power switch is off the entire time - this is because you can only move the roller wheels when the power is off; you can use the dots on the machine to line up your material. For this one, we just lined up the vinyl edge to edge. Then you clamp it and put the power on, confirming that you placed a roll in; the vinyl cutter machine will then measure the distance (very cool!) for you. Our length was 57cm.

The computer then opens up a program called Flexi10, which I’d never used before - apparently the easiest way to use it is taking the image into Illustrator, doing an image trace, saving it as an EPS, and transferring it to the machine. This would be cool in the future.

We wrote our names and clicked the scalpel tool, which opened two dialogue boxes. The first one isn’t necessary, so you just minimise it - DON’T CLOSE IT because it closes the other box, too. Once you do the appropriate settings (the machine was already set to 57cm because of previous demos), it’s free to send through.

In order to not waste material, we rolled the vinyl back using the cursors. We then clicked the origin button until the screen stopped flashing, then sent our patterns through.

These are the final vinyl cut results.

I feel like it is the kind of machine that will get easier to use with time; for now, I’m pleased with what Lisa and I achieved - I’m also super excited to see what it looks like once we place the metal in acid!

I arted...

I have had a toy car sat on my desk for months, an annoying bright orange “lowered” pick up truck and it was crying out for something terrible to happen to it, because it was so horribly ugly.

When I finally worked out what I wanted to do, I had to start planning some serious science, because my plans were rather drastic. First up, I drilled out the rivets that hold the car together and removed the base and insides. With just the shell left, I attacked it with a Dremel, trying to create damage that would look like dents and rust. However, toy cars are made from an alloy of Zinc and Aluminium called Zamac, which tends to be shiny and difficult to attach paint to properly. To counter this and to take off the sharp edges of the Dremel marks, I then dumped it into a salt water bath and began the slow fun process of electrical etching.

The process took about ninety minutes and left the shiny Zamac a very dark grey, the pitting and cutting on the metal had softened nicely and when wiped down, it looked exactly like I wanted it to. For paint I went with the usual browns, dark reds, oranges and yellows as a base, so that it would look rusty, battered and rotten. My final trick was to add real rust. Obviously Zamac does not corrode in the same way as steel, so I found a rusty steel pipe and sanded it down, saving the rust dust. Using PVA as a base, I painted the car with the rust and waited for it to bloom, which took only a couple of hours.

With the shell done, I turned my attention to the plastic box that makes the windscreen and using a scalpel, I etched a cracked window and cut away one of the side windows. I used a black wash to add dirt to the windows and outline the cracks. Next was the base, where I painted the wheels to look dirty and muddy and painted rust on to the bumper and front grill. Using the scalpel again, I cut out the four tiny headlights and filed them to shape, but this was for a plan later on in the build.

The flat bed of the truck was empty and to my mind it needed some cargo, something suitable for a person surviving the end of society as we know it. To this end, I carved a small piece of wood to look like an oil barrel and made a small box out of card and covered it with a sheet of tissue to look like a tarp draped across the stuff.

I wanted the scene to tell a story, a story of decay and failure of society, a sort of gentle Mad Max scene, if you will. I made the shell of the hut from cardboard, recycled from an Amazon delivery and then cut planks which I glued on to the walls. The roof was made in a similar way, but with a star shaped hole cut in one side. Covering the roof with more planking made the hole look more real and three dimensional, especially by fraying the cut ends of the broken planks with a scalpel. Plastic shards from some packaging made a great broken window and door glass. Paint was easy, starting with dark wooden tones and slowly fading it out to the bleached grey-brown of old sun scorched wood.

The base plate was an off cut of scrap plywood and I carved out the wheel ruts and drilled the holes for the wiring for the fun part of the model. With it all painted up, it was time for assembly and wiring. The little truck was the hardest part because I needed to fit the LED under the bonnet and illuminate the head lights and then fit it to the base plate. The hut was illuminated with another flickering LED and gave a place to hide the battery and power switch. I used twigs from the garden to make trees and salvaged hair from my hair brush to cut into tufts of dying or dead grass around one of the dead trees. Finally, I switched it on and sat back to inspect my work.

Cafe Anticene, Tokyo 3 - hotel stories

On the morning of the third day they start walking south east again. With the intention of approaching the safe house from the east. Walking is not for those in hurry. Putting one foot in front of the other is the simplest form of movement. When walkers travel together, meeting other walkers there is no result, no time: the walkers may speak to one another, walker a speaking with walker b, the noise disrupting the flow of information. Even for as simple a communication as walkers mentioning the best path for viewing the city, what can be seen on this corner or that street. But they are not in a hurry, for they cannot arrive at the safe house too early. They must hide in the midday crowds and observe the safe house from a safe distance, to see if the building is secure. Hence after leaving the Hotel they are meandering through the streets, crowds, small parks as they walk towards their destination.

[Magrid is briefing Kenzo and Hasimon after the late afternoon crisis meeting, it’s nearly 7 in the evening]

The saleswoman wonders about these slightly tired looking people, at the man who has bought this woman such a necklace, at her smile as she fastened it around her neck in the mirror,the happiness on her face as she puts the studs in. The Cafe Anticene aka H&H is on the opposite side of the road from the safe house. There is a ground floor ad a large basement. They arrive in the late morning around eleven-thirty and occupy a table to the far right of the cafe, in the shade with a good view of the front of the house. The cafe has double doors to the left, they are on air hinges which open both inwards and outwards. The doors automatically close in soft swish. There is a step upwards onto a dark wooden suspended floor. Inside the vacant space beneath the floor is power and network cabling for the points around the walls. The tables were a mixture of circular tables with a single aluminium support column with five aluminium legs that emerge from the bottom with black disk feet that stand on the floor. The table tops are of white melamine with a black plastic protector pm the edge. The larger rectangular tables were of wood with four legs, one in each corner. The chairs varied in styles. Lights hang down over the tables on white cables. The ones they sat on were Fritz Hanson plywood chairs with arms. Some of the other chairs are made of plywood on black tubular metal frames, the backs are slightly curved whilst the seats are flat and ungiving.

After a hour sipping coffee and tea, eating bowls of cut up fruit with an unrecognizable strange white creamy substance. They are almost invisible in the cafe, talking about nothing in particular, looking at each other and the street, occasionally looking at the other people in the cafe. Watching, becoming closer exchanging atoms and nanoparticles as they speak, infecting one another with viruses. The bacteria of growing affection being breathed in. Only the woman server notices them, initially looking at the necklace rather than the woman's face. Only noticing how cautiously they looked afterwards. They discuss how long they should wait, a little longer she says. They talk quietly about her tattoos, the one on her back and the other on her arm and their meaning. The woman goes to the toilet, washes her hands, rinses her face applying some lipstick and eyeshadow, she doesn't really know why and listens. He tells him he is from London. And smiles that they are visiting her parents and brother. We are exploring Tokyo for a few days... (This innocent, idle conversation will follow the gangster for years. Causing his subordinates and boss to laugh at him, whilst also telling him that he is the luckiest person in Tokyo. From this moment on people will always like working with him.) The gangsters loosely fitting black suit jacket doesn't quite hide the gun under his left shoulder. He asks the tourist whether he is liking Tokyo. It is lovely, he says though the family is difficult. Politics of families, he says. Hence the exploring. Beginning to lose interest. He looks out he sees a tall woman on a mobile phone talking and assumes its her. What sort of exploring, or we are just driftworking around. He doesn't let the gangster escape by continuing and saying to him that her father and mother were very shocked when she adopted me... It was all very accidental. Even her brother disapproves of us really. The gangster wonders at the strangeness of the words he is speaking. It must be difficult... I understand them of course, It must be strange when your daughter visits with her alien husband. […] At an adjacent table a young man and woman are sitting together with a push chair between them and a young sleeping baby. They are eating buns, drinking fruit smoothies and looking guilty.

She started smiling at the idea of wife, and had to suppress her unusual desire to laugh. She peered through the gap in the doorway, vaguely recognized the gangster from meetings. The stairs are almost two metres across with wooden handrails on both sides. The lighting in the basement was provided by six retro multifilament lamps hanging from black cables from the ceiling and a similar number of shaded wall lamps. There were half a dozen tables in the basement arranged in two rows. Only a few of the tables had customers, small groups of workers using laptops and discussing finance and projects dates. The walls were painted in a base of pale blue, pictures hanging on the walls. The first clock on the wall was stopped at 6.30. The second showed the time in Argentina. There was no way to tell night from day in the basement. They looked up and watched as they walked through the basement and walked to the far end where there was a metal staircase that led up to a fire exit. They walked out into the sunlight on the service road behind the cafe and turned to the left walking side by side towards the exit into the main street. Three men in black slightly ill-fitting suits walked round the corner fifteen metres ahead. The first of the men recognized her and began to reach and pull out his gun the second began to follow his lead. The third looked bewildered.The alleyway had a smooth light grey concrete surface with a slightly ridged surface. Recycling, composting and waste bins lined up besides entrances. [This is particularly fascinating. Whoever he is we can see he has no idea how to fight. Look at how they try and shoot him first...]

So tell them to leave me alone, i am busy thinking about it. They followed the concrete service road down and to the right on Ten-gat.

[Magrid handed the transcript and a photo of her speaking to him. The man standing an looking at her.
