irt poverty/homelessness + alcohol use (esp with @butchfeygela‘s tags on my post)- people really underestimate the function that substance use/alcohol use can have for someone who is unhoused. being unhoused is boring, cold, painful, + lonely. substances can allow the 8 hours panhandling to get the $45 you need for a motel to fly by. alcohol reduces your perception of the cold + can knock you out whben you can’t sleep. substances can help you cope with the physical deterioration from malnutrition, constant stress, + sleeping outside. substances can provide social connection with others who you would otherwise not enjoy or help you cope with being alone.

not only that but- many unhoused people are stuck in a seemingly inescapable position. the pathway to financial stability or even housing is difficult or even impossible. in the wake of that hopelessness, the downsides of substance use start to seem insignificant. arrest? you’re getting arrested anyway for sleeping outside, peeing outside, standing in the wrong place, etc. physical danger? you’re already beat the fuck up, anyway, right? loss of relationships? you’ve lost most people already. inability to keep a job? nobody will hire you + you can’t stay employed, anyway, because you have no car + no shower.

perhaps for you or me, the cons of heroin use or binge drinking nightly greatly outweigh the pros. that isn’t the case for everyone. if we are really serious about ending overdose/addiction, we need to start looking at giving people lives worth recovering into instead of shaming them for their own hopelessness.

I think the only 'conspiracy theory' about season 8 that holds any water is that they had originally killed off Ezor only to hurriedly write her back in after the backlash they got for killing off Adam. Like. In 'Genesis' when Zethrid and her Olkari tech escape from the cell to help the Atlas crew, Ezor is with them, but they never acknowledge her presence at all.

I'm going to go with the interpretation that this is foreshadowing about Unity in the next series, which suggests that she is still very much apart of Rick's affections. I can't say I'm thrilled about it, considering how dysfunctional they are and that she clearly has no trouble hurting him-but it does make it very clear that he still had affection for this whole time despite how deeply she's heard him had despite how dry and disdainful he was towards her in this season's episode with her. Especially with that regretful look that he had on his face at the end of the episode when Unity said she didn't trust him-

It makes me feel so bittersweet about the way that Rick responds to Unity in season 7-in the sense that he talks to her with an incredibly cold demeanor both with action and with word, but the second that there's even the slightest chance for reconciliation he has a soppy look on his face- almost naive to a degree. ❤️

it is so difficult for me to write within yoko taro works without it being super compliant because of how they’re written steeped in tragedy that i’m like what would i want to say outside of the relationships established. like i love the drakenier universe but usually when i think about writing its this longing to see something more or something beyond it. the most i can do that with is mikhail but even then i know his epilogue journals give me a conclusion within this series of works that i kinda of expected which is death and the longing to join your lost loved ones beyond.

Don’t get me wrong theyre really well written but its also super contained within that frame of time, it feels inevitable even when it strays into alternative branches and singularities because its usually ends so much more worse or if something does work out it comes at the highest price one can pay for defying fate and the gods; the monkey paw of yoko taro works.

i also like can’t imagine directing these characters away from the choices they make or some sort of alternative because alot of the time "They think they’re right" and or any other option they don’t make, everything becomes much much worse for everyone involved. and you know what that works for these works as a whole I wouldn’t change anything about that because thats usually what makes these stories work so well by asking questions and presenting a situation that’s subversive or challenges the status quo of what video games and characters are suppose to be and i find that really human but in my writer’s brain i go FUCK how do i do this without taking away what makes them what i love. stubborn assholes who try to do what they think is the right thing to do....

closest i’ve gotten to writing something with it is putting them in FFXIV universe because yes events could happen they way they inevitably do but i have way more options to play with or forces that can interfere with the way the wheel turns. singularities. Dark Apocalypse does give alot of room to breathe despite it being. Like that.

americans are so good at making food items we cant get here look so much better than they are. like how well-known nyc pizza is, or how iconic kraft mac n cheese is, or hot pockets or the major fast food chains that are so famous i know about them and their twitter accounts even tho we dont have them in my country. then i went to the us and all the food was profoundly mediocre. like ngl im still a little disappointed about that fucking kraft mac n cheese cause you guys REALLY hyped it up as this nostalgic staple you loved growing up and then it tasted so bland and pathetic

Not to be cringe on main but i did put together a little amazon wishlist for some things we want/need for the apartment.
