The Collin County Sheriff’s Office says an improvised explosive device was found in a cemetery Thursday.
According to a post on Facebook by the sheriff's office, deputies were called about a possible pipe bomb found at Scott Cemetery off County Road 161/Ridge Road, north of Wilmeth Road in McKinney. The sheriff's office told NBC 5 the caller said he spotted the device at the cemetery last week and reported it Thursday morning.
Larry Hankey says he first spotted the object during a visit Saturday to the cemetery where his late parents and wife are buried.
"I saw something on the ground so I kind of kicked it with my foot. I didn't kick it hard. I just nudged it with my foot," Hankey told NBC 5. "Then I said, 'I ain't gonna pick it up', so I just left it there."
He left the cemetery Saturday then says he decided to report the object, described as a cylinder wrapped in black tape, after reading an FBI alert encouraging the public to report anything suspicious over the holidays.
"I should've called it in earlier," said Hankey.
Deputies arrived around at the cemetery at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday and secured the area.
The sheriff's department said the Plano Police Department's bomb squad was called in to assist and that they determined that, "the object was, in fact, an improvised explosive device."
The Plano bomb squad safely disposed of the device.
Neighbors say they felt a concussion inside their homes when it happened.
"It doesn't make any sense. Why would there be a pipe bomb in a cemetery in a great neighborhood," said Jim Thomas who lives in a nearby neighborhood.
"Our sincere appreciation to the Plano Texas Police Department Bomb Squad for their rapid and effective response," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
When NBC 5 crews arrived, investigators were searching an area underneath a tree along the cemetery's west fence. Investigators, including ATF agents, were seen handling what looked like nails.
NBC 5 reached out to the sheriff's office for more information and they said at this point in the investigation they have nothing more to share. No further information has been released about the device or who may have built it or left it in the cemetery.
"I don't know why it would be in a cemetery. That's mighty odd," said Hankey.
The sheriff's office said there is no indication of any further danger to the public.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been called to assist with the investigation.
Scott Cemetery is a Texas Historical Site which dates back to the 1850's.

Bella (dog) had a bit of an adventure today and dragged me along with her.
So, she gets fed around 6:30 and after dinner, she goes out to the backyard to do doggy things. With the high winds we've been having, we have some board in the fence down. That's fine, she can't get through them.
OR SO I THOUGHT.
The neighbors have dogs. Bella (dog) is a friendly dog. So she goes over to say hi. AND JUMPS THROUGH THE DAMN FENCE. Fortunately, I was nearby because I didn't fucking trust her near the fence so I poked my head through.
To understand some things: there is a space large enough between the neighbor's fence and our fence that is populated by trees. And vines. And things like that. Just large enough for a dog or a person to pop through but not enough for them to stand next to each other. The city of Plano, in its infinite wisdom, put barbwire between two tree trunks to stop people off the street from coming into that small space.
I'm not panicking yet, no, because Bella (dog) cannot get through the barbwire.
And then the neighbor's dogs run to the end of their yard (which is beyond the barbwire) and Bella. Jumps. Through.
I flew through the hole in the fence and my arm was through that barbwire and boy oh boy did I scruff her.
Now I have A Dilemma. The house is on my side of the of the barbwire but on the other side of the fence. The dog (and my arm) are on the other side of the barbwire. And the street. Where there are Cars. Because it is Rush Hour.
I try to get Bella (dog) through the barbwire but I am suddenly Not Her Favorite Person because I refuse to unscruff her.
So, very carefully, I go through the barbwire. And Bella (dog) and I begin the long walk around the block back to the house. With me hunched over like a little old man out of an anime, holding onto the dog by the scruff of the neck. She tries to shake me off twice so I grab her neck while she does and rescruff her.
About halfway there my back is in agony, my hand is cramping, and my asthmatic wheeze -- that I have not had to deal with in fifteen fucking years -- is in full force. I am not Bella's favorite person right now. She doesn't understand why I'm half dragging her back to the house and away from her New Friends. She doesn't understand why I sound like I'm dying and keep saying things like, "We're almost home, Bella. Just a little longer, Bella."
In the what-feels-like hours it takes us to get back to the house, I have a whole speech planned for when we get in the door. "Bella's safe," I'll say. "She can't go in the backyard without her harness and the lead," I'll say. "She jumped through the hole in the fence," I'll say.
Yeah, none of that happened. I opened the door, drug the dog inside, let go, and slowly sank to the floor, wheezing and gasping and generally looking like a fish out of water.
The roommate who owns the dog comes out of her room and looks at me. "What happened?"
"Bella... hole... fence," I manage. "Had to... drag her... home."
"Are you okay?"
"Asthmatic... wheeze..."
Eventually, my lungs start behaving and I'm able to explain things. Even though she tried to shake me off twice, she pretty much didn't try to fight me on the walk back home, so Bella got cookies.
Then the roommate and I set up the backyard with the lead that gives her most of the yard but not the fence and put her in a harness, where she will stay until the fence is fixed.
So, yeah. Bella got to go on an adventure and now I'm Not Her Favorite Person anymore. I think I'll learn to live with it.

Alam mong tumatanda na nga kayo kapag yung na-reach niyo na yung, adulting dates. For our seventh anniversary, since he went from team building in Laguna, sinundo ko siya from Makati to their venue, & we visited our tentative lot.
Sobrang iba sa pakiramdam na mag-check ng lupa para sa future home. Sobrang gaan sa pakiramdam. Yung naririnig ko siyang,

“Dapat may solar panel tayo kahit medyo mahal para tipid”

Hindi ko alam anong mararamdaman ko pero ang gaan gaan sa pakiramdam at nakakataba sobra ng puso yung marinig at makita yung taong mahal mo na excited mag-build ng future kasama ka. Ang sarap naman tumanda ng ganito. Yung kasama mong punong puno ng plano para sayo, para sa inyo. Yung alam mong safe ang future mo.
Ito yung pinaka-paborito ko ng date sa lahat ng mga dates namin. I know that simula pa lang ito, pero ang saya gawin yung mga firsts kasama siya.
