Grass Valley iconic Art Deco Del Oro Theater is on the selling block the owners of Grass Valley’s Sierra Theaters publicly announced. Grass Valley Sierra Theaters owns both Del Oro Theater and Sutton Cinemas but have provided assurances to the public that both are not closing and will continue to screen films until a buyer is found that continue to bring the movie-going experience to Nevada County at the Del Oro Theater. The Del Oro Theater opened by United Artist in 1942, was renovated in the 1970’s into a triplex expanding to a total of 845 seats, but in the process substantial Art Deco designs and artwork mural were either covered or removed. Still the beautiful old movie house has it’s nostalgia of an era gone by, but like so many businesses, the post pandemic world has proven to be difficult to the families that run the Sierra Theaters group. This image of the 70 foot tower that transports one back in time the golden days of the picture show. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany @kehcamera @mpbcom #usaprimeshot #tamractales @visitcalifornia @visitgrassvalley @nevadacountyca #omd #microfourthirds #micro43 #grassvalleycalifornia #delorotheatre @delorotheatre (at Del Oro Theatre) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoVv7nUvUlr/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Christmas Tree that’s put up under the Washington Square Park Arch annually by the Washington Square Association. The Washington Square Association was the first neighborhood organization in New York City with over 100 years of service to the neighborhood and was the city’s second civic organization after the Municipal Art Society. Washington Square Park is in the heart of Greenwich Village, surrounded by the campus of New York University. It was a very frigid night I took this picture this past December, thus the lack of people in the usually heavy trafficked Washington Square Park which created a nice focus on the Christmas tree itself. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera #omd #microfourthirds #micro43 @nycurbanism @nycprimeshot @nycparks @nybucketlist @wspconservancy #washingtonsquarepark (at Washington Square Park, West Village, NYC) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnhthSKPIoG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Beautiful reflections in some pooled water after some fall rain in Grass Valley as the sun started to set in the western sky for day as I awaited my sweet lady. With my ADHD sitting in cars or at airports or train stations I will wander around and have learned over the years that sometimes interesting picture taking opportunities have presented themselves or sometimes I discover & learn something about an place that I’ve been to that I didn’t know before. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america @apple @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot @nevadacountyca @visitgrassvalley #iphone13pro (at Grass Valley, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CleMOQ2pZ9l/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On the National Register of Historic Places is the Sacramento Southern Pacific Railroad Depot an elegant passenger terminal built in 1925 designed by San Francisco architectural firm Bliss & Faville to replace the third Sacramento railroad depot. A gorgeous structure well preserved and still active for passenger traffic. The interior pictured here is typical of the grand train depots of that era, when train transit was still king as the automobile industry was in its infancy and the toys of the wealthy and aviation was a new weapon for the military. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot @visitsacramento @visitcalifornia @southern.pacific (at Sacramento, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkZFUiQvn0B/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Never forget the events of September 11, 2001 when our passenger airliners were turned into weapons against our own citizens. Always remember those brave souls on Flight 93 who rallied against their terrorist captors and crashed that airliner in Pennsylvania , the brave and selfless who rushed into the burning monoliths we referred to as the Twin Towers whose efforts thwarted and reduced the horrific number of casualties. It import to convey this message to future generations. Another image from last years photo walk with NYC Photographers of the Tribute in Lights taken in Manhattan on the southern gate of City Hall Park. It was at the behest of one of our brilliant organizers Chris because of the converged perspective. Always on point with his suggestions love the resulting image. The first time I went to capture images of the Tribute in Lights, it was still being staged at what then was referred to Ground Zero, internal bickering between NY state, NYC and Silverstein Holdings had delayed the rebuild of the WTC site in actuality nothing emerged from the slurry walled 16 acre pit until 2012 when One World Center’s base finally emerged at street level. Accompanied that my night by my now deceased son age about 9-10 if I recall , we drove to Hoboken, I took some Ektachrome images on my Minolta X-700 film camera with my 70-210 mm F/4 Rokkor MD lens. Sadly the lab that developed my slides from that night ignored the guide pictures I initially took an sliced most of the Tribute in Lights images up, maybe one usable slide on the whole roll. Alex would not really come on many more photo adventures with me as he moved on to Nintendo and his much loved skateboards. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot (at NYC City Hall Plaza) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiYLmqCv0oV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
