Just rewatched the June x Nick scene in 5.09 and June's reaction to Nick saying "I love you" and her saying it back all teary-eyed and VISABLY overwhelmed with emotion.

The emotion on her face when he turns to leave and then when he actually does. LIKE MY GOD.

I really do love June x Nick's brand of "it's requited, they're both just idiots."

These two be all like we love each other so much. And daydream about running away together. So they clearly want to be together but alas *circumstances*

And neither one of them as of yet has taken the leap to change said *circumstances* cause they think it may not be the "best" thing or it isn't the time. Valid but like the best thing would be being true to themselves and what they really want. To be together.

They are in need of a catalyst! I feel one is coming.

Dumb idiots, I tell you. And I love them so much.

Nick so went and pulled a Peeta Mellark with that line of “She doesn’t need me. I’m nothing.” 

When it’s like HONEY, no! That’s just not true. He’s such an important person to June. He’s helped her survive and is a part of why she’s never lost hope. He’s who she arguably feels most at ease with. With the notable exception of her children. And he’s Nichole’s father. 

It’s so sad that he has such a low opinion of himself. That I’ve realized he’s done a very good job of hiding from June. It’s not surprising, it’s definitely been hinted at. It’s still sad. He’s out here punishing himself for getting involved with the SoJ and everything with that. And is working overtime to convince himself that June doesn’t need him now. So that he doesn’t want more. Or think he deserves it. 

The June stan in me is like, yeah June does have a lot of people who love her. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t need/want you in her life, my guy. Cause she does. I really appreciate Tuello’s reply. That was excellent. 

Just thinking about if Nick were to say this to June. I can so hear her, just like Katniss say “I do. I need you.” 

I would so love a moment where she says something to that effect in season 6. In fact, I’m gonna manifest it! 

Something that really stuck out to me with this latest episode was June’s face while Luke was singing. 

She’s looking away, seems very much to be in her internal thoughts and almost looks a little sad. What I got from this is she’s coming to terms with the fact that she and Luke won’t be able to recapture what’s been lost. There won’t be a fairytale ending for them (see what I did there). 

My position for years has been that while June loves Luke, she’s in love with Nick. Which obviously is a major factor here. Also, simply that June has changed. Her priorities have changed. With the exception of being a good mom to her daughters and protecting them. Which is always the number 1 priority for June. She’s changed. This moment once again emphasized all of this for me. 

This isn’t easy. She’s waited for years to be reunited with Luke. She still cares about him and doesn’t want to hurt him. I get why June wants to work on her marriage, she did make a commitment to this person. When it comes down to it, I think June really does know that this isn’t going to go the way Luke hopes it will. He’s clearly terrified the marriage is over. God, it’s so glaringly obvious that he’s holding on way more than she is. 

Sure, June may enjoy little moments, like when they’re dancing there. It’s like she’s softening the blow for both of them in a sense. It’s not where June wants to be or where she’s going. I definitely think this was a sign the relationship as it currently stands is ultimately heading towards closure and resolution.

Kristen Stewart really put into words issues I have with some m/f ships. Where the male characters is "protective" but that protectiveness is more a guise of borderline controlling the female character's actions if not outright trying to control them.

She said "Yeah. I get the sort of protection thing, but you gotta let a girl make her own choices.” THANK YOU.

That's really it! It's that simple. SHE gets to make her own choices. The male character can disagree with her choices. Conflict between characters is great.

Don't let others mess with her! But don't stop her from doing shit that's clearly important to her. Have her back to help her succeed and be there if things go south.
