don't take sidney and mulcahy being so close to the top as a particular endorsement. it's just not very funny or fucked up

spent too long making this the other day to not post it. here u go

the beejpegcahy ill-advised messy unfortunate threesome is not a permanent fixture of the beejcahy -> pegcahy pipeline but if it did happen it would contribute to bj's spiral sooo bad. which is so fun

so imagine bj goes to a gay bar in san francisco after peg suggests it when he says he might be gay and (bear with me here) he runs into mulcahy there who is in town for the night and bj is like um 😳 and they have a drink and get talking and then they kiss and well they go home together to mulcahy's motel room. and then a few weeks or months later they meet at the bar again and in the morning they are talking and catching up and they both miss people from the 4077th and are enjoying the chance to reconnect and bj says hey if you don't have anywhere you need to be today you could come to my place and i'll cook. peg and erin are out for the day. and so they do and then peg and erin come home and are introduced. and it becomes kind of a pattern and erin really likes him and peg thinks it's nice too and bj and mulcahy take erin to the zoo and shit like that and well bj and mulcahy aren't in love or anything like that but mulcahy has kind of become part of the family and its nice and eventually they build a little bungalow out back at bj and peg's place (for appearances sake mostly) and maybe even mulcahy and peg have something going on too. and maybe bj feels a little weird about that but it's fine and they are happy. now imagine if bj gets jealous and can't deal with it and he leaves (awful thing to do and i don't think he would but let's just trust the process here) and maybe goes off to like hawkeye and trapper on the east coast (Not going to solve his problems) and when it's clear he's not coming back mulcahy leaves the priesthood (he's working as a chaplain at a non-denominational school so he keeps his same job) and marries peg. imagine you go to the 4077th reunion and you see mulcahy with a woman on his arm and you say "Hi, Fath......" (descent into silent confusion) and he says "hi this is peg mulcahy :)" and you see bj over at the refreshments table losing his mind.

In Conclusion:

funniest part of the beejcahy -> pegcahy pipeline is that bj and mulcahy don't even really like each other all that much they just accidentally became a happy family and then that was how it was. imagine the problems you have to have for being in basically-a-throuple to become just-sort-of-the-path-of-least-resistance. in nineteen fucking fifties america. i believe in them though i think they could do it

on of my favourite activities is "try very hard to create a believable scenario in which two characters i find interesting who would not end up together or have anything happen between them would end up together or have something happen between them"

tbh most of my unprompted bj thoughts of late have been like him trying to get his shit together and then like being ready to get back in erin's life and like the tension (not sexual) between him and peg and you know who

mulcahy to pegs friends before bj left was a bit like a gay guy who's allowed in the girl group but just without the gay acceptance and he often found he'd rather talk with the wives at a social gathering but then he marries peg and now he's one of the husbands and its silently agreed by everyone that he should hang with them. they're kind of assholes in a group setting though. very unfortunate but he'll be fine he just needs to be friends with gay and bisexual men
