雖然天氣依舊炎熱，但時序漸漸邁入八月中下旬，有些孩子們已經開始上學、還沒開學的孩子們是正準備做收心操，還是努力把握暑假的尾巴好好地大玩特玩呢？ 這週末在Orange County和LA又有許多錯過會可惜的活動，有李子節、日本文化節、長灘BBQ節、洛杉磯TACO節……小編又開始眼花撩亂不知道選哪個活動去好…..趕緊跟小編一起來看看吧！

Plum Festival (8/19)(OC)
橙縣Garden Grove的草莓節才剛過完、換橙縣的Huntington Beach舉辦李子節（Plum Fest）了！從1995年舉辦至今，原是為了讓一位德國移民老太太Elly Schwarzer所做的李子蛋糕「Pflaumenkuchen」那撲鼻的香味、酸甜的味道能被傳承下來，演變至今以發展成在地的嘉年華會之一，現場有各式的李子產品如李子酒、李子果醬、李子薄餅、李子餡餅、以及一些德裔移民製作的傳統小吃等，娛興活動如臉部彩繪、孩童跳跳屋、中古世紀劍術對決、德國傳統民俗舞蹈表演、還有超可愛的臘腸狗跑步競賽！活動免費入場。

Brea Fest (8/17) (OC)
在橙縣最北邊的布雷亞(Brea)本週五將在市政府廣場舉辦第32屆的Brea Fest，活動集結了在地35家美食餐廳和當地知名的藝術單位如Curtis Theatre、Brea Art Gallery等，現場有live music、戲劇表演、畫廊展覽、現場藝術家表演示範和各種兒童免費的活動喔！有興趣的朋友可以去Brea Fest感受一下這個小鎮的魅力！

Harvest Crusade(17-19)(OC)
第29屆「南加州豐收十字軍（Southern California Harvest Crusades）」年會將於本周五至周日於橙縣安納罕天使球場舉行，並由全球知名的加州牧師暨福音佈道家葛雷格．羅利(Greg Laurie)主持。Socal Harvest Crusades 可說是美國巨型教會之一，並名列「全美最具影響力教會」，據了解至今全球已有逾890萬人親自參與該事工，其中有高達51萬人歸信基督。 年會由基督徒廣邀家人、同工和親友們與會，邀請基督教音樂家們演奏聖樂，同時由Greg Laurie傳遞福音訊息，帶領大家省思「What is the meaning of life？」、「What happens when we die?」….現場將會有上萬人受洗歸信基督。

Long Beach BBQ Festival(8/17-19)(LA)
在南加，夏日週末最常見的活動不外乎三五好友聚集來個烤肉趴， 不過當這個看似難度不高的烤肉趴、當連續舉辦個三天、並請來屢獲殊榮的國家燒烤大師現場比拼，這是不是就不容易了呢？您難道不會想來一嚐究竟嗎？洛杉磯的長灘市在這週末舉辦的Long Beach BBQ Festival 活動規劃的相當豐富，除了有吃不完的燒烤美食如烤豬肋排、烤雞、烤香腸等、也有許多烤肉類的美食攤位，現場除了live band、手工藝展區、臉部彩繪、藝術氣球外，還有喜劇魔術秀、爬蟲動物如蛇啊蜥蜴的互動區、針對小朋友的話還有petting zoo、跳跳床和其他遊戲tents的設計。現場還請來有獲獎的國家級 BBQ pitmasters和長灘當地的Grillers比劃、看誰對火候和食材的掌握最厲害烤出來的肉最獲大家喜愛。趕緊趁這週末來去長灘湊個熱鬧吧！

Nisei Week Japanese Festival(8/18-19)(LA)
洛杉磯一年一度的日本夏日祭Nisei Week這週將繼續進行，並於週日劃下精彩句點。這個活動一連進行九天，被公認為是美國舉辦日期最長的族群慶典之一。今年已經來到第78屆的夏日祭慶典，一樣將洛城的數個南加日裔社團集結起來，帶來了各種日本傳統文化特色的演出，譬如在Japanese American Cultural & Community Center（JACCC）就將舉辦整天的慶典，日本花藝展、日本茶道示範、日本織布及手工藝展示等，晚上還有日本街頭小吃，如烤魷魚丶大阪燒丶銅鑼燒等。另外還有日本小姐選美暨加冕儀式、吃餃子大賽、街頭太鼓表演丶相撲比賽及武術表演等，詳細活動時間表與地址請到官網查詢。

L.A. Taco Festival (8/18)(LA)
在南加想要吃到墨西哥美食Taco一點都不困難，但是要一口氣吃到30多家道地的墨西哥Taco可就沒這麼容易了喔！L.A. Taco Festival 將於本週六於Grand Park 舉行，從中午 12 一直到晚上 8 時，多家美食餐車將為大家提供各式各樣的墨西哥捲餅，當中包括 Kogi BBQ、EpicTacos、Thai-Mex Cocina、Izzys Taco House 與 Monster Tacos 等等。除了Taco美食外，當然還會有熱情的墨西哥音樂表演來助興炒熱氣氛，也會有許多手工藝攤位讓民眾可以邊吃邊逛。活動收益將捐贈給 Homeless Youth非營利組織，來幫助無家可歸的青少年。

巨齒鯊 The Meg
一艘屬於國際海底觀測計劃的深海潛艇遭受一隻大型怪獸的攻擊，那是一種原本認為已經絕種的動物。這艘破損的潛艇掉落在太平洋最深的海溝底下，人員被困在裡面。隨時黃金救援期限逼近，一名有遠見的中國海洋學家招募了深海救援潛水專家喬納斯泰勒，不顧女兒的反對，決定要拯救這群潛艇人員，同時也要拯救這片海洋，以阻止這個勢不可擋的威脅，也就是一隻名為巨齒鯊（Megalodon）的75呎長史前鯊魚。喬納斯冒著生命危險搶救困在海底的所有人，讓自己再次面對這隻史上最巨大、最強大的掠食動物。

Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach(7/5-9/1)(OC)
橙縣藝術重鎮Laguna Beach除了夏季鋸屑藝術節，第八十六屆拉古娜海灘藝術節(86th Annual Festival of Arts Fine Art Show)也是眾所矚目的活動。作為全美最古老、最受好評的藝術展之一，自1932年以來，成千上萬的藝術家在藝術節上展示和銷售他們的作品。今年藝術界一如往常，將展示橙縣在地逾140位成熟和新興藝術家的原創作品，包括陶瓷、玻璃、繪畫、珠寶、混合媒材、攝影、版畫、雕塑和木材等。同時，還有國際級藝術家如韓國Pil Ho Lee、墨西哥Hugo Rivera、義大利Luciano Bortone、南非Carla Bosch、保加利亞Jordan Dimitov、日本Mariko Ishii、俄羅斯Yuri Kuznetsov和中國Ryang Yoon等藝術家的作品展示，在整個活動期間還會有夜間音樂會、爵士音樂會、巧克力和葡萄酒的pairings，一整天的活動包括Festival Runway、時裝秀和family art day等，詳細日程請上官網。

The Pageant of the Masters(7/7-9/1)(OC)
在橙縣藝術氣息濃厚的Laguna Beach 在暑假都會舉辦讓人嘖嘖稱奇、號稱為「 活畫作」(living pictures) 的「Pageant of the Masters」藝術活動，是一個請真人模擬演出古今中外著名的畫作的表演秀，不論是中古歐洲古典畫或是當代新興藝術家的創作，都由表演藝術工作者上了極為擬真的舞台妝和造型演出，演出前置作業相當繁複，而整齣秀會由一個說書人在現場管弦樂團的優雅樂聲中、為大家解說舞台上一幕幕的活畫作，把大家熟悉的世界名畫演出來！相當另類特別且難忘！雖然表演期間長達兩個月、幾乎每晚都在 Irvine Bowl上演、但吸引了全球各地的藝術愛好者前往欣賞，仍是相當一票難求。
今年的主題是「Under the sun」，頌揚在20世紀初期，在Laguna Beach新一代的印象派畫家和藝術家們在戶外畫下自己眼中的自然美景的故事。 今年適逢「Pageant of the Masters」八十五週年和Laguna Art Museum的百年慶，購買Pageant of the Masters的門票將可無限制地在暑假參訪整個Festival of Arts Fine Art Show，所以非常划算，有興趣的朋友們請快上網站買票囉！

Summer Sawdust Art & Craft Festival(6/29-9/2)(OC)
講到橙縣的Laguna Beach就不可不提到這個在藝術界裡頂頂有名的Sawdust Art & Craft Festival 夏季鋸屑藝術節！這個藝術慶典從1966年開始舉辦、至今超過半個世紀，已成為南加藝術愛好者們、收藏家、新銳藝術家的年度盛事，每到暑假都會有長達兩個月的藝術活動、讓超過 200 位學有專功的藝術家們齊聚一堂，藝術品形式從繪畫、首飾製作、陶瓷、服裝皮件、木雕金雕石雕到攝影等，都可以在鋸屑藝術節挖到寶。而且這個藝術節在每周五和周六的早上時段，有開設各式各樣的藝術課程喔～！趕緊來Laguna Beach 這小鎮感受一下夏日海濱的這個藝術盛會，讓自己也藝術一夏吧！

Little Saigon Night Market(6/15-9/2)(OC)
橙縣的 Westminster 被稱為「小西貢」，而這個小西貢每年夏天最熱鬧的活動就是在Asian Garden Mall的停車場舉辦的小西貢夜市！這個夜市以東南亞特色為主，在這裡可以嚐到許多特色美味，像是海螺、越南春卷、越南蛋餅、西米露等。除了東南亞美食外，也有東南亞音樂表演、越南傳統服飾、小童玩傳統遊戲等。小西貢週末夜市會持續舉辦至暑假結束(9/2)。

Griffith Park Shakespeare Festival (6/30-9/2)(LA)
Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival 是洛杉磯大型的免費莎士比亞歌劇表演節，這是由Independent Shakespeare Co. 這個表演團體所主辦，在2003年的第一場表演只有14人和1隻狗觀賞，但到了2009年在Barnsdall Park舉辦時已經有12000名觀眾；2010年移至Griffith Park、而至2016年觀眾超過47000人! 目前這個Shakespeare Festival已經不只是讓更多人認識莎士比亞經典作品，更是在地藝術工作者的重要交流場合，對舞台表演有興趣的朋友還可以參與戲劇前的pre-show workshops，而且完全免費！今年夏季將會上演A Midsummer Night’s Dream 與 Titus Andronicus 這兩部莎士比亞的經典歌劇作品，活動從六月份持續到九月份，歌劇愛好者請帶上薄毯、野餐墊或海灘椅，到Griffith Park享受這個難得的表演盛會喔～！

Odd Nights at the Autry (Apr- Oct)(LA)
Odd Nights at the Autry 是一個 L.A. 的在地夜市，從1991年以來為了支持在地藝術家和dreamers所發起的藝術兼美食市集，從4月至10月於每個月的第三個星期五舉辦，活動當日會有超過 70 個攤位出售不同種類的商品，如手工飾品、家飾、二手物拍賣等，現場也會有20餘輛美食餐車、也會有kids fun zone如跳跳屋和攀岩牆等，讓全家可以悠閒的吃吃喝喝逛街壓馬路～！

King Tut in LA (3/24-Jan 2019)(LA)
埃及最有名的法老圖坦卡門（King Tut）來到南加州囉～！號稱在埃及境外最大的古墓文物展「圖坦卡門：黃金法老珍寶」（King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh)，在洛杉磯市中心的加州科學中心展出。此次展出超過150件工藝品，遠高於過去一般展覽50件的限制。主辦單位表示，展覽將展出Boy King所使用和擁有的東西，像是黃金首飾、雕刻，雕塑和古物。此次展出的文物大約40％是第一也是最後一次離開埃及喔！展出完畢將返回到埃及，未來在正在建設的大埃及博物館（Grand Egyptian Museum） 做永久展示。所以說機會難得，趕快去買票喔～

Going abroad isn’t always possible, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on experiencing new foods, exciting music, or on exploring different cultures.
Living in Southern California, I don’t have to go far to get a taste of what it might be like to visit Greece, Romania, or Lebanon. Various international festivals are held across Southern California throughout the year. This means that if I want to experience la dolce vita Italian-style, try out German beers, or indulge in different street foods, there are plenty of opportunities each month to do just that.

626 Night Market – Arcadia, CA

The 626 Night Market is an Asian-inspired night market. The vendors include a mix of food, crafts, merchandise, art, games, music, and more and the event sees as many as tens of thousands of attendees. It’s held at Santa Anita Park (a racecourse).

Held at St. John’s church in Anaheim, California is the OC Greek Fest. It’s both your standard pop-up fairgrounds (they have small rides and arcades), but with a Greek flair. The featured foods include everything from Loukoumades to Gyros, Baklava to Feta Fries.

The Little Saigon Night Market is a Vietnamese-inspired night market held at the Asian Garden Mall in Westminster. The event is small, but the foods and entertainment at the event make it feel much larger. I definitely recommend the cakes and sugarcane drinks!

Art F City: This Week’s Must-See Art Events: Artists Take Over Your Landline
Every summer there’s a gallery that finds an occasion to launch a cat show, and this season is no different. Start the week off at Con Artist Collective, which will host a show demonstrating artists love for kitties. Consider that show a warm up for what’s to come. Thursday in Gowanus, we’ll see what happens when artists are given access to a treasure trove discarded electronics. We can’t wait. On Friday, head out to this week’s latest artist zine festival and wrap the week up Sunday with the 25 anniversary of Queens Pride at the Queens Museum. It’s a one day pop-up exhibition looking at the history of the event and bound to be both informative and joyful.

In a warehouse in Brooklyn, there’s a graveyard of consumer electronics. A project of the Lower East Side Ecology Center, the Gowanus E-Waste Warehouse remains one of the few places in the city to safely dispose of everything from obsolete iPhones to cracked TVs—for free!
Monument, a one-night pop-up organized by Yazmine Mihojevich and Penelope Umbrico, gives artists access to this treasure trove of one-man’s-junk for experimental electronic projects. Imagine archaic video or malfunctioning music equipment repurposed for site-specific interventions.
These artists include: Constant Dullaart, Motoko Fukuyama, Elana Herzog, Faith Holland, Charles Sainty, Jean Shin, and Penelope Umbrico.
The band Das Audit (Eve Essex, Craig Kalpakjian) will be on hand making music with electronic setups improvised from the heap, along with guests and an open mic opportunity. This should be a lot of fun.

First Look: Jordan Wolfson
There are few artists whose practice is as currently divisive as Jordan Wolfson. Some claim his experiments with the uncanny valley are genius. Paddy found his violent work in this year’s Whitney Biennial nearly impossible to watch. Whatever one’s feelings about Wolfson, there’s no denying that he’s brought a sense of the visceral and primal to the world of new media—from experiments with androids to virtual reality—and that’s something rare in the genre.
It makes sense, then, that Rhizome and the New Museum would pick Wolfson as their current “First Look” digital artist. Here, they’ll be screening three of the artist’s recent video works, followed by a talk with Aria Dean, Assistant Curator of Net Art and Digital Culture at Rhizome. The two will “discuss the artist’s relationship to technology, masculinity, and the spectacularization and banalization of violence in his work and in contemporary culture.” Sounds heady, but given what we know about Wolfson’s practice, will likely be a wild ride.

Rock Paper Scissors and a Three-Armed Shovel 7th Annual Zine and Self-Published Photo Book Fair
A few weeks ago I think I remarked that unlike art fairs, the world can not have enough zine and artist-book fests. I might be changing my mind, as there’s now one seemingly every weekend. Nevertheless, this one is a must-see, because like the Brown Paper fest I attended in Baltimore, it focuses on artists of color—who are inexplicably, erroneously absent from the stereotypical popular image of zine nerd culture.

The Korshak Collection: Illustrations Of Imaginative Literature
Speaking of nerd culture, we can’t wait to geek out about this one. The Korshak Collection contains decades of fantasy and sci-fi paperback illustrations. These are some of the trippiest images produced in all of the 20th Century, but they rarely receive serious critical attention. It’s good to see that changing.

The Silk Web the False Tower
In this show, two New York-based artists, Carlos Jaramillo and Tamara Santibañez, consider incarceration globally and at home. Jaramillo’s recent photographs were taken while visiting communities living around prisons in Peru, while Santibañez makes works inspired by discussions about tattoos she has conducted at Riker’s Island. These inform sculptures made from pedestrian personal effects. Expect this one to be a tear-jerker.

Queens Pride 25 Anniversary Celebration
Queens Pride started in Jackson Heights in 1990 in response to the homophobic murder of Julio Rivera. 25 years later, a lot of progress has been made. This one-day pop-up exhibition looks at the history of the festival through ephemera, documentation, and a panel discussion.
The documentary Julio of Jackson Heights (Dir. Richard Shpuntoff, 2016, 90min) will also be screened at 12:45 and followed by a talk.

Gardena Obon Festival (8/11-12)(LA)
Obon Festival是佛教中的重要節日，佛教徒用來表達遙祭祖先、追悼先人之意，而由於盂蘭盆節時間剛好與中元節重疊，又稱為「魂祭」或「燈籠節」，可以說是新年之外的第二大節日。而擁有眾多日本移民的洛杉磯，這週末就將在Gardena Buddhist Church舉辦Gardena Obon Festival 盂蘭盆節夏日祭典，這可說是每年南加夏天最大型的日本祭典活動之一。

Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach(7/5-9/1)(OC)

The Pageant of the Masters(7/7-9/1)(OC)
在橙縣藝術氣息濃厚的Laguna Beach 在暑假都會舉辦讓人嘖嘖稱奇、號稱為「 活畫作」(living pictures) 的「Pageant of the Masters」藝術活動，是一個請真人模擬演出古今中外著名的畫作的表演秀，不論是中古歐洲古典畫或是當代新興藝術家的創作，都由表演藝術工作者上了極為擬真的舞台妝和造型演出，演出前置作業相當繁複，而整齣秀會由一個說書人在現場管弦樂團的優雅樂聲中、為大家解說舞台上一幕幕的活畫作，把大家熟悉的世界名畫演出來！相當另類特別且難忘！雖然表演期間長達兩個月、幾乎每晚都在 Irvine Bowl上演、但吸引了全球各地的藝術愛好者前往欣賞，仍是相當一票難求。

講到橙縣的Laguna Beach就不可不提到這個在藝術界裡頂頂有名的Sawdust Art & Craft Festival 夏季鋸屑藝術節！這個藝術慶典從1966年開始舉辦、至今超過半個世紀，已成為南加藝術愛好者們、收藏家、新銳藝術家的年度盛事，每到暑假都會有長達兩個月的藝術活動、讓超過 200 位學有專功的藝術家們齊聚一堂，藝術品形式從繪畫、首飾製作、陶瓷、服裝皮件、木雕金雕石雕到攝影等，都可以在鋸屑藝術節挖到寶。而且這個藝術節在每周五和周六的早上時段，有開設各式各樣的藝術課程喔～！趕緊來Laguna Beach 這小鎮感受一下夏日海濱的這個藝術盛會，讓自己也藝術一夏吧！

橙縣的 Westminster 被稱為「小西貢」，而這個小西貢每年夏天最熱鬧的活動就是在Asian Garden Mall的停車場舉辦的小西貢夜市！這個夜市以東南亞特色為主，在這裡可以嚐到許多特色美味，像是海螺、越南春卷、越南蛋餅、西米露等。除了東南亞美食外，也有東南亞音樂表演、越南傳統服飾、小童玩傳統遊戲等。小西貢週末夜市會持續舉辦至暑假結束(9/2)。

Griffith Park Shakespeare Festival (6/30-9/2)(LA)
Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival 是洛杉磯大型的免費莎士比亞歌劇表演節，這是由Independent Shakespeare Co. 這個表演團體所主辦，在2003年的第一場表演只有14人和1隻狗觀賞，但到了2009年在Barnsdall Park舉辦時已經有12000名觀眾；2010年移至Griffith Park、而至2016年觀眾超過47000人! 目前這個Shakespeare Festival已經不只是讓更多人認識莎士比亞經典作品，更是在地藝術工作者的重要交流場合，對舞台表演有興趣的朋友還可以參與戲劇前的pre-show workshops，而且完全免費！今年夏季將會上演A Midsummer Night’s Dream 與 Titus Andronicus 這兩部莎士比亞的經典歌劇作品，活動從六月份持續到九月份，歌劇愛好者請帶上薄毯、野餐墊或海灘椅，到Griffith Park享受這個難得的表演盛會喔～！

Odd Nights at the Autry (Apr- Oct)(LA)
Odd Nights at the Autry 是一個 L.A. 的在地夜市，從1991年以來為了支持在地藝術家和dreamers所發起的藝術兼美食市集，從4月至10月於每個月的第三個星期五舉辦，活動當日會有超過 70 個攤位出售不同種類的商品，如手工飾品、家飾、二手物拍賣等，現場也會有20餘輛美食餐車、也會有kids fun zone如跳跳屋和攀岩牆等，讓全家可以悠閒的吃吃喝喝逛街壓馬路～！

票價：$5（12歲以下兒童免費入場）

King Tut in LA (3/24-Jan 2019)(LA)
埃及最有名的法老圖坦卡門（King Tut）來到南加州囉～！號稱在埃及境外最大的古墓文物展「圖坦卡門：黃金法老珍寶」（King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh)，在洛杉磯市中心的加州科學中心展出。此次展出超過150件工藝品，遠高於過去一般展覽50件的限制。主辦單位表示，展覽將展出Boy King所使用和擁有的東西，像是黃金首飾、雕刻，雕塑和古物。此次展出的文物大約40％是第一也是最後一次離開埃及喔！展出完畢將返回到埃及，未來在正在建設的大埃及博物館（Grand Egyptian Museum） 做永久展示。所以說機會難得，趕快去買票喔～
