I discovered Titan Books last year and they publish excellent book, some of them are favorite. This is the review of a selection of recent titles I read

Dark Stars by John FD Taff

New Tales of Darkest Horror Created as an homage to the 1980 classic horror anthology, Dark Forces, this collection showcases today’s top horror talent edited by John F.D. Taff. Within these pages you’ll find tales of dead men walking, an insidious secret summer fling, an island harbouring unspeakable power, and a dark hallway that beckons. You’ll encounter terrible monsters—both human and supernatural—and be forever changed. These stories run the gamut from traditional to modern, from dark fantasy to neo-noir, from explorations of beloved horror tropes to the unknown—possibly unknowable—threats.

My Review (4,5/5*) I didn’t know all the author feature in this anthology by Stephen Graham Jones and Ramsey Campbell were enough to know it was an interesting anthology. I got more than I bargained because I loved the short stories by the author I knew but discovered some new to me author. Not all the stories are at the same level but there’s a lot of different tropes and twists to make it a gripping read. Recommended.

Dawnshard by Brandon Sanderson (The Stormlight Archive #3.5)

Knights who fly too near find their magic suddenly drained, so the voyage must be by sea. My Review (5*) I know that reading a book in the middle of a series it’s a bit deprecated but I loved the plot and couldn’t stop myself from requesting this arc. It was a good idea because I enjoyed the plot and discovered a new lovely series and I have to read plenty of old and new books. Sanderson is an excellent storyteller and this story is fast paced and action packed. Great world building and interesting characters. It’s not a long novel (according to current fantasy standard) but there’s a lot going on. Even if I enjoyed I recommend to read the series in order. Highly recommended. The Tangleroot Palace by Marjorie Liu

My Review (5*) I never read anything by this author before and I was attracted by the cover. It was a good choice because the author can write and I fell in love with these stories and the storytelling. There’s different type of stories and, even if they’re not all at the same level, they’re well plotted and fascinating. Highly recommended.
