Hi, so, uh, full disclaimer - I HAD a post almost done and ready to go for today (or TONIGHT, rather), but then I got very distracted by watching the amazing YouTube premiere of the MAGFest Rave, had the fucking time of my life screaming my head off in the SiIvaGunner Discord, and now I've suddenly been informed that I've almost missed Sean Kingston's birthday! Sean Kingston! You know the guy - from Crazy Noisy Beautiful Girls, from Beautiful! ~ Curveball of Sean Kingston, from the 11th episode of the SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis? Yet for all that I've talked about him in those two posts, it still kind of feels like I've only barely scratched the surface - and with the scoops I only just got from SiIvaCord, I felt basically forced to properly honor Kingston's legacy today.

Before his unfortunate and absolutely-real-no-kidding Jetski accident, Sean Kingston made waves in the late 2000s with his breakout single Beautiful Girls - the kind of song that you only SOMEWHAT become annoyed by from its overexposure on the radio. After team member turdl3 of Hoopache fame singled it out as his number-one most disliked pop song of the 2000s, the SiIvaGunner team did what they did best and decided to turn that distaste into a running joke, posting more and more Kingston as part of the bit - before it reached Chaze the Chat's ears.

I can't help but assume that there was some sort of neural overlap across ´his prior obsession with Maroon 5 and Sean Kingston, but Chaze the Chat reportedly wound becoming absolutely obsessed with posting about the song and its various follow-ups. Did you know he made three separate mashup albums dedicated to shitposting about the guy?

Its something I've talked about in many Maroon 5-themed posts on here such as Sunday Morning, but even when I'm not able to be in on the joke there's just something so endearing about seeing rips be made out of such strangely specific yet evidently passionate interests - which, in turn, brings us to Season 3's Sean Kingston Day, and Take You To The Desert. Turdl3 was reportedly not alone in disliking Beautiful Girls, and the song had effectively no presence on SiIvaGunner whatsoever in its first two years of running - yet somehow, Sean Kingston Day got to occur, and the sheer shock of it all has stuck with me since even back when. It wasn't something absurdly random like Chain of Memories II Day back with Simple and Clean (Psi Mix), nor was it seemingly part of any ongoing lore developments, nor did it feel like a long-running joke on the channel that I'd simply failed to be invited to - everyone else in the YouTube comments were just as befuddled as I was as to what led to the sudden takeover. Hell, I hadn't even *heard* Beautiful Girls until that day!

And yet, I fucking loved it.

From an honest point of view, Take You To The Desert is a pretty simple mashup between two already-good songs. Yet with all that context of Sean Kingston's presence on the channel, his development as a borderline forced inside joke and sudden takeover for a day, and most importantly Chaze the Chat's bizarre affection for the guy, it turns into something more. Just the simple fact alone that the rip uses Take You There rather than his prior discussed debut single kind of speaks volume to how deep in the trenches Chaze the Chat was in regards to this event - an event that, really, he was the main driving force behind even getting done to begin with. And though it caught us all of guard, I do believe there were many viewers just like me back then - who through the repeated exposure of the day became unironic Sean Kingston enjoyers. And hey - Beautiful! ~ Curveball of Sean Kingston is only one of the many dozens of rips made since Sean Kingston day to continue upholding the Kingston legacy, even as the hype around the in-joke as completely passed

Bizarre, catchy, ironic, unironic, Jetski driver or pop sensation - Sean Kingston is many things, yet for the six years I've known of his existence I've never been able to see him as anything but a SiIvaGunner joke. But when its one that Chaze the Chat believed in so fucking hard, one that gave us absolute bangers like Take You To The Desert, I can't find it in me to see that as a bad thing. Because with or without prior knowledge, the passion of those who ripped his music showed me why it was worth caring about.

Happy Birthday, Sean Kingston.

COMMENT DISC 2

01 - Changing Seasons

校内の2学期の曲。オープニングムービー2にも使われているこの曲。開発初期のデモとして作った曲で、ペルソナ3のサウンドイメージ＝この曲、といった感じの曲です。この曲もボーカル部分はサンプリングCDから切り出して、単音部分のピッチを動かして歌わせてそれにプラスコーラスを重ねています。モノローグの声はフランス語ですかね？

02 - Basement

作戦行動中に流れる曲。後半のソロストリングスは最近買った某サンプリング音源で、バイオリンはなかなか良い音してます。

03 - Master of Tartarus

タルタロス中で出現する中ボスの曲。こちらも『Master of Shadow』と同様に元はフィールドと対になっていた曲です。対になっていたフィールド曲は『Changing Seasons 』です。bpmも調も同じなんですね～。サビの部分は川村ゆみさんにアドリブでスキャットしてもらい、そこにディレイをフィードバックさせて混沌とした雰囲気を出してみました。

04 - これでいいんだ···

荒垣の例のあのシーンの曲、いや、あまり詳しく書いちゃマズいですよね。

05 - Living With Determination

悲し��シーンで流れる曲。悲しい曲は実は25時 (The Voice Someone Calls) で使われているピアノのモチーフを具体化させたメロディとなっています。毎プロジェクトでこういった悲しいシーンは見せ場となるので作曲するのには苦労します。

06 - tartarus_0d04

07 - 京都

京都の修学旅行で流れる曲。一応全曲収録CDのためこんな曲まで収録しましたが···、これって環境音楽の類じゃないんですかね？

08 - Afternoon Break

昼休みに放課後の誘いを受けるときに流れる曲で、『Joy』のアレンジとなっています。コミュイベントで喜びを表現した曲が1つだと何度も同じ曲が続いてしまうことがあるのでバリエーション違いということで、開発終盤に急遽作った記憶があります。後半のギターソロはちょっと60年代の雰囲気のある音色を狙いました。

09 - 時価ネットたなか

ペルソナ3では内輪ウケのネタは避けようという暗黙の (?) コンセプトがあったのですが、シリーズものでサトミタダシ的なものは外せないよなぁということで時価ネットたなかが作られました。「ヒットポイントー」ほどはじけた内容はちょっと作風に合わないのでやや抑え気味のテンションで。実は某無線のBGMっぽい？一応この手の曲ではお約束となった歌手選定、今回は企画の高屋雅英 (ライドウ担当だったのですが···) に歌ってもらいました。

11 - 10年前の記憶

綾時君とアイギスが対峙するシーンで流れる曲。個人的なことで申し訳ないですが、アイギスの足首、あんまりかわいくない···。

12 - Mistic

神秘的な雰囲気など重要なシーンで流れるこの曲は、タルタロスでも使われているメロディを使っています。このメロディはペルソナ3の重要なモチーフで、オープニングテーマが表だとするとこの曲は裏の重要な主題を表現しているものですね。ニュクスのテーマということでしょうか。

13 - 心の力

この曲も『Mistic』にとても近い雰囲気の曲ですね。

14 - 街の記憶

ディレクター橋野からの要望で新年明けたら全体を暗く悲しい雰囲気にして欲しいとのことで、街の曲も大胆にものすごく悲しい曲にしました。実はこの曲は悲しいシーンのバリエーション違いで用意していたメロディで、ちょっと狙いすぎていた部分もあったので使いどころに苦慮していたのですが街の曲へ変更。新年明けていきなり街でこの曲はすごく雰囲気変えますよね。

15 - 学園の記憶

学校の3学期の曲。新年明けてから雰囲気を変える一環としてこういった曲にしています。メロディにエンディング曲のものを使い終わりが近いことを示唆しています。

16 - Living With Determination -巌戸台分寮アレンジ-

寮の3学期の曲。こちらは『Living With Determination』の悲しいシーンのメロディを使ってアレンジしています。3学期はどこに行っても暗い曲ばかりですね。

17 - tartarus_0d06

18 - 暗闇より出でしもの

ボスとの戦いの前で流れる曲。ペルソナ3はわりとボス前イベントがあっさりしていて早く終わってしまうので、曲も初めに作ったものよりもイントロを短くして早めにメロディが始まるように作りました。真女神転生3ノクターンでは印象的な「デデデン！デデデン！」という曲を作ってしまったがために、あれを越えた曲を作らなければという意識がかなりプレッシャーとなりました。長いことシリーズ物の音楽を担当すると似たようなシーンでも前作より良い曲を書かなければというプレッシャーが強く、これが結構辛いところです···。

19 - 全ての人の魂の戦い

やたらと長いラスボス戦、曲も長めで華々しいやつをということでいつものノリでこんな曲を作りました。最後のサビのメロディですが、女神異聞録のころからなぜか3回繰り返すんですよね。いや、私がそう決めたんですが···。

20 - Nyx

ニュクスが降りてくるシーンの曲。劇場版アニメの盛り上がりどころで流れてきそうなこの曲、ちょっといかにもな作り方ですが世界の終わりが近づいている雰囲気が出ていて良いのではないでしょうか。

21 - 決意

ベルベットルームの最上階を出てニュクスへ向かう主人公、ここで『Mistic』のストリングスだけのアレンジになります。このメロディはトップの音だけ聞くと単純なメロディですが、メロディ全体が和音で動いていて、内声もトップと平行進行ではなく色々と絡み合って出来ています。なのでバイオリンのトップの音ではなく、例えばチェロの音を聞くとまた違ったメロディに聞こえてくると思います。

22 - Burn My Dread -Last Battle-

オープニングのアニメシーンで主人公のヘッドホンから漏れ聞こえてきていた曲がこの曲です。最後の戦いは印象的な曲で、ということでこの曲になったのですが実は初期段階ではオープニングのシーンでもっとこの曲をフィーチャーするつもりでしたが絵との兼ね合いで曲は少々抑えた演出となりここにきて最後で大きく流れるようになりました。

23 - 絆

卒業式のシーンで流れる曲。忘れていた記憶がよみがえった瞬間の未来が開けていくようなイメージでオープニングテーマのメロディをアレンジしました。

24 - 私が守るから

スタッフロール前のアニメシーン。エンディング周りのイベントシーンは毎プロジェクトそうなのですが今回も試行錯誤を繰り返しかなり時間をかけて練り上げました。

25 - キミの記憶

この曲はエンディングテーマでもありペルソナ3のイメージソングのようなもののつもりで書きました。弊社の小森の作った詞が素晴らしい。エンディング周りのテストプレイで聴いてるとちょっと泣けてくるのは詞が物語と凄くシンクロしてるからではないかと思います。最後の曲は先代の「君のとなり」の感動を凌ぐものを、という意気込みで作ったのですが、出来は皆さんの評価に任せるとして詞には凄く助けられたと思います。

26 - Blues in Velvet Room

最近オレの人のよさを見透かされてる気がする···。まさか社外の人にまで！サントラの売りになるボーナストラックが欲しいとアニプレックスの足立さんが···。期間的に無理だと答えた後の長い沈黙と煮詰まる会議に耐えきれず、「簡単なアレンジもので一発録りならできますよ」と言ってしまいました。宇田にも手伝ってもらったりして、色々ゴメンね、宇田。曲の方はマスタリング終了間際に作ってたので演奏がへろへろで申し訳ないのですがご容赦ください。ライブっぽい危うさが出てるでしょ？

ちなみにマニアックな事を言うと······、Fenderの'73Stratocaster をMar-shallのJTM60に直刺し、ピックアッブはフロントでアンプはややゲインを持ち上げた程度のセッティングで弾いています。録音はギターアンプにSM58アンビエンス用にステレオマイクを離して配置、計3本のマイクをマイクアンプを経由しPro-ToolsHDへ24bit、96kHzで3ch同時録音、ミックスダウン後に48kHzに落としマスタリングへ持っていっています。

I mean, given that P5D flopped and Atlus stopped making dancing games but kept/keeps on making P5 spinoffs I'm doubtful that Atlus would make tactics games whether P5T does good or bad (plus I feel like its every other time I hear about it I hear a persona fan mentioning they're not a fan of tactics games so it's def not just a thing on this blog)

Hahahaaaaaa......yeah............

Tbf I don't see a REASON for a dancing game atm. That's more of a game to celebrate the music (or throw it in the trash and set it on fire like P5D did, RIP to P5D you shouldn't have come out when you did)

Also tbf PQ2 didn't sell THAT much better (I think the sales were fairly within what Atlus is/was used to tho? only like 20000 less....then again that might've been OLD data I was looking at). And there hasn't been a Q game since....but tbf Atlus isn't popping them out AS FAST as when they were having their P4 era. (we almost got like 3 games in one year? TT0TT god everything was moving so fast in that era)

Probably cause of quality contr-I can't even finish that sentence.

Ahem. Probably cause of scope maybe.........except PQ2 was roughly the same story length as PQ1......or at least ONE SIDE of a PQ1 playthrough (tho some bits of PQ1 did repeat on each side, A LOT didn't). (there's also the fact they released it on a dying/dead console ahhhhhh, unrelated to scope but still TT0TT)

Uhhhh ummmmm, oh! P3/5D! Right- no I notoriously lambast them for CUTTING content that a single P4D could handle. Half the "story" and less songs. (of course this is considering P3D, P5D, and P4D all separate games on their own....which they are....and were sold as...................separate games......full price....games.....)

Ok ok Strikers! Yes Strikers. That had the scope that matched/exceeded Arena/Ultimax.... at least story wise. But....no one talks about Strikers for some reason. I thought y'all where hyped??????? It seemed to have sold well, but I dunno if that means it's liked..... (I have a VERY small sample size, but outside myself, all the people I've talked to IRL said they hated P5S TT0TT)

Wait why am I bringing this up? Maybe it's cause I miss the P4 era. TT0TT ajfksjf;d

Oh! No no, it's that, P5S is like the most successful P5 spinoff imo (didn't look at the sales but I think it might be the best selling Persona spinoff in general)....but we also haven't had a P5S2, or DLC for it (surprisingly/unfortunately), or another Persona game just like it (like P1S or Raidou S or yadda yadda).

That being said.......P5S was made with another company so....yeah...... that could be why jfsdljafdsakj

Unlike P5S, Dancing and Qs are made in house, P5T is too? I haven't been paying attention. TT0TT It could be they are just focused on T and...."Asa"? and P3R and/or something else. So that could explain the lack of another dancing game (or Q). Plus, again, the dancing games are more of a celebration. I can see a P5D2 happening as we get closer to P6 tbh (if not a P3/4/5D PS5+others port). (and I'm sure they are figuring out how to port Q to other places now they don't have the dual screen). I dunno, this part went on longer than I thought @_@ Just woke up and I'm rambly sorry

I mean Atlus has had the chance to do another Tactics game for years with the DeSu franchise, and those aren't even connected/have to be connected in a single timeline! And people are still waiting on 3! TT0TT So yeah I can see them just dropping it orz

(Yeah I've asked others IRL and they weren't exactly excited either TT0TT Tbh as long as I get another version of this artstyle again I'm fine with that, doesn't need to be a Tactics game.)
