Bis & Beau Hailed as the “Queen of Rock and Roll” - Elvis was her husband, after all! - the beautiful and enigmatic Priscilla Presley left her indelible mark on the American cultural landscape throughout the 60s and 70s. With her signature babydoll eyeliner, massive bouffant ‘do and ultra-glamorous take on Mod fashion, Priscilla’s signature look is at once completely singular, yet emblematic of the era’s decadent rock-and-roll-meets-Hollywood lifestyle. Beyond Priscilla’s role as rock-star-wife, she’s also gone on to pursue a string of business ventures - including launching her own fashion line - and a career in acting, that saw her signature 60s look transform with the times. Think 70s blow-out hair, bell bottoms, and loads and loads of denim. After her divorce from Elvis in 1973, Priscilla launched her first - of many - business ventures. In 1973, she opened up high-end Beverly Hills fashion boutique ‘Bis & Beau’ with friend and longtime stylist Olivia Bis. Together, the duo designed the boutique’s in-house line, which made fans and clients of celebrities including Cher and Liza Minnelli. Priscilla closed the doors on ‘Bis & Beau’ in 1976, and by the 80s was pursuing an acting career. Her first acting role arrived as a single-episode stint on action series ‘The Fall Guy’ (1982). The following year, she got her big break, being cast in iconic, long-running American soap drama ‘Dallas’, before starring in the wildly successful ‘Naked Gun’ movie trilogy. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #design #words #pictures #love #ingenue #fashionicon #businesswoman #fashionboutique #model #actress #designer #styleicon #elvispresley #vegas #oliviabis #bisandbeau #priscillapresley (at Santa Monica Boulevard) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfbGB3xoR8N/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Bis & Beau It was in 1967 that a 21-year old Priscilla Beaulieu wed the king of rock ’n’ roll. Having courted her years prior, during his time in the army, Elvis Presley thrust the young ingenue into the forefront of the media when he made her his wife. Wearing a pearl-encrusted, lace-sleeved dress, rhinestone tiara and a bouffant to rival all bouffants, the couple married at the ‘Aladdin Hotel’ in Las Vegas - and a style star was born. Following six years of marriage the couple divorced in 1973 and soon after, excited to make her own ventures in business, Priscilla opened a boutique in Beverly Hills. Along with Olivia Bis, her business partner and stylist, ‘Bis & Beau’ was a success, garnering a high-end, celebrity clientele which boasted Cher, Liza Minelli and Natalie Wood as returning customers. The shop was closed just three years later. ‘Bis & Beau’ catered to stars and sold beautiful flowing feminine dresses and clothing. By this time, Priscilla had shed the 1960s rocker wife apparel for a more bohemian élan, typical of the 1970s. Flared trousers, embroidered waistcoats and Stevie Nicks-esque floaty dresses became recurring features in her wardrobe. It was at this time that Presley let down her stacked beehive ‘do and instead set her coiffed waves free. Regarding it’s opening Priscilla said “My partner had her own boutique and I always loved her clothes. We would design together, which inspired us to open ‘Bis & Beau’ in 1973.” Vintage clothing from this store is very rare to find. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #design #words #pictures #love #ingenue #fashionicon #businesswoman #fashionboutique #model #actress #designer #styleicon #elvispresley #vegas #oliviabis #bisandbeau #priscillapresley (at Santa Monica Boulevard) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfbF7EkoZxT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Bis & Beau Priscilla met Elvis for the first time in Germany. It was 1959 and Elvis, serving time in the ‘United States Army', had a party at his overseas house. Priscilla attended the party despite being just 14-years-old. The pair kept in touch from this date until their marriage in 1967. Elvis kept shaping Priscilla’s appearance. He had porcelain caps put on her teeth, scolded her poor posture, told her to dye her hair black and style it into a pompadour. He wanted her to dress like him. Priscilla claimed she was, "Elvis’ living doll, to fashion as he pleased.” During this time the media referred to Priscilla as Elvis’ "live-in Lolita”. Elvis proposed to Priscilla around Christmas in 1966. Elvis and Priscilla tied the knot at the ‘Las Vegas Aladdin Hotel' in May of 1967. The ceremony lasted just eight minutes and was designed by Elvis’ manager to provide maximum publicity. After her divorce from Elvis, Priscilla wanted to pursue a career that would allow her to stand on her own two feet. She opened a boutique clothing store in Los Angeles with friend and stylist Olivia Bis called ‘Bis & Beau’. With Elvis’s help the shop was successful and helped to dress celebrity clients including Cher, Barbra Streisand and Natalie Wood. ‘Bis & Beau’ lasted just three years. Priscilla’s next venture? Acting. Her first television appearance was in 1980 as the co-host of ‘Those Amazing Animals’. She went on to star on ‘Dallas’ and made guest appearances in shows like ‘Spin City’ and ‘Melrose Place’. Priscilla was offered the role of one of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ - she declined as she didn’t like the show. Priscilla went on to appear in films - including "The Naked Gun" trilogy. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #design #words #pictures #love #ingenue #fashionicon #businesswoman #fashionboutique #model #actress #designer #styleicon #elvispresley #vegas #oliviabis #bisandbeau #priscillapresley (at Santa Monica Boulevard) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfbFz6_o12S/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
