It took me a hot minute to actually document this one but I've had it for a few days now and it's sooo pretty 馃挄 it's a little beat up but I haven't seen this pattern in ages and I'm just happy it works and still has a tail.

Good afternoon I have acquired a couple of the little burger king i-dog toys (I'd been eyeballing a few but I finally found a listing for one dog and one cat) and I am obsessed.... look at the SIZE of them
I'm probably gonna clean the stickers off the pink one, but I'm toying with the idea of stripping the paint completely off both of them since they don't have any electronics in them for me to worry about preserving. Then I might repaint them more elaborately just for kicks.

ooouuugh little baby...
this one is QUITE corroded on the inside but I'll still give it a clean and see where it gets me. I haven't tried to take one of these apart but it almost looks like the battery compartment might be easier to break down than the standard models... I have a couple of other dogs I need to try to get working once I'm back from vacation and can focus on pet (馃) projects again, so for now this one goes with them on the convalescing shelf 馃槍

This little buddy was selling cheap because it shorts out when being used as a speaker, which didn't concern me because I never use them as speakers lmao I like this pattern but they almost always sell NIB for some reason and I didn't like it... that much
I think it's really funny when only certain body parts yellow on the idogs, so they'll end up with a pattern like this where the legs are pristine white and the body is darker... looks like it's wearing a little vest. Also the green paint is a little bit sparkly :o You can really see it on the paws especially. I wish more of the Amp'd patterns were glitter infused......

Okay here's my self indulgent little lovely idog unboxing post lmao
First off I think the box is so cute and I'm mystified by all the English on it given the fact that when it came out it was exclusively on the Japanese market. In fact the lovely and happy versions never saw any kind of American analog. But also I know English text on Japanese products is just A Thing and especially in the early 00s I wonder if the trend was even more pronounced.
Fresh out of the box and looking SO slick
Quick little video I took to show the differences between this and the Hasbro version, I just think it's interesting. The Sega design almost ends up feeling more like a prototype but I like that it also has more of a ~robot~ feel to it.
And one supplemental image because I realized I didn't touch on the different speaker design or the buttons on the Sega dog's head and didn't feel like retaking the video 馃し
Just from a quick computer-translated glance at the manual it seems like the Sega dog does a load of different things that didn't carry over into the Hasbro release, so I'll definitely follow up when I've got the right size batteries 馃槶

BEHOLD.... the newest dogs. Alongside Electropup (purple) who up til now was the only Amp'd I owned and also! The very first idog I ever bought :o I love the Amp'd colorways because they are just sooooo inescapably 2008
The blue one has a tiny bit of discoloring on the body but otherwise it's in really good shape, I didn't take a picture but its little paw pads are so clean and vibrant pink and that's usually the first thing to get scuffed on these guys. Also my very favorite detail... the little ear flare.
This one's really interesting to me because I don't see this colorway very often, so I'm honestly not sure how much of the off-whiteness is aging and how much is just... that's the color it is. But the interior of the plastic is roughly the same color so I think maybe it's just meant to be sort of an ivory white... and if that's not the original color, it still looks really nice with the gold floral.
Anyway, here's the absolute cacophony of all three of their motors running while they headbop at the same time.

Newwww dog alert--not the super rare one yet but still, this isn't a color I'd ever seen before so I had to nab it 馃様 I'm still out of batteries so I can't do any tests yet but the contacts are in pretty gnarly shape so... we'll see how far a cleaning will get me 馃槵
Fun fact though, it looks like at some point in the past someone already did some maintenance on this little guy? So that's sort of charming :) I like when you can tell they have history.

Hello good morning I was too tired to document this last night BUT blue dog is here!
This is the only one that came with a little purse but it's so charming, it's got a cushioned seat and a little velcro seatbelt inside to keep the dog safe.
I also used this one to take a short video of the classic idog animations, I just think it's really cute how it emotes when it's listening for music.

Okay! With batteries in hand, here's the Sega idog powered up for the first time! It's mostly just me fumbling around with the buttons without knowing how to trigger any of the specific modes, Aiko has so much to say and I don't understand any of it yet 馃様
I feel like Sega's idog is more of a dog-like robot that communicates through music, while the Hasbro idog is a robot dog that loves(/eats?) music, but is still also definitely. a dog. You can see that the most in both of their "tail pull" reactions around 1:42, where they both flash "angry" red lights but Bluedog growls and Aiko plays a dramatic music sting.

Gonna put a flashing lights warning up top here to be safe, especially for the sections with the pink dog. Watch at your own discretion!
I may be off the mark here because I don't have any practical knowledge about the actual software they run, but either way the different behaviors are pretty interesting.
Also not to sideline this little guy, but I have one more new addition to the sanctuary. Sadly its tail broke off in the mail because it wasn't packed very well 馃槖 even so I can't get over how LITTLE it is...
