hello I'm out here trying not to be a bitch about the fact that once again a popular adaptation of a thing, which I Don't Like, has supplanted the original version of the thing, which I Do Like, as the default version people think of when you say the name of a thing

generally I'm concerned that this is just an inevitable function of both Liking Things and Getting Older, especially in a time where everything is reboots and adaptations and sequels.

#as a person who has attachments to Several Marvel Comics #and genuinely loves Good Omens the book but can't fucking stand the tv show #this is a familiar state of being #oh god narnia that was briefly a whole thing. although that one was weird bc while the books are the most important to me #what i was actually getting defensive about was that the adaptation I'm here for #is the extremely janky 1980s BBC serials compared to the Disney versions #SAY WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT THE GENUINELY TERRIFYING TALKING ANIMALS IN THE BBC VERSION #but did Disney even TRY adapting the Silver Chair let alone getting TOM BAKER AS PUDDLEGLUM THE ULTIMATE CASTING CHOICE #excuse me.#red said
